They have to to protect their IP, that's how the law works. It is also why blizzard had to shutdown nostalgia or whatever it was called. How are people still not getting this.
@Source Dasher nothing you say matters because it's simply not how the law works. IP refers to battlefield as a franchise. "people have all the right to take the game's code and make their own servers after that." lolno, not at all.
not really, I bet a lot of people searched for Battlefield 2042 but somehow watched videos of 2124 (its really the same name but with one number changed...) the algorithm noticed the trend and now it's recommending it to more people
It absolutely blew my mind the first time I tried it. Fighting through the halls of the enemy titan, destroying the core while teammates hold off the other team trying to take back the room, then sprinting out while the titan explodes around you and diving off the back and parachuting to safety. It was awesome.
Is it even a real threat to them? EA makes a crap ton of dough every year, an old title that virtually no one in the modern BF community remembers shouldn't really be a real problem to EA
BF2142 was the most balance, team focused BF of the series in my opinion. I put days into this game because team play was so important it created a social environment that was amazing. Would love to see a remake
Assaulting the Titan requires so much teamwork you HAD to have friends to be effective. If you had a squad of six you could get past most hallway campers.
@Sparks Whoa, what were you smoking? BFV is probably the worst when it comes to encouraging team play out of any BF....perhaps out of any teamwork based game period
Bots are very useful in low player count situations, it also allows you to play larger 32 and 64 man versions of the maps which have air vehicles the smaller maps do not have. Battlefield2142.co
@@АлексейЧуйко-ъ5й I hate how sweaty everyone are in these old games online, they will sit in perfect camping spots and just rack up kills i'd rather play VS bots
@@АлексейЧуйко-ъ5й Yeah, I jumped back into BF3 just for the hell of it and fighting level 100 helicoper spawnkillers and getting sniped across the map just made me quit
I'm watching this video three years after it was posted, and 14 years after the game was originally launched. This game was my childhood. Titan Mode specifically required strategic teamwork, and for a young teenager, this was probably the foundation of my "work as a team to win" ethic. This review gave me incredible nostalgic and fuzzy feelings! Thanks for creating this!
Not only titan, I found some of the better maps designed... Did you remember that massive battles with slowly moving fronts on Camp Gibraltar trying to find a way to reach the interior points? mmm I cant find a single map I did not love on Bf2142... Also the expansion was cool as fuck.
Yep! Camp Gibraltar, being able to sneak around/speed past using a buggy and capturing a flag with your squad really changed the tide of battle. Battlefield 2 had similar style maps, but you're correct, they had really polished the design by 2142.
Titan mode was fantastic, until people realized that grenades infinitely restocked when you had a Supply Box nearby. Tunnels became a permenent explosion, it was pretty stupid. All EA/Dice had to do was to patch it so grenades didn't get restocked. POW, problem fixed, Titan mode is back to being fantastic. Alas, they didn't give 2 f's post launch.
Rushing the enemy titan right at the end of a match and bailing before the explosion with you and the enemy team running together was such a fun experience
It's back up at 2142 Revive!! I play Titan every night and slit people's throats for dogtags as they run out of the Titan, screaming in defeat heh heh heh!
The best part: Even if the enemy team managed to destroy your titan, they all were way too busy with escaping the collapsing ship, that they did not longer fought back. "You might destroyed my carrier, and killed me by proxy, but I will take as many of you with me as I can"
MandaloreGaming hey since you reviewed 2142 you should review BF2 Project Reality that is also still alive with a large community. Bonus also like 2142 you don't need BF2 it's a standalone game. Plus it seems you would really enjoy it.
Great review - though you may have misunderstood how the LMGs work. As you've probably already heard from comments ( see this is an older video), the LMG is most accurate with sustained fire and is TERRIBLE when you are moving. All the clips you showed had you moving around while firing which kept the accuracy from ever adjusting.
This seriously needs to be remastered or have a sequel 2143. I get it the "futuristic" shooters now get a bad reputation.. Especially because everyone compares Battlefield with CoD. But this game was massive and really could mix things up.
Let's not forget that the 90's were bascially full of futuristic shooters. Then came the early 00's with pure WWII and starting in 2007 we got modern warfare with, well Modern Warfare. After that they started moving 20 minutes into the future and beyond, and the latest trend was WWII again, we went full circle and should start seeing modern military settings again. But personally, I'd like to see another good futuristic shooter besides Titanfall 2, and some good modern WWII shooters, both BF5 and CoD WWII were rather lame reskins of their previous games, nothing like a WWII shooter should be like.
