Steamed Rice Cake
1 Bag Rice Flour
1 Bag Tapioca Flour
1 1/2 Cups of Sugar
4 Cups of Water
1 Cup Rice Flour
4 Cups of Water (cook over medium low heat)
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
2 1/2 tsp Dry Instant Yeast
Let rise for 1 hour before steaming
Steam for 10 minutes
For larger cake pans steam anywhere from 15-20 minutes
This is the best well explained and accurate measurement I've ever watched. ❤❤
Mine turned out nothing like it did in the video... When done steaming they cakes fell and became a chewy tapioca consistency. I followed the directions step by step and my cakes turned out like what you would find in bubble tea. It's a no go for me.
Yong puto na gawa ng mga ilocano noong araw na nabibili ko noon sa baguio city hindi ko na muling natikman sa ngayon, iba ang lasa ng mga puto ngayon. Masarap talaga yon.
Tried your recipe but used wheat starch instead of tapioca flour, it turned out the same as yours. Great recipe. Thanks for sharing

You for sharing us Godbless..
Really love this recipe!! The texture is just how I like it! I would add more sugar to make it a bit sweeter and next time I'll let it rest a bit longer also. Thanks for the recipe!!!!! Super fast and easy!!!
Tried this recipe but it did not turn out as expected,. It was very sticky due to the large amount of tapioca starch. It's more a "kutsinta" rather than a "puto" in the Phili[ines, But anyway thanks for sharing your recipe, Lina. Happy New year!
Faustina Odina i try too same its look like kutsinta & very sticky.. i am dissapointed😞😞😞😞
Ur voice is so cute and calming,I love ur vids and I hope that you continue to improve and grow ur channel good luck...

Maria Teresa Goddard Oooh... A cake pan! I would love puto cake!
They look so cute and delicious but I'm way to scared to even try and make them. Maybe I can find somewhere that sells them here.
Very very clever!!! I knew it ,it's gonna be delicious. I wonder if I can put the batter in a full pan cake and steam it! Thank you in advance
instead put in a muffin tray
What size is your molder? 1oz or 2oz? In your recipe how many rice cakes you made? Hoping to get an answer from you. Thanks
Hello Dear Lina’s Swt kitchen, I tried it , thanks a lot for the Right measurements ingredients 😄, and My family also request receipe of another steam cake but not to sweet, do you have it?
Hi! I made a batch of these but for some reason they keep deflating after I take them out of the steamer.
My cake deflated like a blob. It did rise with bubbles. Why is my cake cannot hold up the shape?
I followed this recipe but the rice cakes didn't rise at all. It also had a gooey texture instead of a bun with little holes in it. Not sure what I did wrong.
Where can I buy the cup from? It the cup are plastic I try one time with plastic all melted down
You need to say the weight of the ingredients in kilograms or standard measuring cups and spoons. We don't have these product brands here in my country (Brazil).
You can use only corn flour and rice flour (if you don't have rice flour, you can ground any type of rice of your choice).
So if I make like 6 bage is okay for cover let it rise for 1 hour? Or do I need more hrs.
Ey, I am wonder i let it sit one hour but it seem like it was still growing when I put in a small cup. I am wonder did i do something wrong I follow follow every step
I wish that when you vlog your recipe PLEASE complete your instructions not everybody is quick to pick up, as a beginner we need the complete procedure / Presentation e.g steaming process???
Rice flour ilang kilo po yun 1 bag at yung tapioca ilang kilo po yung 1 bag

Hi Lina, I love to watch and use this 7 year old simple recipe because it's easy to follow compare to other difficult recipes.
Thank you.
Bakit plastic cups? Delikado ang pagkain pag linagay sa plastic na naiinitan. Nakaka taas ng hypertension yan according to my research. At may iba pang sakit na nakukuha.
Love it.....thank you for sharing.....cheers from cyprus
I like learn how to cook, but, here I am writing, looking, all the time about how you did the steam sweet rice using cup cakes, they are sooo fine n awesome, any particular store I can buy the cups instead of cupcakes pls. Con't your talent.
What do u mean by one bag rice flour. We all have dff size bags. Cups and grams are universal. Pls those are preferable. I also wish i had cut open a rice cake
What is your moulder maam? It seems the puto is taller
Hi Lina - I like this recipe, the only thing is, the quantity is too big to make especially for a smaller family and to cut the recipe in half is sometimes a problem to make even but thank you for sharing this recipe.
nees ng baking powder para maging sponge cia.kse pagwala baking powder parang kunsinta.need mo tryuna magluto ng isa para malaman kung ok na un pag alsa nya.pag kase kulang sa baking pwder d cia aalsa.
Wow we call this Abolo in my country.. I’m from Ghana west African . In addition to your ingredients we add corn flour
Did the batch you made in this video seem enough for a big Khi Tes ceremony? I noticed you steamed white ones first in the video, 3 batches of those little cups then? or did you happen to get more? I plan to make some for my first newborn's khi tes ceremony next weekend.
I have a question, I bought a package of this at my Asian store, I should have thought it would be more dense because it was a heavy package, And I took a bite out of it and it was like weird, wasn't soft it was firm, am I supposed to do anything special to it, like microwave it for a few seconds, I thought maybe it was for a soup to be in a water or something so I watch a video or two my but that's just for making it and you guys said it's soft, I'm assuming I should put it in a microwave till it gets soft, I'm storing it in a fridge it came out of a fridge type area at the Asian store
My mom used to get these at a Hmong market
Pwede ba yang gamitin ang plastic shot glass ang nipis nyan hindi yan makahandle nang high heat.
How many gram is that 1 pack of rice flour and tapioca flour? What i get here is 600gm per pack...
Thanks for sharing this idea yummy recipe.. Done support
Plastic containers leach out harmful chemicals especially if you put hot mixtures in them. Those chemicals are really bad for children too.
I wish you would have shown what kind of cups you used and wheee you purchased them.

Great presentation. Thank you for sharing. Baby Alcaraz
Hi Lina! Thank you for this unique dessert. Although it didn't come out as I expected and no rise either. However it came out more like silkworm cake dessert. It tasted real good with some grinded roasted sesame seed, peanuts, salt, sugar. Very creative.
Try tweaking the recipe. I know when I travel to MN I have to adjust the amount of tapioca starch. Make sure the yeast is fresh and rapid rise.
Dich tieng viet di ban minh rat thich an banh bo xốp ,minh tin cong thuc nay hoai ma tim k thấy
thank you so much for sharing. so yummy looking. i will definitely make this one.
I did exactly per your recipe however when taken out of the steamer they deflated. Why?
Please let me know where can I get the cup cake mold? Thank you so much for sharing your recipe.
