I still consider myself a T'Wolves fan now that I live in Florida. Stephon was one of my favorite T'Wolves players and I will always remember him as a Timberwolf. I was actually at that game where Iverson came to Minnesota and played Steph their rookie season. I was so excited to have his jersey, I always wore it to school. He was awesome!
Man, I followed both of these guys when they were in HS, through college, and into the NBA. The guards from that Rookie class (Kobe, AI, Steph, Nash) changed the game when they came in. It's sad what happened to Steph. Some people can handle success, but he let it get to his head. I mean averaging 20/8? Who knows how much success him and KG would have had in Minnesota...
Marbury was AMAZING when he first came out with the wolves. Boy was like baby isiah, he was thought of in the same light that Chris Paul is thought of right now. But WAY more athletic, dunkin with his head at hte rim and his size oh BOY his size, 6'3 with an nba-body at 19 years old..... he was a DOMINANT young pointguard dat coudl score wheneva but was unselfish creating for KG and Gugliotta n them, he could SHOOT that rock 2 AND play defense, + run the offense AND was clutch, GREAT handle too.
the fact that he carries is why the opponent falls for the cross over. because he has to put the ball directly down , because if he crosses he would have a violation, and the opponents are anticipating that. and he gets away with it. he is a great one on one player when he is not carrying though.
its too bad marbury has lost his desire and love of the game. i honestly thought marbury would be the better all around player between him and iverson. i hope marbury starts playing to his potential again or goes to a team that can bring out the best in him because new york is just killing the guy.
ballerkid312... I feel you about flash in the league but Dennis Rodman was about as far from flash as you can get. That man was a down and dirty player who fought for rebounds and played hard defense. he was a great PF but he was not flashy. but i do agree with you
did u see the dunk of the year this season? it was no barely dunkin.....iverson used to dunk like crazy but he tape his ankles so tight now he dont do it like he used to... plus it take alot out of lil guys
A.I. def going to H.O.F. : MVP, ROY, Reached finals with not that great of a team. Marbury was just a big baby. Just wish he stayed with K.G. in Minnesota. Never know what may have happened.
steph:...1st round in the playoffs and thats it 0 mvp, 0allstar mvps... AI:1st, 2nd, conference, finals, 1mvp 2allstar mvps, bronze in athens... but i liked how they played together in the 2000 nba allstar with mutombo
You talk like AI has led his team to a championship... or like AI didn't get traded from a team that was the worst in the Atlantic division at the time he was traded. Don't bash Marbury to hype up AI, they both are great in terms of talent and the only reason they weren't champions was because they both lacked leadership
i think marbury lifted too many weights and it's effecting his game in a bad way. he needs to develop some kind of post game now with all the muscles he got.
shoulda kept Ray Allen instead of trading for Steph........ Steph coulda been an ALLTIME great PG though, a top 5 PG of alltime just like KG is a top 5 PF of alltime. No doubt so they did the right thing, (even though Ray ended up as one of the best 2guards of our generation and a 25 ppg scorer and number 1 option on conference finals team that was top 10 for MVP award and 8 time allstar)... Steph just mentally didnt have it in him, he isnt too bright and he messed it up for himself.
I can only say ~ "Penny! U are amazin'! PERIOD!" But if u could post AI's off-court footage, like when he's at his softball game or partyin' stuff. U'd be THE BEST! NO Freakin DOUBT!
Marbury came into the league as a bright future star. Sadly he took a turn and became a cancer to every team he goes to. His egos are too high for his own good.
No I bet the Chinese basketball players would still be 6foot+ because their professional. I mean the average American is 5'9 and you don't see many 5foot NBA players.
Stephon was a great player, but he no longer is someone that can make a team a playoff team. he seems to be a player that has moved from a star player to a role player. AI was and still is great. Wish Starbury was still as good. AI is just amazing though. Took the 76ers to the Finals with no other star palyers on that team. Marbury hasnt made the playoffs with a team as a star player. Starbury should have never left KG and the Twolves.
makes me feel old wathcing this, great memories and NbA2night was an awesome show in the 90's. Iverson cant even cross people over like he used to and go to the basket he is pretty much on his last leg and shitbury has played on about 15 different teams now i think.....truly a bust but then again alot of these so-called NBA players are.
@JoeTheGreat08 yea but jordan had help and so did larry bird, they both ha d a good supporting cast...u can't win on your own in the nba u need a team look at what happened to iverson in 00-01 against the lakers and lebron in 07 against the spurs thats a prime example on why u need a team to help you
lol are you serious? Who was the other best player on Iverson's teams during his Sixers years? Jerry Stackhouse? Keith Van Horn? LMAO The Sixers GM during the 90s and early 2000s sucked hard, and never surrounded the team with enough talent to win a championship.
