It would be great if u add some kind of grid when u are building staff so u can build exactly how u want easier way it is kinda really hard to build symmetrically also it would be great if u somehow change that when u try to build and when people are standing u cant place staff
I got a couple of tips: 1. Build your wheat farms close to your stockpile since they don't interact with the granary. 2. Selling stone and iron is a great way to boost your income. 3. Place 'good' buildings early on since your population is still small, this way you can tax your peasants more. 4. Crossbowmen are some of the strongest units in the game, switch to them as fast as you can safely do it. 5. Religion isn't as strong as it was in Crusader, so it's not worth building early on in my opinion. (It does look extremely aesthetic though, so i usually still build chapels and cathedrals :P) 6. Place your hovels outside of your castle, since they take up valuable space. (Can even be on an inaccessible piece of land) 7. Bread is the best food source as it is infinite and gets consumed the slowest. 8. Unit pathing can be a bit hit or miss so if you want your melee units to attack a general area just click close to the target. For example click 'enter the tower' instead of directly attacking a unit that's standing on top of it. 9. Use engineer shields on top of your towers to protect your siege equipment and crossbowmen. 10. For sieging a castle; lot's of catapults, shields and crossbowmen are vital. These are all just things i've observed over the years, it's definitely not necessary to play like this but i hope this helps some newer players.
@@michaelwesten4624 Not in the base game (which also includes this definitive edition) because ale can only get you +4 to popularity, as opposed to +8 in Stronghold Crusader, and you need +8 to totally offset not using food. Sure, you also get +1 from no taxes, but that still leaves you with +3 that you have to get from somewhere, AND, again unlike Crusader- cathedrals and churches don't give you the flat permanent +1/+2 to popularity, so the only realistic choice is either still producing food and going on half rations- which defeats the original purpose of 'ale based diet' or using 'good' building, which hurts your overall economy.
So the Definitve Edition seems to be a great success. Now a Crusader Definitive Edition would be a logical next step, right? With some improved AI lords, new and bigger maps, community mod support, some new units and buildings...

I'm so disappointed right now, I used to play a lot of Stronghold Crusader and loved playing the skirmish game mode. It was all I did. I bought the game and found out that this mode is not even a possibility. 😢

@@REGAL-uf1nz I see. I thought you meant sieges as the defender. When attacking you need trebuchets or catapults first. Try to create a mostly direct path to the lord from afar. Ranged units can do a lot of work when combined with shields. Pikemen are the best standard troop because they can tank the most fire. Use macemen and their speed to rush the Lord or clean towers, gates and walls once you have broken through. Most castles can fall this way.
My beginning steps are always: 0) If you have a lot of starting food, you can increase the rations and taxes both for a bit to get some more money starting out. But you'll have to decrease both when you start to run low on food. 1) Build a market. 2) Build 2 hovels. 3) Build several hunters posts. 4) Build 1 stone quarry and ox tether. 5) Spend the rest of your wood building woodcutters. You need a lot, so don't be shy about it. 6) Add more food types to gain the happiness bonus. Wheat takes several steps and a lot of bakeries (because baking is slow), but it can produce a lot of bread. Look at your stockpile. If you have a lot of wheat, build more mills; a lot of flour = more bakeries. 7) Always adjust the taxes as high as you can get away with as long as there is neutral or +1 happiness rate. 8) Add more stone quarries. 9) Religion doesn't work well in this game, you need to build a lot of buildings for it to have an effect, at it's still slow. But Inns and ale work well. It's easier if you can buy ale and have it immediately instead of waiting on the farms and breweries. You will have to build multiple inns. 10) Build as many fletcher's workshops as you can. Focus on ranged units first. 11) Locate bottlenecks and choke points where you can build walls to stop enemies most efficiently. Build a lot of walls, even wooden ones, near towers with archers to slow the enemies and pick them off. Building the towers on high points means less damage from enemy archers. If your walls end at a geographic feature like rocks or cliffs, really make sure there is no gap. Place extra wall pieces around the ends to make sure. 12) If happiness is low and people are leaving and you need workers at a certain building type to build happiness back up, put other less important buildings to sleep. The workers will transfer to the buildings with red crossed-out circles above them. 13) Only build a gatehouse or tower so it's sticking out of the wall if you have the ranged units to put on top of it. Sticking them out of the wall seems to allow them to shoot farther along the wall at enemies or laddermen, but also provides niches for enemies to hide from your ranged units in other towers.
4:08 Oh, that's interesting. In the original game, there were two forms of flattening the map. The right click version just squished everything down, and the spacebar version flattened it completely as shown. Is the squishing version removed entirely, or switched with the controls?
@@Ericboy114558 Thanks for the info. It's kinda unfortunate, but I didn't use it much. I'd rather have the complete flattening option if I had to choose. But I liked the animation of everything squishing down.

Someone who does this doesn't have even a 5 minute chance in pvp. Draw a snake shaped wall, AI will not damage the walls and will try to pass through the snake shaped path, this slows them down, gather all the archers in the same place, this is the simplest way to fight against AI. Also a portable shield can withstand 300 arrow damage, protect archers with portable shield.
if the definitive editions keep selling extremely well like this one, Legends will get its turn 100% :D Stronghold 1 > Stronghold Crusader > Stronghold 2 > Stronghold Legends that's the order they came out and they will probably be remade ^^
This isn't really helpful at all. you left out how to use the marketplace. It's just not working for me and I need help with this thing. My granary and stockpiles are all filled to capacity, the marketplace building is built and everything, but when I click on it, all I see is an animated guy in the bottom right throwing his hands up as if he doesn't know what's happening. There is nothing showing up to sell. No options or anything. It's just the icons that tell you weapons, goods, or food can be sold....but when I click on them it's just blank. Nothing is there. I don't know if anybody is even still paying any attention to the comments in this video, but I need help. I'm frustrated.
@@Zarturael They should take all the time they need to make SHC:DE the best it can be. A campaign like SH1's campaign with the Lionheart, Saladin, Caliph... they have so many iconic characters. Man that would be a banger. I'd also really like to get the semi-flattened view back, or at least not loose it in SHC as well. It's the one thing I dislike about SH:DE... the fact that they removed a cool feature. :(
@@pallando there is a campaign with them, it's just not as well made as SH1 :D But the biggest issue with doing anything new with the characters is that the voice actors that voiced the characters don't work in the industry anymore or have sadly passed away, since it's been like 20+ years at this point since the game came out, and I'm not sure fans would be very happy with someone new doing the voice lines even if the person managed to do a splendid job we'll have to wait and see anyhow, we can only guess at this point ^^

Why should you place Wheat Farms near the Granary. This doesn't make any sense. Especially in a Tutorial Video.
Every Pixel your Wheat farm is closer to your stockpile will increase the efficiency drastically (i heard its about 5% per Pixel)

They didnt say that, they only showed it. But you are right, wheat farms must be placed close to stockpile.

Obi Wan might have been doing it before them. He is from "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away."

Stronghold Crusader 2 needs the:
shift = 5 troops
cntrl = All troops
