The dog was a nice addition actually
I agree, super cute, I want to go there just to play with all the doggies! ❤️
I’ll forever be a fan, solely for how well you guys treated that dog. He really wanted playtime
They handle it like a BOSS and made the whole review look REAL like they preach they do
That dog definitely lives there. I see him there all the time, very friendly!
I hope the fires didn’t cause a disruption to the TFL family members. Stay safe, warm and continue with the great videos.
Thank you for the concern. TFL team is fine, but our friends were affected.
@@TFLoffroad It would be cool when you can test the new Mercedes G-Klasse Off-road! (;
I live in No Snowlandia, it all looks like so much fun. Especially when a random happy dog shows up. Best day ever.
What?
I just moved to get away from snow land. Miss it some but not dealing with it everyday is nice! Can always visit it.
@@Enchanted3DPrints , just like an Ex- wife!
Tommy: It’s a cliff
Roman: KEEP GOING, IT’S AN ADVENTURE
😂LOL
That dog was so happy to have Roman playing with him
I love these little father son excursions in the snow. Roman loves his son, praising him all the time. 👍🏻👍🏻Oh yeah and the cool dogs hanging out.
Seems like a really nice truck, great job on the video.
I really NV you both for making father and son memories.
I always drove front wheel drive Olds and Saturn wagons in the heavy snow when I was a kid in Pittsburgh and New York. Come to think of it the 94 neon and 86 Corolla were great too.
Wow, what a beautiful area to film in. The Red Tundra backed by the mountains, evergreens, and snow. Every truck guys loves how clean your tires get in fresh clean snow. Tundra doing the things people dream of when they cut that big check at the dealer. TY
Roman I like the old style shifter too. Great video! Driving around on a snowy day in beautiful Colorado with your son enjoying the awesome Tundra. Beautiful country out west ! Nice Video Tom!
Really enjoyed your video! Thanks for showing us the New Tundra, Its bad ass. I am happy with my 2018 model and will keep it in the family and just get another tundra next year or two. Curios of the hybrid model, since it produces more power. Also, that dog scene was great, glad you kept it in the video, shows your true personality and viewers liked that.
you guys live in such a beautiful area, love the Father/Son interactions...keep up the great work!!!
Love the truck, love dogs and the snow! 50 in NJ today…. Tmrw brings cold temps yay!
I've got Falcon Wildpeak AT3W's on my 4Runner and they are excellent in snow, rain and mud. Went up both Imogene and Engineer pass this past summer after the monsoon rains and they climbed over everything in their path. I know the ones on the Tundra are less aggressive, but this is my first experience with Falcon tires and I'm impressed.
Hope you guys are not affected by the wild fires. Stay safe.
I have had them for a couple years. Excellent tires and have the snow flake rating.
@Self Made Auto I've had both k02 and wildpeak at3w on my truck here in colorado. I thought the k02 was slightly better in hard pack / icey conditions, the at3w is better in deeper snow. The k02 is a softer compound, which also don't last as long, which is why they are better in hard pack/ice. I got 40k out of my ko2s, my at3w have 12k on now and look brand new still. Both are great tires.
@Self Made Auto KO2s are garbage.
My brother lives in Colorado, now I see why! Beautiful!
Love these guys! They could've edited out the dog but kept it in. Goes to show they're always good sports no matter what happens. Thanks for the content TFL!
The dog is the highlight of the whole video
@@paulhunter9613 exactly! That's why I love these guys, just good guys all around
@@Pantelifts10 I'm saying I'm glad they didn't edit out the dog
Love your videos, but this title is misleading. I was expecting to see the new Tundra's performance going through snow or unplowed roads, not driving on plowed or snowpacked roads and just going through the little bit of snow that the plow left and intersections. I want to know how it will handle where I live (Afton, MN) when we get 20 inches of snow and it takes 2 days for a plow to come by. Thanks.
Did y'all really just drive right by the guy who was broke down?
He had that "I'm not a fan of that Tundra new front end"-sort of look on his face as they drove by...
@@TedHawk I thought look was "help not sure what happened to my go"
We went back after filming and he was fine.
Was thinking the same thing and trolling the comments to see if it was addressed. Thanks.
@@TFLoffroad good on you but maybe hit pause for a second or just a quick stop and check.
I really appreciate all these 2022 Tundra videos because each one reinforces how utterly lucky I feel to have purchased a 2020. I like having all the things that the 2022 doesn't and miss none of the things it has that the 20-21's don't.