Back when Battlefield was good. This and Battlefield 2 were fucking legendary. As was 1942. I really miss those days. When the maps were massive, player count was high, and conquest felt like a conquest should.
@@badgermcbadger1968 how how did you find this comment? it's three years old... anyway it's that Sam has apparently not experienced snow before, and is very confused over it.
I skipped so many days of school just to get tier 4 shit a couple of days after release. Literally first week this game came out i had a nasty ''cold'' that lasted a lot longer than both parents and school was willing to put up with. Literally some of the best moments i remember having had in a video game. Honestly never imagined a day would come that there would be no active playerbase. I'm guessing you know as well as i do, things have changes, ever since gamespy went down, it's been a challenge to find an active player base for any game in particular let alone 2142. Games never used to even die. Like it didn't matter how old a game was, there was gonna be at least anywhere between 1 to 10 thousand active players at any given moment online. Now it's just dead servers everywhere, with the playerbase being divided between several different proprietary and competing ''platforms''. Consoles are a complete scam these days. Can't believe we've let consumerism actively destroy the entire industry. Tf.
BF 2142 was one of my favorite games when it came out. Getting pinned down behind some blasted concrete on an abandoned highway by a mech is one of the scariest things I've experienced in a game.
Agreed, many people felt it should have been an add-on for BF2. However, the BF2 graphics engine did get a bit of an overhaul for this game. I played way more BF2142 than I did BF2 back in the day and had an absolute blast playing with friends.
Yep, the guys got a C&D. I don't know how the IP rights go but they might have legally had to do preserve their ownership of it? Either way it makes me sad. What a fun game.
With how important the concept of titans seem to be in this games world it makes me wonder what it would be like if every game mode was a variation of titan mode with a different type of titan. Giant vertions of the walkers, enormous tanks, each with slightly different objectives to taking them down with the same core principles.the idea of storming strongholds in team based games is friggin amazing whenever it's done right, it's like having a map inside of a map.
"because what's the point of playing with bots?" Lmao, offline instant action is 90% of the reason people still play this and BF2. That's like saying the OG Battlefront games don't need bots.
@@Destroier534 thats what Im talking about. I still boot this game up every now and then and just muck around, switching teams and sniping helis out of the sky with a tank. No other game lets you do that on your own while also running decently
@Type 36 Hachimoto I remember when we used to have gamespy so you didn't need to go around hunting community discords just to find servers.... Can't believe it's the year 2021 and we've forgotten what a server browser even is.
@Type 36 Hachimoto Still, good on you for trying to keep the community alive. But tbh, without gamespy this isn't even 0.1% of the actual community you would have otherwise.
I loved the Commander system in this game. That was one of my favorite roles to play, and when you had squads that actually listened to you it was so much fun and made it a completely different game. I wish 2042 had that. It's kind of dumb when you just get thrown into a squad, but there's no central commander directing squads and throwing down support abilities. That would improve 2042 SO MUCH
Wait why would they ever rather choose to make a bf4 and bf hardline over a follow up for this game? Hell why even bother with battlefront 3????? This looks like a more round up less pay2win planetside
Because my ice age loving friend DICE are idiots. And this game didn't really do that well commercially it was rushed out and many people didn't like the scifi setting, but it's gotten a cult following.
I think we just need a break from futuristic shooters for a couple years. Let us start to miss the concept of using advanced technology. We need another era of WW2 style games! DICE should make a vietnam game next!
BDL30 why because cod did it who cares what setting the game is in. Look at bf1 everyone was hyped for a ww1 setting now a ton of people say ww1 setting was a mistake. A setting doesn't make a game good or bad im sick of this notion that future based fps games are bad.
They did not destroy anything.. Revive was run by idiots and "supposedly" got shut down because of it.. They were never asked to shut off the Master Server or Discord.. They did that cause they could care less about all the players.
