  • Pitta imbalance symptoms consist of inflammation in the skin or joints, anger, criticism, jealousy, anger and other heated emotions.
    What is the pitta dosha?
    Pitta is made up of fire and water and therefore carries many hot, oily, sharp and light qualities. The personality of pitta body type for example, tends to be intense, goal-oriented and focused.
    Pitta imbalance signs and symptoms
    - Inflammation in body, joints and skin
    - Burning indigestion
    - Acid reflux and heartburn
    - Acne, skin rash, cold sores
    - Anger, jealousy, irritability
    - Diarrhea
    - Over perfectionism
    - Impatient and intolerant
    Recommendations to pitta-pacify your diet
    - Eat sweet, bitter and astringent tastes
    - Consume cooler foods and herbs in temperature and energy like cilantro, coconut, and grapes.
    - Avoid spicy foods and spices!
    - Chew your food until all one consistency.
    - Eat without distraction and in a peaceful environment.
    Recommendation to pitta-pacify your lifestyle
    - Lunar pranayama. This breathing exercise cools the body off and relaxes the mind
    - Abhyanga. Self-oil massage with coconut or sunflower oil
    - Eye washingModerate exercise such as yin yoga, swimming, hiking
    - Focus on letting go of control
    - Cultivate non-judgment to overcome natural tendencies of criticism and anger.
    - Find balance in the 5 senses.
    - Pitta should find cooling colors or blue and green in the surroundings, as well as focusing on calming essential oils like peppermint, lavender, sandalwood, and rose.

    Excellent advice. It’s taken me the past five months to figure out that this is my issue. Inflammation and flushed chest, face and ears. Dry eyes. At night my body feels like it’s on fire. Going to try these methods. Subscribed! Thanks!

    Also during luteal phase which is Pitta phase I crave salty and strong and cacao flavours which makes my period SO much worse and it really makes sense now why,stimulants are horryfing for me,I am SO angry but also anxious which makes me even more angry ,ugh I think I am more Pitta than Vata ,thought I was dual but really Pitta is my character ,I am just underweight which really bothers me and confuses me

      Србомбоница i would also suggest some pitta breathing exercises to balance any putts stress. Cooling pranayama, deep breathing pranayama, walk in nature and yin yoga would help cool your mind down :) :) So cool to see you making more and more connections to your mind and body!

    Ph plays higher role in pitta than other forces, if pitta is increaced oily stuff and consistancy Will play a balancing flaw in pitta but consistancy disbalance secondarly

    I’m a vata-kaha dosha, but I think I have excess Pitta. I thought I was peri menousal (dry mouth, fissured tongue, mouth ulcer, dry lips, eczema, scaly and dry legs, dry hair, hair loss and grey hair. Plus an onset of allergies). It’s too much!!

    Thanks Claire. I came to your video after hearing that the slightly upturned upper lip I have could be due to a pitta balance. Would you say that is true? Anything I can do? I believe a lot in emotional states affecting our anatomy.

    I feel an acidic tingling in my scalp. Yes, I am at times, exceedingly pointy. I weight lift. I have suffering in agony with acid reflux. I've cut out all spicy foods, which sucks. I've cut out ice cream completely since this time last year. I've gone gluten free since last may. I've changed the dairy, or milk, to almond milk, oatmilk. Now, the acid is different. It's not like stomach acid. It's more a slow constant burn, but less intense than stomach acid. I've read about bile reflux and that goes up the esophagus, larynx, and nasopharynx, burning all the way. I have to clean the back of my tongue several times a day. Soury taste. The burning scalp is something I've begun to notice in the last two months that's increasingly getting worse.

      sounds a bit like silent reflux? Avoid lying down or big efforts for a couple of hours after eating. Avoid eating for 3 hours before bedtime. Raise the head part of your bed. You may have too little stomach acid actually. Many people do better with some HCI with betaine to help digest their meals (and often adding digestive enzymes too) as long as no ulcer..