God the Wolves were so much fun to watch those few years Marbury was with the team. Marbury if he had stayed, probably would've had a hall of fame career, as the T-Wolves were a great team in waiting. But instead of greatness, Marbury will be remembered by his selfishness despite being one of the better point guards in the league for a long time. Could you imagine? Garnett and Marbury in their prime on the same team? Would've been amazing to watch.
Keep up the good work
I still consider myself a T'Wolves fan now that I live in Florida. Stephon was one of my favorite T'Wolves players and I will always remember him as a Timberwolf. I was actually at that game where Iverson came to Minnesota and played Steph their rookie season. I was so excited to have his jersey, I always wore it to school. He was awesome!
man A.I is betta hands down
Keep up the great work
every kid used to try that iverson crossover..no tried the marbury hair part
Cause AI is right handed, everyone naturally goes to their dominant hand.
2:00 Similar play to the crossover against Jordan. lol.
best ankle breaker AI
haha...both these guys been my favorite players for years...still watchin iverson on denver and marbury on the knicks...great video thanks
Who knows how much success him and KG would have had in Minnesota...
i didn't even know that this was that big back in the day, you don't even hear about marbury anymore unless it's about fuss w/ the coach
crossover at 2:04 was just nasty!
Chris Bosh and Deron Williams are the new Iverson and marbury lols
back then players used to have swaggers unlike nowadays :(
marbury. be the player that i looked up to again.
most people don't realize iverson only shoots 40% from the feild and 29% from 3 piont for his career
well we all know who came out as the best player of all time in this 1996 draft. Kobe "The Black Mamba" Bryant! Kobe... YOU ARE THE MAN!
Ahhh when ESPN was good. Old school deuce and the grunge look. So sad it had to go away.
Old Skool
Marbury was AMAZING when he first came out with the wolves. Boy was like baby isiah, he was thought of in the same light that Chris Paul is thought of right now. But WAY more athletic, dunkin with his head at hte rim and his size oh BOY his size, 6'3 with an nba-body at 19 years old..... he was a DOMINANT young pointguard dat coudl score wheneva but was unselfish creating for KG and Gugliotta n them, he could SHOOT that rock 2 AND play defense, + run the offense AND was clutch, GREAT handle too.
that THE STARBURY I USE TO KNOW. HE WAS AN HECK OF A PLAYER BACK IN THE DAY, AM TALKING ABOUT CREATE A FRANCISE WITH HIM LIKE
the fact that he carries is why the opponent falls for the cross over. because he has to put the ball directly down , because if he crosses he would have a violation, and the opponents are anticipating that. and he gets away with it. he is a great one on one player when he is not carrying though.
Does Iverson ever do a right-to-left crossover? Every highlight reel I've seen his crossover is always left-to-right...
damn the nba has changed a lot
its not all about 1 player scoring the ball so much
Bosh is a PF
nba 2night was a sick show. everything in the 90's is cooler than shit now. Including starbury.
its too bad marbury has lost his desire and love of the game. i honestly thought marbury would be the better all around player between him and iverson. i hope marbury starts playing to his potential again or goes to a team that can bring out the best in him because new york is just killing the guy.
haha i use to look up to both these guys when i was a kid
marbury best killa crossver in the nba
Bird and Magic? Marbury is nowhere near either.
ballerkid312... I feel you about flash in the league but Dennis Rodman was about as far from flash as you can get. That man was a down and dirty player who fought for rebounds and played hard defense. he was a great PF but he was not flashy. but i do agree with you
This was back when NBA players didn't have that dress code
its a shame cuz Marbury had what it took to be better than Deron and just as good as Chris paul.
Iverson is an alltime great 2guard.
what has marbury done his whole career? get traded cuz he wrecked teams, thats what. iverson is a warrior and marbury is on the knicks. enough said.
stephon what the hell you did you and garnett could have been a dynasty damn you.
funny how in the video jason kidd talking about being old compared to these two... hes still playing in the finals while these two are done lol
did u see the dunk of the year this season? it was no barely dunkin.....iverson used to dunk like crazy but he tape his ankles so tight now he dont do it like he used to... plus it take alot out of lil guys
15 more years??? Yeah, right!!!
i miss iverson
what if shaq decided to go to philly instead of LA?
Why don't you all shut up! They're both far better players than you'll ever be and are two of the best PG's of the last 15 years!
OMG this was my fav nba show EVER! Fred Carter
A.I. def going to H.O.F. : MVP, ROY, Reached finals with not that great of a team. Marbury was just a big baby. Just wish he stayed with K.G. in Minnesota. Never know what may have happened.
steph:...1st round in the playoffs and thats it 0 mvp, 0allstar mvps...
