So let me get this straight... you can pay yourself a 70k wage, sometimes if it goes well 100k... but 'directors' are expected to want to be motivated by 'doing it for the community'. Something doesnt feel right about that to me. It does not feel fair. If everyone is contributing, they should be considered as absolutely necessary for the function of the 'whole'. I wonder if funding would exist in the format of a CIC with non hierarchical pay structures? Would love to hear if you know of any
This is normal in lots of organisations. Advisory vs delivery. Charities, health trusts, membership bodies, national agencies - all have a non exec board and then paid staff separate.
So directors don’t get paid for just being directors but they can get paid if they are doing actual work like a project manager or admin etc. it’s just a director who is only a directors can’t be paid. It’s because limited by garentee with now share holders. That structure is needed because a cic is like a charity it gets grant funding and takes donations, so you can’t have directors taking shares. All the money needs to only be used for the actually community work overheads and staff cost 🫶🏼
I've been trying to submit a CIC application online for the last 2+ weeks but it's not letting me submit PDFs, anyone else having this issue? I've tried different browsers, different laptops, different PDFs all under 10mb. It's just not letting me submit the CIC36 form... it's doing my head in to say the least.

It’s up to you really. If your getting a grant no need to charge but if it’s not grant funded charge what you want :)

Your nominated asset lock company would get any assets if your cic closed

can you get paid as a director of cic.
Not fir being a director no. Only for doing another job fir the cic like if a director did a paid job like project manager, lead artist etc then they get paid for the work they do🫶🏼
£349 a day ! My god .I thought it was about community not about paying your self £1800 a week …
Www.artistunion.co.uk that’s the rate for an artist. Also a standard amount for most manager level professionals 🫶🏼
Also I should mention with a CIC it’s not that rate every day. You might only get 20 days at that rate on a project so the work isn’t solid everyday work 🫶🏼
Community intrest … How many folk in the community earn that much ? Around here they sure as don’t. As I understand CIC’s , they are not about earning a time of money .