😆 like fuel economy
I totally agree with you. And they never tell you what kind of gas mileage they get because it is horrible. That new engine is not giving them the gas mileage they said it would. Good thing they did not get stuck because they have no tow hooks to pull them out.
@@CanadianProho I don't buy trucks for fuel economy.
@@stevenlefebvre2991 they did a full episode on gas mileage, if you’re interested look it up 😆. And they did get listed mpg by the way. Tow hooks are for posers, they want it for looks but will never us it. I’d rather have another feature in the truck than tow hooks. If you ever get stuck there are many options for pulling a vehicle out, in fact most times you will not have access to your tow hooks as they’re buried.
@@CanadianProho Missing front recovery hooks will cost them thousands of sales in Northern climates.
I am glad that Toyota Tundra doesn't have AWD system like some other trucks. Those AWD systems have wet clutch pack central differential which can go hot under heavy use and will stop working till cool down. Part time 4WD system has chain or gear driven transfer case, does not get hot and more robust.
Exactly
Not to mention they complain about the price being 57k, but then two seconds later they complain that there is no heating steering wheel and no full time AWD. Guess what TFL that will make the truck more expensive if those things are added.
That's exactly what I've been saying!
People want an AWD truck or want a 4WD truck?
4WD Auto is not AWD. Its a normal transfer case that drives normally in 2HI but when the computer detects wheel spin it engages 4HI .
@@cnoyes72 what's a normal transfer case? A real 4WD transfer case locks via gears/ hub. These 4WD-AUTO transfer cases uses clutches, like some of your AWD crossovers/ sedans.
I just got some falken Wildpeaks A/T on my Q7. These tires have been amazing on road, off and in the limited snow we get around Seattle. Coming from a performance all season these are not much louder, drive at speed just as nice and handle the snow very well, super impressed.
Yes, I have 33" Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires (came OEM on my Gladiator) but given the lack of snow this year here in Colorado Springs, have not been able to test them much in snowy conditions. :-(
-- BR
@Self Made Auto what a useful and insightful reply
@Self Made Auto Interesting, but people say KO2s are garbage. :-(
So maybe we both should have gotten Wrangler DuraTracs? ;-)
-- BR
I have the Wildpeaks at3w on my Tacoma. Great in the snow.
@@billredding2000 I’m sure the Ko2 is better for off road, but the Wildpeaks are way better on road. That is where they really shine, a good AT tire that is also rated for 149 mph, handles well in the corners and drives quiet on the highway.
Great truck, great crew, gorgeous wonderland
I picked mine up last week. I'm thrilled with it so far. Thanks for the video.
I’m definitely glad they talked about the traction control. My 2010 tundra would cut way to much power when it would spin and it would almost leave me stuck in the middle of a busy road. Not sure if or when I’ll be getting a new tundra
Hold the traction control button for three seconds . That will shut off all the Nannie’s (when in 4x4) spin away
@@robertrousseaux1059 Concur. I have a Tundra 4x4 And this is how you solve your problem.
New look of the Tundra is way better than previous ones. Locking diff is a great addition finally. I'm surprised there are no tow hooks. I'm not crazy about that giant screen but I'm sure many people like it. I think my 16' Tacoma will most likely be replaced by the next gen Tacoma. Great video as always.
I have the Wildpeaks AT3/W on my XJ and they are have been amazing in snow. the w is the important part because those have the little peaks and snow rated.
I want to try those after my bfgs are wore out
@@freedomisntfree_44 how do you like the bfgs in the snow?
@@calisthenicsforlife177 no snow where I am, mud not so great but to be expected from all terrains. Anything else they are great like rock or gravel. Pretty quiet on the road too. Bad thing is they are 33x10.50r15s and there aren’t many choices in that size lol have them in an 03 Tacoma.
@Self Made Auto KO2's aren't as good in snow, especially if there's any layer(s) of ice. The Falken A/T3W with 3 peaks will run circles around anything BFG makes in snow.
@Self Made Auto are you a robot auto reply? You say the same thing on every comment.
We just got a 2024 Tundra as a company vehicle and I actually love the shifter for the fact that it is super easy to shift gears without looking. The screen seems comically huge, however when you have maps pulled up, you can see a huge part of the area which is super helpful.
I used auto4wd one day when it was slippery and two days later I realized it was still engaged. My truck is a 2015 Sierra and wish a light would show on the dash which 4wd system is on. The light on the dial is barely noticeable. The system is real smooth, quiet and only noticed when I was making a very tight turn.
