I wish Jamie could either turn down or scrap the background music. I can barely here the car or him over it.
me and my dad bought one of these yesterday for a lockdown project and I fell in love with the little thing. it is sienna brown with a beige interior. I am also 15
I also had one in sienna brown, 1981, 957cc base model with vinyl seats.
Should come and have a go in mine 👀😂
I like the fact u can get stuck into doing anything with the engine on these older cars so easily. Everything is accessible
This was my first car. Same colour too I bloody loved it with it's manual choke and huge steering wheel
My first car was a 1982 entry level fiesta. 950cc and very basic. One wing mirror, one sun visor, no headrests on the front seats, manual choke, no rear windscreen wiper and the front windscreen washers were operated by a foot pump on the floor behind the clutch.
It topped out at about 79mph (going downhill) but I loved it.
I had the same, 1981 red with brown interior. I'd forgotten about the windscreen washer pump on the floor! My first car when I was 16. I payed £30 for it but never got it road worthy. I gave it away a couple of years later and I've regretted it ever since. I'd love to know if it's still in someone's garage somewhere.
@@garsamusic A relative had an X reg in blue, D***45X, I saw the car 2 years ago and after that it was scrapped. An old couple had bought it off him many years ago and must have kept it all that time. It also had an alarm, the on/off switch was key operated at the back on the side near the boot lid, hilarious to think of that now.
I had a somewhat similar 1980 model that I bought brand new. Mine had the only engine used in the 'states: the 1.6. Being red inside and out made it look quite expensive...as Fiestas go. Loved driving it but there were countless times I shifted into, or tried to shift into a 5th gear.
That car was like an eager puppy, always ready to run.
I had a Mk1 XR2 back in the early 90s.. ahh memories..such a great car..
What a beauty. I need one back in my life!
nice to see a Mk1 Fiesta still going!!! Nice "ordinary" survivor and the mods are well done :)
Thats the great thing about you, you do all cars, sweet machine
"people were getting rid of them when they didn't want them any more" Quoted for truth.
Love this ! Video that's not about power like most RUclips videos nowadays
My first car! 1.1 L 1982 (got it in 1994).
Drove it pretty much down every road on this video too. Spent many an hour at that view point on top of portsdown hill too 😊
I have just found this video when looking for ideas for my Mk1 fiesta. The car is incredibly identical to my car apart from the wheels and my one is a LHD. Nice to be different. Love the video 📹
Beautiful! mine is the same color and 1.3, they are a blast!
you need to try one with a screaming zetec they are loads of fun. i have a mk2 with bike carbs and making 133hp on the rollers
Got mine going again, it is a ripper with the zetec, dump 2nd gear and it doesnt struggle to light up the 195 I'm running.
Had ones of these back in the day and stuck a Peco exhaust on it haha sounded so good!
Love it !!
Love the character of old Skool cars from the 80s. New cars are shit
Love the exhaust note on these little fiestas. I had a mk2 as my very first car at 16, not as clean as this one thought.
Think I'm one of your older viewers Jamie, passed my test in one of those in 1982. Then bought a Renault 12ts as my first car, happy days back then.
I remember it not being unusual to buy $2.00 worth of petrol for a car back then here in New Zealand
Loving this little pop pop.
Had a mint mk1xr2 in caspian blue with only 2 privous owners sold it for about 700quid in late 90s, Dam wished i still had it, but no where to of kept it all those years . Cool to see some classics on your channel :)
Robert Collins Same.. sold mine (TWG 111Y) to a work colleague in 1993..and he destroyed it. Broke my heart.
@@woooster71 some people just destroy every car they own ! Haha i can remember the mk1 xr2 reg too AAY 699Y ! The price of them have shot up !
Robert Collins I know, crazy prices.. to think I sold mine for £300..and it ‘was’ mint at the time! Good days..
@@woooster71 yes but back then just cheap run around to thrash about ! Mine was mint sister was second owner from new ! Sold it and bought a astra GTE convertable with digi dash ! Haha then astra gsi redtop 2litre, then golf vr6, oh too to be young agin bloody 40 now !