AI:1st, 2nd, conference, finals, 1mvp 2allstar mvps, bronze in athens...
but i liked how they played together in the 2000 nba allstar with mutombo
ahh the famed middle of the head part a la Larry Johnson
You talk like AI has led his team to a championship... or like AI didn't get traded from a team that was the worst in the Atlantic division at the time he was traded. Don't bash Marbury to hype up AI, they both are great in terms of talent and the only reason they weren't champions was because they both lacked leadership
its funny how Stackhouse said that The Sixer were a better team when the Twolves actually made the playoffs that year.
i think marbury lifted too many weights and it's effecting his game in a bad way. he needs to develop some kind of post game now with all the muscles he got.
i would take deron williams over c.p any day. hes stronger and bigger can jump more and has a better shot than c.p
Has Allen Iverson called out set plays before?
shoulda kept Ray Allen instead of trading for Steph........
Steph just mentally didnt have it in him, he isnt too bright and he messed it up for himself.
damn look at those two today, marbury not even in nba anymore, iverson barely getting back from retirement
so funny that in 1997 kidd says he feels old. haha.
marbury was talking about rookie of the year, pay attention buddy
god what happened to tha wolves
I can only say ~ "Penny! U are amazin'! PERIOD!" But if u could post AI's off-court footage, like when he's at his softball game or partyin' stuff. U'd be THE BEST! NO Freakin DOUBT!
is that Rich Eisen???
hahahahqahahahahahahaha, toooo fuckin funny!!!!!
Marbury came into the league as a bright future star. Sadly he took a turn and became a cancer to every team he goes to. His egos are too high for his own good.
iverson is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY beta den marbury eva was
hoo mr nfl network rich eisen with hair!!! funny
BETTER than Bird and Magic :)
Iverson > Marbury i hope iverson comes back to bball
They shot 39%,smfh
4:26 < DAMN
No I bet the Chinese basketball players would still be 6foot+ because their professional. I mean the average American is 5'9 and you don't see many 5foot NBA players.
0:35 its written Garrett lol
Haha the good old days.
dude, you compared yourself to magic and bird...
funny how kidd felt old. but now he's still in the league and both of these guys are out
damn stephon couldnt keep up with a.i
Funny that 13 pick was the best :D
Stephon was a great player, but he no longer is someone that can make a team a playoff team. he seems to be a player that has moved from a star player to a role player. AI was and still is great. Wish Starbury was still as good. AI is just amazing though. Took the 76ers to the Finals with no other star palyers on that team. Marbury hasnt made the playoffs with a team as a star player. Starbury should have never left KG and the Twolves.
A.I is better than him
lol! funny...but true.
Lol I don't mean to laugh but were kinda on the same boat, I did 2 there MAD uncomfrtable!!!!
Does iverson ever do a right to left cross?
break your ankles even when watching XD
shittt...stephon marbury is not goin to the hall of fame a.i most definately is doe
makes me feel old wathcing this, great memories and NbA2night was an awesome show in the 90's. Iverson cant even cross people over like he used to and go to the basket he is pretty much on his last leg and shitbury has played on about 15 different teams now i think.....truly a bust but then again alot of these so-called NBA players are.
Maybe its still goin 15 years for them since they both play in Europe now lmao what a coincedence
Did Jason Kidd just say they make him "Feel old" in 1996? LOL.
LMAO
The Sixers GM during the 90s and early 2000s sucked hard, and never surrounded the team with enough talent to win a championship.
Jerry Brickhouse FTL!
lol those guys never had a good field goal percentage lol.
for me to think of marbury as a "all star talent" he would have to make to all star team every year.....
actually i was joking. guess sarcasm doesnt come across well on the net
Iverson is scoring well lately....Marbury....not so much.
you should have read my comment very carefully. the best player to come out from the 1996 NBA DRAFT is kobe bryant!
lmao rivalry like magic vs bird man they were wayyyyyyy off
i meant Chris Paul. lols i got -3
@DaGreatTim Stephon plays for 'Zhongyu Basketball Club', the average height of this team is about 6 feet 7 inches, btw, am Chinese.
lol! he said "a rivalry like magic and bird" lol! not exactly
Both of them just highlights der ole now, and ringless lmao
@doctorsex09- ONE PLAYER CAN WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP.. MICHEAL JORDAN WON 6 CHIPS FOR THE BULLS... LARRY BIRD WON A CHAMPIONSHIP BY HIMSELF..
@BadNFlu3nz Hahahahaahah nicely put. I mean did you see the star that on Stephon Marbury's head? Whatta swagaholic
@darylxu123 Yeah they were two that underachieved.
@escobosa83 Marbury had one good year in Phoenix and two good years in New Jersey that was it.
stackhouse 34 points, 0 rebounds woot
God the Wolves were so much fun to watch those few years Marbury was with the team.