There are a ton of reasons. 2142 had 800+ players at 1 time on initial release of the Revive fix. It had not been tested properly so there was the most horrendous lag on the servers for the first month of the game to the point of unplayable and many people left right out of the gate. Then as time went by and populations diminished they would do nothing at all to try and curb the loss of players. I made many suggestions and was treated like I knew nothing and like a piece of crap that knew nothing about the game.. FYI I have 6400 hours just on 2142-stats website and 1000's more of game time and admin time spent from 2014-current to keep the game going (10K-11K hours total).. Instead of considering what I suggested I was treated literally like an idiot that knew nothing.. This is an addition to the fact they were running Google Adwords on a website that they were giving away 3 EA games for free.. Then when the end came, they left the master serve broken, servers were broken, stats would not tabulate anymore, new players got nothing for the last 2 months.. Revive even knew how to unlock everything and just didnt feel like giving everyone the unlocks even though the game was ending.. Revive never notified any of the BF2 or BF2142 players where to go once they shut down. Revive was never asked to shut down the master servers or the revive discord they just did it themselves abruptly.. For 2.5 years 2014 - Sept 2016 Dethklok had a master server fix. Battlelog and Revive hid this fact from many players in fact banning me from Battlelog for telling people about it. Then under conditions I agreed to move all our Dethklok players to Revive.. Within 6 months, May 2018 revive admin was saying things like "My hope is 2142 just dies", and "you act like I give a fuck". All while taking donations and getting per click money from Google Adwords.. So Me and 1 guy were able to handle it for 2.5 years and their team of 10 guys could not handle it for 6 months.. Yahh they are idiots.. They took over the game , dictatorshipped it up where noone knew anything right except them that frankly had like 500 total hours of 2142 game time and did not even play. Fortunately we have control of it now and are doing the right thing for the community.. Goto Battlefield2142.co for all the information to play in 2018 and beyond.
This review is my favorite by you. I think part of it has to do with this game in particular being a perfect fit for your style of review. It also helps that I discovered Megalith Agnus Dei because of this video. Thanks again!
infiniteelectronix They *were* quite literally asked to shut down their servers. Didn't you read the email they received? I can't remember if they made it public. But make no mistake, EA asked them to shut down everything.
No they did not.. There is no proof of anything from them except a email full of jargon that would have never been written by an attorney for EA . Something that would not have been written to show a judge in court saying "we have warned them".. I have received 100+ DMCA over the years because of the business I am in. ALL are 10+ page legal documents written professionally by someone that is paid for legal representation. In that email that Revive showed they were never asked to shut down the servers and on the same token have no legal right to make revive shut down their Discord server abruptly. They merely asked them to stop giving their game away for free.. I own the website Battlefield2142.co If you search for 2142 my site comes up on most searches on Google in the 1-5 spot... I have not received so much as an email from EA.. I had also provided a link from 2014-2016 to the full game installer as revive did. I also have messages from both Spencer, MDawg, and EngineerIsaac all main admin at revive saying things like "You act like I could give a F**K" and "my hope is that 2142 just dies"... I can provide proof of those if you would like from Discord snap shots.. In addition to all this at the end revive failed tell players of BF2 and BF2142 where to go to play after they shut down. BF2HUB and Gameranger. I spent the last month in game and messaging 800+ people on my friends list of 2142 where to go to continue to play. I also offered to take over the servers from revive and or pay them to show us how to make a master server all to no avail. This is a long long story about revive and many people do not know all of it... I am Dethklok Airjerr, I have been around this game for hours and hours every single day since 2009. I know what has gone on I know what went on and you have been fed a false tail by revive in order to redirect the blame from them to EA so people can just talk crap about EA instead.. revive and battlelog have crapped on me for years and I am glad they are gone. We run this just fine now on Gameranger and will be moving our players to a master server and combining with another community soon. I was part of the Dethklok fix from 2014-2016 after the shut down. We ran the game for 2.5 years and never received any emails or contact from EA. I also had petitioned them on behalf of our community by email to use their logos and graphics legally so they knew who we were.. revive was giving away 3 games and running Google Adwords on those pages.. Not the brightest thing to do in the first place and they should have known better.
I would have an interest in shutting down someone if they were profiteering off of my trademarks. Revive was running Google Adwords on the same web pages they were giving 3 EA games away for free.. AND as I said, EA never asked for the servers to be shut down and had no legal right to make them shut down the Revive Discord server.. This is in addition to the fact that the "email" they got was nothing short of a total made up joke by some dumb ass that has no clue what DMCA notifications from a multi million dollar company looks like.
