A great way my mates and I used to use cheese as bait was to get a sheet of chux wipe and a bag of black and gold tast cheese, melt it onto the chux wipe the night before, cut it into squares and put them in a sandwich bag in the fridge over night. Never lose your bait and not risking the (even if not true) fish not being able to process cheese in their stomachs.

I think the biggest I've ever caught on cheese was only about 20 pound, the biggest one I caught was on carp guts in an run off of the Murray it was just shy of 80 pound and it was straight back in the drink for the old girl. The biggest I didn't catch was under the Edward River bridge in deniliquin with a dirty great big whole yabby. Almost snapped the old ugly stick in half and wrapped me straight around the pile on.