    Would high blood pressure be associated with a pitta imbalance? Or would that be with a different dosha?

      Debbie Mirza Hi Debbie! So I’m just starting to dive into the circulatory system in my Ayurveda school studies and from what I’m learning, high blood pressure or any blood pressure is typically related to the vata dosha, because of its connection to the circulatory system.
      Of course, there can be a pitta influence, but vata will always be involved because of the movement and circulation of the blood. As I learn and practice more I would love to share more specifics with all of you!

    having pitta in balance brings into the norms or the balanced mesurements for pittas , and the qualities being balanced are : oilyness , sharpness , witness , motivation , sharpness . if thoes are balanced you will epiriance better drive higher rate of actions , lesser blamereadyness , you will likely achieve your tarets better, slower

      I know my body comes under pitta dosha.
      Now my body is very very out of balance. High aggression many times and very high acidity hurtburns so much so that couldn't sleep. Doctor would give me acidity tablet but after few days same thing would happen. Glad I got to know about this. I'll definitely take your suggestions.
      All the symptoms you mentioned are accurate, now I know whats the problem.
      I'll avoid spicy food, and surely add more sweet and bitter foods

    Non competitive sports for a Pitta is no fun and yoga is torture for a PItta which is why I don't do it. Thanks for the other tips on Pitta imbalance. Great information.

      Hehe I can understand you. Hard to be non-competitive, even at yoga... but that is the whole point. Trying to stay in balance. Do what you can, avoid what imbalances you (can be different for different people in terms of relative importance) and hopefully that will work for you.

    Eating cooling spices is only ONE aspect of pacifying pitta imbalance. In fact, for me at least, a small part. Summer heat and mental overstimulation are more important aspects to take into account.
    I would be wary of doing the eye washing. I can see why you are recommending it. If anyone is going to try it out ensure you use sterile water (NOT tap water or worse). People have lost their eyesight from washing their contacts in tap water, for instance.
    I am off to spray some rose hydrosol on my face though. Always good.

      Coriander is a gift from God, in my humble opinion. I also use rice water (obtained from rinsing basmati rice) to rinse my face and hair, and that is very cooling. And all things coconut, as well. Mouth taping has also been very helpful for me recently. Maranatha.

Therefore, I choose to follow Ayurveda ONLY for the dietary principles and also I choose to believe that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.     in regards to food what about if you are allergic or need to eat meat like b blood type diet ?

      If you are pitta dosha, then the only meat recommended is white meat of poultry (chicken, turkey), shrimp, lake/stream fish (no salt water fish), rabbit, venison, buffalo, and egg whites (no egg yolks). Milk ok. But needs to be taken separately and spiced.

    Hi ,I am 29 years old male. I have been suffering from pitta imbalance from a long time. I have tried everything I studied complete ayurveda but could not find the solution to the following
    1. Under eye puffiness , deep lines below eyes.
    2. Hair loss, I have lost almost 70% hair on top of my head and now they have started greying.
    I follow a pitta pacifying diet. I eat apples, amla , cucumbers, bitter and astringent foods too, no smoking or drinking
    Still I am unable to counter this , please recommend something more if you can.

    Can Pitta be underweight?I always struggle to gain weight and now I realise I always ate too much salty ,hot and sour foods,maybe thats was why I never could gain weight ugh,I wonder if following strictly Pitta diet will help me gain weight ?I know fermented foods was the WORST for me also bananas tomatoes dark chocolate ,thought it was histamine related ,now I really connect it with my Pitta constipation

      Србомбоница Mm yes i hear you. Pittas can be under weight. There could be a much more contributing to your weight loss beyond just food. Stress level, fear, guilt, low Ojas are also things that could be contributing to it as well. But it’s best to start with diet habits and then that will let you know if it’s helped or not. Pitta does best with cooling, grounding foods :)