It truly was the last real Battlefield, I can't say it enough. Every single one made for consoles (Bad Company and newer) absolutely pales in comparison. Sure some were fun in their own regard, but 2142 was the pinnacle of Battlefield core mechanics and gameplay. They took BF2 and perfected it. The futuristic setting may not have been for everyone (I love it), but they fixed the dolphin dive BS from BF2 (you had to wait a second before you were accurate once you went prone), and they did things like add points for following squad leader orders, which encouraged even more teamplay. Fast forward to 2042, not only do soldiers auto-heal, but so do vehicles, effectively neutering the need for medics and engineers. Any one can carry any weapon, so no need to rely on a well-rounded squad. No commander. 4-person squads with no ability to manage them. It's such trash compared to how it used to be. P.S. F**K EA for being so fkin greedy that they shut down the Revive project. What a bunch of a**holes.
Mastering your flying of the Talon and Doragon was insanely satisfying. Weaving through the air and swooping down to a hover to provide close air was some of the most fun I had in-game.
This was always one of my favourite Battlefield games ever, and I've been playing since BF1942. Would definately start playing again if BFRevive had enough Australian players.
smudboy This is the only game that deserves a sequel. Too bad CoD has fucking ruined the futuristic genre and now everyone is tired of it. We need classic boots on the ground gameplay with 2142's sequel, all running on Frostbite 4. Titan Mode in glorious 4K... I CANNOT WAIT MY MAN!
This and BF2 are the best BF games. None of that "strafe left and right to win a shootout" bullshit. Tactical, team-oriented, but also a low cost of entry. Something for everyone, and a true classic. Possibly the last true BF game.
Distant Worlds! No one ever talks about that game but it totally deserves it, I think a lot of people would really like it if they only knew it existed
0:11 - actually, EA didn't do that. The servers were held by GameSpy, which was last owned (and shut down) by Glu Mobile. This affected numerous games from between 2001 and 2010, EA just couldn't be bothered to make a replacement.
I love this game and watching your video really brought me back to the days when I was obsessed with this game. Your review was thoughtful, well paced, funny and easy to watch. Thank you for making and sharing, much respect my friend ✌️
Yes... this is smart. Obviously the best choice for humanity is to fight eachother for the last habitable part of earth so we live a couple more years. I mean, WHY would we ever work together to try to find another habitable planet and move there? Pfffff.
Because moving to another planet is completely unfeasable. There hasn't been a single realistic option found within 20,000 lightyears of the earth, and even if one had been found within the solar system it would be unfeasable to move even a slightly substantial amount of people there without breaking the laws of the universe. We're stuck on earth.
This game was actually a lot of fun. It had the right amount of balance for a futuristic game. I would love it if they made a BF2143 that was similar to the 2006 game, just with way better graphics.
4:54 - You've missed that Hachimoto also has a guided missile launcher on the gunner's seat aside from the grenade launcher. Yes - same guided missiles as those mounted on gunships. Also I disagree about it being pointless to play with bots. Coop is not only a very cool feature entirely missing from any Battlefield past BF3, but also something very much needed with the remnants of the community so heavily distilled into pros. Essentially, most who still play this game are powerful veterans. If you're a newbie trying to discover this game today, you'll be utterly demolished by an average player. That's hardly enjoyable. At the very least coop against bots provides a good environment to familiarize yourself with the game and its basics, before you start getting pummeled into the ground by pros who are playing this incessantly for years.
'Essentially, most who still play this game are powerful veterans. If you're a newbie trying to discover this game today, you'll be utterly demolished by an average player. That's hardly enjoyable.'' You know, this might surprise you, but the whole ''K/D'' chasing literally made its first debut with the Call of Duty franchise. Before then, games were played for fun, not to show off a ''k/d ratio''. Even in games such as Quake, where the pro players obviously aim for the top spots, it's not about if you actually get the top spot, it's about wether you had fun playing the match, wether it was a ''good game'' or not. Kids / zoomer generation really does not understand what video games are about. I guess that's also why video game companies really love to scam children, because children are the most easily manipulated through emotional responses. YOU DO WANT TO WIN THE GAME RIGHT SON? YOU DO WANT THE FLASHY ARMOR THAT COSTS 10$ DONCHA SON? IF YOU DONT PLAY TO WIN YOU'RE A LOSER HAHA BETTER GET GUD SON. >literally not what video games were about even some 20 years ago.
Golden era games are usually considered ''pickup games'' because you can easily jump both in and out of a match without it meaning much of anything significant. Nowadays it's all about K/D ratios and EXP points and battlepass skinnerbox scams. Like the video game won't even let you quit without aggravating literal stress hormones (something that should be made illegal on the grounds of national health concerns tbh). It's really beyond a joke. It's sad to think this is what kids are growing up these days and are actually being engrained to consider ''normal''.