I had a 14' sierra slt and i left my truck in auto most of the time unless i was on a highway road trip or something
I dont have the auto t-case, but agree the light on the dial is easy to miss. I once drove down a cleared highway and only realized when parking it was still in 4x4. Now i keep the habit of always leaving it in 2wd when i park.
Well done gentlemen, thanks for the ride!
Awesome video....
Turbo charged one? Is there a non turbo option?
I don’t believe so; there’s just a de-tuned work truck trim. I think he just meant non-hybrid
Previous Gen / surely mentioning this is the all new and not the old V8
Deleting the V8 engine as an option was the most heinous crime committed by toyota. Hurts me as a fanboy.
Nope
@@GRcorolla-bt3mn as crazy as it sounds. Coming from a 5.7 tundra. This new motor configuration is more powerful and tows way better. It surprised me.
Filming when a dog shows up and wants to play…Win. Best vid 😂
did you go back and help that guy with his hood up?
Can’t believe they just drove right by him.
Came here to ask the same question.
Scenery? Boss. 👍🏻
The red looks amazing in the snow.
Beautiful video. The Nav Screen seems 1 or 2 inches too high. Is it obtrusive? Have not sat in the Tundra yet!
thanks for showing my rav4 in the back ground.iam from calgary alberta mine is exactly like that one.
Betty good buys I’m looking forward to upgrade my 2012 limited tundra
I thumbed this up as soon as i saw the scenery. Beautiful!
So in my Ram 1500, should i select 4 Auto, 4 Hi or 4 low when its snowing outside and roads are fairly covered?
"Heated seats not as good" "No heated steering wheel"
I had to walk 10 miles to school in the snow uphill both ways with no shoes.
....all while chasing a skinny blue bird making a beep beep noise.
I had to go thru the same thing when going to school except I had to carry my younger brother an sister 😳
Hey guys hope yiur all day well. I'm looking to but my first truck and wanted a 2022. Here's my question, which truck would you recommend a Tundra or Tacoma? Pros and cons?
Do you have to have the subscription service for their radio and such to be able to use the remote functions on the key fob like they are doing on other Toyota products?
My 2010 Tundra with Nitto Terra Grapplers was awesome in the snow. I expect my 2021 and the new model to do as well.
Awesome!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Can you guys do a comparison of snow tires vs all terrain or mud on a truck? Winter tires are cheap out here and i wonder if there is any advantage to actually using a snow tire on a truck. Or do knobby all terrains grip better in deep snow?
Roman's heavy breathing is becoming the channel's prominent feature just as Tony Soprano's of the show:)). Great ride and great dad-son chemistry 👌
I love the dog! Made my day 🤣
Excelent work guys!
"gotta keep the dog out of our filming"
no way, that good boy earned an extra like for the video!
I agree with leaving the dog in the video, I used to fish at a lake that you had to walk down a trail to get to it. And along the trail a big black lab would come bounding up to you with a rock in his mouth wanting you to throw it. Labs are such lovable friendly dogs
I have Falken Wildpeak AT3W on my 21 Tundra Platinum and they're great ! Snow ❄ 🏔 🌨 Rated and look fantastic too !
GR8 Video, Have you ever tried this Tundra in any actual Deep snow or just the minimal snow? Also you used the AC when apparently in Auto mode it is Auto and no need to turn on the AC seperatly, or at least on my 23 Tundra Limited.
I’m in Thornton CO hope you all at TFL are staying safe from the recent fires
Great video of theTundra guys, lots of snow in Montezuma and Tommy's 2nd dog , a buddy for Blaze, thats not cold weather for heated seats come to Winnipeg, i normal temp right now is 20 below in the daytime and 32 below at night, thats a test, my 89 Volvo 240 DL with new Michelin X-Ice tires does awesome was out on the lake on Wednesday ice fishing and drove up and down the river bank without issues, so did the heated seats. and like you said it comes down to the snow tires, especially the compound 1st , tread pattern is 2nd, studs are outlawed in many places, they damage the roads too much, Roman i met a new Tundra owner here in Winnipeg on Tuesday, it was White with that same interior as yours and tires, he loves the truck and the heated seats, he said the tires are really good on the extremely icy road we have now and doesn't care if it had the 4WD auto, the truck drives fine, these are the ultimate test conditions Winnipeg roads currently, great video, great adventure 👍
Great video! The Hansel and Gretel comment was too funny!
what would be the biggest BF KO2 tires you could safely put on your tundra TRD off road or winter/mud? I love my KO2, just got them, so haven't really tested them in snow but hear they are good....thanks
I have them on my 3rd gen 4runner. They do pretty well in Flagstaff. I haven't tried to blaze a trail virgin several feet deep powder yet though.
