Cris Escarcega Naw because they drafted knowing they’d have to trade him and they did so thinking Divac’s was better than taking another chance @ 13 on some other player they’d keep and have to let grow. They got 2 nice All Star seasons out Vlade but they definitely could have done better out of this Draft class it just wouldn’t have been Kobe no matter which you shape it Kobe wasn’t playing for The Hornets. That was known before the draft.
Cris Escarcega And btw Cris , I was just giving you the heads up because I figured you’re probably to young to know, just judging by your comment , so there’s really no way to know how things played out unless you see it while it’s happening because things always look different in hindsight and they usually try to paint it differently too. I’m Kobe’s age so I remember it , I was stoked on him. Before that players didn’t jump straight to the Pros from HighSchool. There was 1 player all time before Kobe & KG but after they hit it went crazy all of a sudden for half a decade if not longer. Moses Malone I think it was the player before Kobe & KG. Kobe & A.i. were the only player I had payed any attention to in a few years, which a few years seems like forever when you’re a kid. So Kobe & Allen Iverson got me back into buying some cards and paying attention again. I saw Iverson In College and he was the 1st dude that hit me like Jordan and then out of nowhere within the year-6mo prior to the draft this kid coming out of HighSchool no 1 had really ever heard of named Kobe Bryant started being talked about & some HighSchool Highlights being showed more & more , 6mo out from the draft he was everywhere but the 1st time I saw him was lil more than a yr out if I recall & I was like Yo who’s this dude , then the 2nd time I saw him from there on out I started buying magazines with him and every single High school card & predraft cards I could find. It was dope, there was a lot of off the court cards of his like really no player prior because he didn’t play college & they were trying to promote him so they were making cards of him in baseball caps lol but the Best were the actual High School cards you could find. I was actually A Hornets fan back then because of Larry Johnson but he had just been traded to The Knicks and so I was hoping somehow the Hornets would keep Kobe and make him play for them or sit out that yr. and thus he would end up playing for Hornets because of it but obviously it didn’t happen and they traded him for who @ that time I thought was 1 of the goofiest dudes in the NBA lol but as I got older I realized what a G Vlade was/is. Kobe went to the Lakers so I didn’t stay as much of a fan for very long. Bummed me out because when he 1st was brought out to the mainstream we didn’t know he wanted to play for the Fakers immediately , it wasn’t until closer to the Draft that talk started coming out and thus I was already on the Kobe train, I just wasn’t able to stay on for long. He’s Dope , he just didn’t stay in my All Time favorite players list. Larry Johnson Michael Jordan & Allen Iverson are & were far too Good to have a Bean on their List with them. Only on their poop List. 😁😉 LeBron & Steph have joined the G List with LJ , Mike & A.i. but not no Jelly Beans Lol. Hope you enjoy the read. If not no worries I’m not mad @ ya. Just wanted to make sure you know I wasn’t being mean when I was letting you know what’s up with The Kobe trade. We all knew he was supposed to go to The Fakers ( which I can’t believe LeBron sighed there. Ehhh ) but I was still holding on hope that somehow it wouldn’t happen, then when he was drafted by The Hornets and still traded to the Lakers it just made it worse. Lol Gotta love it.

They got 2 nice All Star seasons out Vlade but they definitely could have done better out of this Draft class it just wouldn’t have been Kobe no matter which you shape it Kobe wasn’t playing for The Hornets.
That was known before the draft.
Kobe told them he didn't want to play for the Hornets and the only team he wanted to join was the Lakers.
James Wang
Exactly. ☝️

And btw Cris , I was just giving you the heads up because I figured you’re probably to young to know, just judging by your comment , so there’s really no way to know how things played out unless you see it while it’s happening because things always look different in hindsight and they usually try to paint it differently too.
Larry Johnson
Michael Jordan &
Allen Iverson are & were far too Good to have a Bean on their List with them.
Only on their poop List. 😁😉
LeBron & Steph have joined the G List with
LJ , Mike & A.i. but not no Jelly Beans
Lol. Hope you enjoy the read. If not no worries I’m not mad @ ya.
Just wanted to make sure you know I wasn’t being mean when I was letting you know what’s up with The Kobe trade.
We all knew he was supposed to go to The Fakers
( which I can’t believe LeBron sighed there. Ehhh )
but I was still holding on hope that somehow it wouldn’t happen, then when he was drafted by The Hornets and still traded to the Lakers it just made it worse. Lol
Gotta love it.

Shereef was the real deal back in the day
My favorite draft class. People drool over the '03 class because of 3 or 4 guys, but look at all THESE GAMERS. Deep.
Lebron, Melo,Bosh,Korver,Wade I mean 96 had Nash,Bryant and iverson
Only one I don't remember outta top ten was samaki walker. That says something. This class was crazy
Lakers came up on the 96' draft!!
Kobe and Steve Nash was the best greatest player of that class 😍
RIP kobe
Iverson
Iverson
96” Draft was monsters
2009 was sick too James harden, Blake griffin, Stephen curry, demar deRozen
Yeah. Very sick and soft.
Plz Dont ever compare James Harden to anybody in the 96' draft class ever again...
Blake? 😂
Yea that’s a nice Draft but nothing compared to 96.
9 6 went all the way into the 2nd Rd. of known quality player and Ben Wallace wasn’t even drafted but went on to Win multiple DPOY Awards, rebounding titles and an NBA Championship
@@marvin7533 In the Soulja Boy Voice right? Lol
It was great being a fan in the 90s
They all got drafted on my six birthday I'm 27 now damn time fly
The league should have an alumni game; all the retired greats vs each other.
I thought they used to do that in the allstar game but everyone was usually out of shape
totally agree
they used to but there were some serious injuries so the NBA junked the old timers game
I agree with you but should be like east greats vs west greats
been saying that for 15years
This draft class was 🔥
I miss Iverson ;-;
That’s an all time great Draft class.
11 all stars from one single draft class is simply amazing
The same people that say D-Rose is fragile, D-Rose will break his knee every year, are the same people that are now saying "I'm very happy he's on our team".
Why talk about D Rose in a draft class highlight?
+Jasen Effendy fr tho😂😂
IM HAPPY
What ? Knicks fans weren't the only people make fun of the constant injuries hell Bulls fans were making jokes too
I never made fun of D-Rose being injury-prone. I know he is injury-prone, and I am still glad he is playing for my home team.
Kobe the best guy out that class
OH GEE!! I DIDN'T KNOW THAT!!!!!
Never realized how Beastly this draft was
This is most likely the deepest draft class ever! Definitely top 3 draft classes of all time!
This video really should've had Ben Wallace. I know he went undrafted and went straight into free agency for the 1996-97 season, but he was also one of the best defensive players that the league ever saw.
This draft Class produced 3 MVP’s
With Iverson in the Hall of frame, Byrant surely, Nash and Allen very likely to be there also.
Who the hell is byrant?
Boy shareef smh aint heard that name in YEARS
Watching this and hearing names I haven't heard in a decade was wild as hell
People underrate Camby. He was so talented on the defensive end. Couple that with excellent passing for a centre - he was a beast. If only he was more offensive minded too.
Iverson, Marbury, Wallace, Nash, Camby... I miss these days. Kobe, Allan and Oneal... Staaaaaacked draft class.