Heh Heh, Mandalore, i love how every so often i spot/hear references to one of my favorite games Ace Combat 4. You gotta review it or some of the other Ace Combat games. I recognize that it would be kind of pointless because its hard to buy it without a ps2, but it fits your channel to a T!
I played Titan Mode so much. I remember a game lasted about 45 minutes in the last part of breaching and destroying the Titan, because the whole enemy team bundled up to protect the central power core. We had the silos, but both teams just unspokenly agreed we'd end it on the ship. It was chaos. Guys dropping shield walls in the hallways, grenades flowed back and forth constantly, auto turrets, SAWs, and constant reinforcements flowing in via drop-pods.
Some considered the rocket launcher useless, but it was a misunderstood mechanic. Your rifle had a built in range finder - whatever surface you zoomed in on, it would auto show the range to that thing. With your mouse wheel you could adjust your range to that surface - this range was tied to the distance your underslung rockets would auto donate at. Someone behind a low wall or around a corner? Range to the wall, add 1 or 2 metres to the range, and air burst a rocket rounded over them. Many people were confused and frustrated by their rockets seemingly auto detonating on nothing (zooming while looking at the ground or nearby object). They never seemed to realise they had set their range in on something near their spawn, and then never resetting it. Edit: f for grammar
you know what made me love the old battlefields its the slower paced gameplay ,with that the game encouraged teamwork tactical strategies but the need for speed movement in bf that started from BF4 until V , it made every one plays solo without even thinking about their squad , the squad is just a respwan point.
''the squad is just a respwan point.'' Yup. That just about sums the ''battlefield'' experience ever since 2142 really. It's so pathetic that video game ''companies'' will try to go out of their way to copy other studios ''big hit title'', only to complain about copyright law minutae when they are literally suing their own customers.... Fuck EA.
Few childhood memories compare with getting the final blow on the core with an RDX demopack and then parachuting off of the exploding titan. God I miss 2142
@@superiorsoldier57 and that is a good thing that we won't see remake from EA. I personally don't want to see loot boxes and stuff like that in this game
There is practically only one real problem with 2142 that has persisted since it's release: netcode issues when onboard Titans. Other than that, any other flaws come down to 2142's age and time when it was created. I get on every now and then not only for nostalgic reasons but because it's still a legitimately awesome multiplayer experience just like it's Battlefield 2 forebear. It's only tragic that Battlefield since then has become too much like Call of Duty and not focused on real teamplay. Yeah they are still fun (been playing BF4 alot lately), but the real spirit of the series was lost long ago.
lol I heard that too and got that enormous boost of nostalgia that even battlefield 2142 couldn't give me. 12:06 That part of the theme is unmistakable and unique in it's own glorious way.
At first I was really only listening to him (My computer can't run planetside 2 so lookin for an alternative) and was like what the hell u talkin bout? Then went back and heard the megalith track. I love that game so much my first acecombat game! Can't wait for AC7! :P

One of the best matches that i ever had was on this game about 4 months ago. I was playing on the italian map as a eu support class with a machine gun, ammo packs and a portable shield. I hunkered down on the ridge right above the pac base with my shield covering my left and a wall covering my right. With an assault class teamate providing medical aid and watching my back, i mowed down pac troopers by the dozen, giving the e.u team an awesome lead.
BF2142 is one of the best games I ever played. Have lots of memories from it and I spend many hours playing. My clan even had our own server that we run. I miss those good old days... I sure hope they will release BF2143 someday.
ahhh that music.... Few gaming feelings as good as a well coordinated assault on a titan and the cheers over voicechat as you leap off the rear deck as it goes up in flames......
Griffin W too true!!! zooming across the landscape in the small jeeps with a friend in the turret, capturing the missile silos to bring down the enemy's titan... yeah, just... epic!!
Didn't include France, Russia, OR Austria-Hungary in BF1... And the British parts involve a magical tank that goes AWOL, a hackneyed plot, and actually being an American. And also had you engage more A7Vs than the Germans could've dreamt of deploying in one place, heck their national supply by the end of the war was 20 built. While piloting an 8 man tank with 4 people. And everyone had automatic weapons. Especially the Italian Space Marine. Also, the zeppelin sequence. Trenches? What are trenches? Just some kind of setpiece to move through/over for drama, right?