Robert Collins Very true, I had a Mk2 XR2 afterwards, but it’s the Mk1 that I have the best memories of.. If only we could have kept them all lol.. I’m 47 now, with a Mk2 Focus RS as a weekend car.. I’ll try and hold onto this one 😄
An old pal of mine had one . We went absolutely everywhere in it . Back in day
Wicked little car 😎
Great video
Gorgeous car 👍
Ive had 4 of these...(US version)... Love them!
First car was a 78 Ghia. I couldn’t kill it. I wish I had it now.
I like it. 1982, I was 6 then.
Can you do a review of an Austin Maxi 1750 please if you can get your hands on one?
I had three in a row as daily cars for about 15 years. I found them to be fun, reliable and very usable.
I parted with my last one after I inherited my fathers Humber Hawk Series II that has been my project car for the last seven years.
It inspired me for a complete change from Austins to Humbers that felt refreshing.
Maybe one day I will find another Maxi
The seats are 2wd Cossie front and rear not Rs turbo the cloth is totally different unless he used the frames from rst.
My sister had a 1100 L in 1982 Y reg,Sunburst Red
But A frame head restraints
If you'd told us back in 1982 that the 1.1L Fiesta "shopping trolley" our mums went to Sainsbury's for the weekly shop in would one day be considered "cool" or "classic" we'd've laughed all the way to the take-away...
So which of today's runabouts will be cool in 2055? Any suggestions?

Dunno whether you can consider a 208gti as a runabout, I was thinking more base model (1.1L Fiesta, Metro 1.0L, 205GL, etc). My mum had a 1982 Fiesta XR2 for a short time. It was cool then and we had no doubt it would be cool in the future! And it is... I wish I still had it.
Probably the modern fiesta of today 😊
Robin Forrest My dad had a black XR3i Escort with the red pinstripe what a beaut just image how much it would be worth today 🤦🏻♂️

Shed loads mate, shed loads... Like my old man's red Saab 900 Aero. I still have the 9-5 he traded it in for back in 1999. If he'd kept the 900 it'd be sitting on my drive now...
Just bought one😊
Nice car😁😁
Nice motor that
Do live fiestas what an machine 👍
With it having the BC gearbox, pretty sure you could swap out the CWP for a shorter BC/IB5 variant and have a nippy little 1.1l... that "economy" gear would not be much use then though!
Mk 1 and 2 fester xr2 were/are great fun......try and find a supersport..
My first car was a 1980 MK1 fiesta 1.1L - somewhere in it's life maybe even at the factory on a Friday afternoon it lost it's Venturi Variable (VV) carburettor and gained a Single Choke Webber from the Ghia variant?
I might go out and buy an Escort mk1 lol! I am thinking of selling my Hyundai Coupé RD2 of 2001 and replacing it with a fl1 from 2006 which has more advantages or a Civic Type R or...lol!
There’s no Ford like an Oldskool Ford 😎👌
What is rhe colour code pls becase me and my dad would like to make our fiesta mk1 that coulor
My dream car is either a Civic Type R phase 2 or a Nissan Z32 or an S13 or something...
That was not the economy one. The E models from X reg had 3 gears plus an "E" gear and lights on the dashboard to tell you when to change up, one yellow one orange. They were a 950cc 4 cylinder.
The model after this around B reg was far far better in the rounded off design, stronger engines too. The very last 1.25 zetec were far faster and more efficient than the 1.3. They also made a 1.6 turbo and a diesel. The XR2 ans 2i were good too. So many design improvements over the years.
I liked the B reg new improved design the most.
My first car in 1993.
Nah, you don't take out the original 38k seats for those recaros imo
Colour code J2. Blue
No need for that super market sweep music in the back ground 😤😤😤😤
At 7:55 remove that awful K&N, it ruins the car. The car can not have a current MOT as you are not allowed to vent crankcase gases in to the atmosphere. The car has a fake MOT.
Drive mk1fiesta every day.
Or Supra mk4 or....
Music too loud, spoils the video.
didnt mention its a german car lol
this stupid background music is so tiresome.
dont use K & N...see project farm vid testing them...FAIL!
Stupid crap music, this video has got good potential.
Horrible music
Mk2 was so much better.
andrew wright It was, but I had a Mk1 and Mk2 Fiesta XR2, and it’s the Mk1 that I have the fondest memories of.. Ahh, to be 21 again..