I do not understand why DICE have not followed up on this game with a new battlefield set in this universe with a new modern Titan Mode. It would blow out everything they did since then out of the water.
Around this time, BF2, 2142, DICE were on top of their game. Years later they came out with BF3 which visually was groundbreaking for a FPS game, but overall, I felt DICE were at their peak in BF2 / 2142 era.
I first started playing Battlefield games since 1942 released and 2142 ended up being my favorite. I think it's because they got to make the setting suit the gameplay, rather than try to justify gameplay decisions in a historical / real-world setting.

I never heard of this game, but Titan mode sounds like the most fun thing ever.
It was
It absolutely blew my mind the first time I tried it. Fighting through the halls of the enemy titan, destroying the core while teammates hold off the other team trying to take back the room, then sprinting out while the titan explodes around you and diving off the back and parachuting to safety. It was awesome.
Battlefield 2 and 2142 were the best multiplayer games at that time. They still have a massive following but EA have closed all servers. Such a shame.
There will never be another titan mode.

When EA considers it's previous titles to be a threat...
Well, they are
The sad part is, That's so true.
It's the only game they actually own
Is it even a real threat to them? EA makes a crap ton of dough every year, an old title that virtually no one in the modern BF community remembers shouldn't really be a real problem to EA
@@ArcturusOTE Welcome to just one reason why EA is hated.

I loved when people helped the team by beaching the Carrier on Wake.
Assaulting the Titan requires so much teamwork you HAD to have friends to be effective. If you had a squad of six you could get past most hallway campers.

Bots are very useful in low player count situations, it also allows you to play larger 32 and 64 man versions of the maps which have air vehicles the smaller maps do not have. Battlefield2142.co

Too bad EA is shit tho.
They actually had something resembling a masterpiece but no nobody can have that anymore
Same here my friend, i had so much fun playing this game back in the day. I was 13Yo, this game was the best ever for me
Titan mode made this the best Battlefield, very well balanced and a focus on squad/team play.
Not only titan, I found some of the better maps designed...
Did you remember that massive battles with slowly moving fronts on Camp Gibraltar trying to find a way to reach the interior points? mmm
I cant find a single map I did not love on Bf2142... Also the expansion was cool as fuck.
Yep! Camp Gibraltar, being able to sneak around/speed past using a buggy and capturing a flag with your squad really changed the tide of battle. Battlefield 2 had similar style maps, but you're correct, they had really polished the design by 2142.
Come play at 2142 revive! Thousands are back up playing, it's a free download, you don't have to have any disk, and Northern Strike is INCLUDED!!!
ThePsyfurnosis I'd say it's a tie between titan mode and Rush in Bad Company 2.
"You might destroyed my carrier, and killed me by proxy, but I will take as many of you with me as I can"
it was GLORIOUS
Yes this was the best part. What an epic game!
I like that you use ace combat megalith theme when explaining the titan mode, seems fitting.

Mandalore includes a clip demostrating exactly this himself at 3:05
This seriously needs to be remastered or have a sequel 2143.
"futuristic" sci-fi shit is trash. Leave that to HALO.

Anyone here from battlefield 2042 trailer?
It's a shame EA destroyed the Revive
You can still play it, check out "Battlefield2142.co" and follow the instructions.
They did not destroy anything.. Revive was run by idiots and "supposedly" got shut down because of it.. They were never asked to shut off the Master Server or Discord.. They did that cause they could care less about all the players.
Why do you think they are idiots?

Battlefield revive shutdown today (11/17/17) because of legal reasons.
RIP, had an awesome time there.
So Revive says... They were never asked to shut down the master server or the Discord.. They did that on their own accord and screwed all the players
infiniteelectronix They *were* quite literally asked to shut down their servers.

0:11 - actually, EA didn't do that. The servers were held by GameSpy, which was last owned (and shut down) by Glu Mobile. This affected numerous games from between 2001 and 2010, EA just couldn't be bothered to make a replacement.

Yes... this is smart. Obviously the best choice for humanity is to fight eachother for the last habitable part of earth so we live a couple more years. I mean, WHY would we ever work together to try to find another habitable planet and move there? Pfffff.
Insane bruh u is dumb
blue you are correct.
That's hardly enjoyable.''
You know, this might surprise you, but the whole ''K/D'' chasing literally made its first debut with the Call of Duty franchise.
Team games are rare. Cod is a "team" game but do people work together? Hell no
team games are often MMO games, mostly because dungeon raids.
it's easier to work together if game isn't PVP.
Well Overwatch and RB6 are definitely team games in competitive gold, plat and above. But yeah in quick match, teamplay is pretty much non-existent
Will-I-Am-Not Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
I hear that Augis Die. Nice try. Can't hide the Ost from us Ace Combat nerds
MOBIOUS 1 ENGAGE
10000000% agree. I can't even play the newer bf games because it feels like I'm ice skating with the sprint button.
''the squad is just a respwan point.''
Yup. That just about sums the ''battlefield'' experience ever since 2142 really.
It's so pathetic that video game ''companies'' will try to go out of their way to copy other studios ''big hit title'', only to complain about copyright law minutae when they are literally suing their own customers....
Fuck EA.
You should review Mass Effect 1 since Mass Effect Andromeda is being released soon.
Hahahhahahahahahyayayayayayayayaya
Imagine if these factions were added into 2042's portal system
Few childhood memories compare with getting the final blow on the core with an RDX demopack and then parachuting off of the exploding titan. God I miss 2142
"Punching Q harder than Sisko." That one floored me.
Still waiting for 2142 remasterd
Let's make a petition?
Not from EA tho...
@@superiorsoldier57 and that is a good thing that we won't see remake from EA. I personally don't want to see loot boxes and stuff like that in this game
This game desperately needs a sequel or a remaster.
You dont get either. But a prequel. Battlefield 2042
Boi
Take ♂ It BOY ♂
♂FUCK♂ ♂YOU!♂
Borris Stonoyanovich That's what you get for sneaking up on me like that huh
Borris Stonoyanovich CHEEKI BREEKI!! 2.2 COMING OUT LOL
lmao i wasn't the only one who heard it
4:09
A campaign and a multiplayer, wow what a golden age that was ;)
2:54 that is really funny, I never noticed that all the movie posters at the time had the same color scheme
It's about time to find another franchise where teamwork and ptfo are not just empty words. RS2 Vietnam looks like interesting choice for me.
It becoming more like COD seems like one of the smaller issues in comparison now
i was totally in love with this game. titanmode was just sooooo good.
@X X back when EA proudly presented games with game changing content and mods.
And now we're getting a prequel 100 years before 2142. With *128* player matches.
With bot support!
This didn't age very well
so how was it
11:40 Ace Combat review when?
Lolm3ist3r
Why in the world did he use the soundtrack LMAO
I love it tho
lol I heard that too and got that enormous boost of nostalgia that even battlefield 2142 couldn't give me. 12:06 That part of the theme is unmistakable and unique in it's own glorious way.
Lolm3ist3r Yes pls.
At first I was really only listening to him (My computer can't run planetside 2 so lookin for an alternative) and was like what the hell u talkin bout? Then went back and heard the megalith track. I love that game so much my first acecombat game! Can't wait for AC7! :P
MATTHI2904
He probably used it because during the megalith mission an insertion team was fighting inside of the facility, which is what the game plays showing
Now if only the "dont lone wolf it" requirement was applied to Battlefield's more current games.
Killer Orca IKR the series is really slowing down in terms of teamwork and fun factor
Watched this around 3 years ago, rewatching right now and I can say this is way better than battlefield 2042
"Tiberian Sun maps" yes lol!
would be so cool to see a Ion storm on frostbite's engine...
I SO want to see a remake of Tiberian Sun, because I actually LOVE the atmosphere.
2142 was my most favorite.titan mode was epic
One of the best BF games, so much love for that game.
Good memories of this. Still have my 2142 dogtag/usb drive that came with it.
Same!
2142 is by far the best Battlefield game.
Also Agnus Dei for the Carrier footage. Good job!
Kokoro Wish No.
11:51 Ah , a Ace combat fan od culture as well
14:20 "you're here to blow up two consoles like I said this was a PC exclusive" fucking lmao
I first started playing Battlefield games since 1942 released and 2142 ended up being my favorite. I think it's because they got to make the setting suit the gameplay, rather than try to justify gameplay decisions in a historical / real-world setting.
14:29 "or you can just do Silos" also known as the Soy Method.
Chads penetrate and obliterate and ensure it will be no good to anyone else when theyre done!
I'd follow you to hell sir.
I still have my original CD copy after all these years.
Always.