I would love to see that scenery in person 😍😍
Love the dog… keep come back for more snow throw game. 😄😄😄😄
Great work, but that puppy makes it better fellas. Happy New Years 😁😁
“Hansel and Gretel” 🤣
Great video and Beautiful view in Colorado mountains.
I'm a fan of General Grabber at2 has three peaks and provision for studs.
Dogs, father son quipping back and forth. Great video!
Falken Wildpeak AT3 is a 3peak snow rated tire..one of the best in existence since it hit the market 5yrs ago. I’ve been running them for 3yrs. Not sure what you guys got AT3wa?
This!
Yes I am wondering what tire they have. I have the factory AT3WA with my 19 Ram. They are 3Peak rated. I am surprised at how good their performance is in the snow/winter roads here in BC Canada. Only issue ive had is their traction in town on ice/compace snow. I am running them year round but have been thinking about getting the studded Nokian LT3 tires for a dedicated winter and upgrading the summers with new wheels and a bit bigger tire possibly still the Wildpeak AT3W.
I have to say I am not impressed with how my Cooper Discover perform even though they are snow rated. They perform just fine on ❄ roads but they just suck once the snow starts turning to ice. Throwing my Bridgestone Blizzaks on for sure on my next mountain trip. Designated snow tires are just 👏 on snow and ice
Thanks for promoting snow tires. Here in Europe it's a no-brainer. In winter you need snow tires unless it never snows where you live. And they are excellent on cold wet roads too.
Can you do a side by side off road comp between the new and old tundra? The new one looks flimsy on the front and back bumper compared to the prior.
Which trail is this that TFL went to would love to go up their myself with my truck
I have Falken Wildpeak AT3W's on both my Wrangler and my wifes Cherokee Trailhawk. We live in the mountains of WV, and absolutely swear by these tires.
Great video, can we get Mr Trucks opinion on the truck? Him and Andre have a great chemistry.
They gotta add tow hooks on this thing, that is beautiful as well, wish I could bring my old taco up there or snow a lot in Alabama
Having no tow hooks for the sake of aerodynamics? They did do much engineering on this new truck but couldn't come up with a way to integrate tow hooks? SMH...
Looks like you might get a little snow in Bama Monday morning….hehe. Can’t wait
@Self Made Auto always better to have em if you need em…..then need em and not have em I always say…..kinda like 4 wheel drive. I don’t use it much. But glads it there if and when I need it…
@@semiauto3148 the rain is about to change to snow here now! Probably won’t stick much though 🤙🏽 I use 4x4 a good bit at the farm, especially after all this rain through the year… some spots haven’t dried even during summer
@@freedomisntfree_44 yeah. It’s gotten cold af…..went form summer to winter in 1 day. Good ole Bama weather
Good review, wondered how the reliability and price compared to the Land Rover Defender?
Thanks for this snow video. Love the truck. A bit pricey for what you get in my opinion.
Expanding 4 wheel drive would be a nice video 4 low dry pavement to wet some say they use all the time as long as your not making lots of turns! 👍 great info!
Oh my gosh! you nailed it!! The more people understand their vechiel, the more they know about it, especially how trucks were to be use! Therefore, for those who purchase a truck in general, should know before to operate a truck,...which is a low % if your catering to that to make a presentation/electronic (where do I push the button for four wheel drive?'.....!
As for traction control, yes. turn off the sensors, it will help, but the main basic influence is how you drive it, especially in inclement conditions!
Great vid fellas I'll swap out for Mt Goodyear Wrangler tires that I've always ran on my trucks for winter driving
The no tow books and no bumper step is a head scratcher. I know the retractable air dam is why Toyota says no tow hooks, but come on. Figure it out! when you get stuck in the snow, have fun getting a strap around something underneath. Ps, watch out for the air dam, don't break it.
Tow truck drivers don’t use the disabled vehicle tow hooks. They are ornamental.
@@user-tb7rn1il3q how are you gonna get under the truck if you are in snow. Tow truck not gonna dig to hookup
@@johncoinas They do it all the time. Most vehicles don’t have them.
@@user-tb7rn1il3q what truck dosnt have tow hooks? Last i checked all besides toyota
Granted I've strapped through the wheel or around the axle but having no tow hooks for a recovery strap iis disappointing to me. There's always a way without hooks but it's so easy and fast just to connect a strap on a hook. If you have to go under a vehicle you loose about 8-10 feet of a strap, rope, chain. If you're not in civilization good luck giving directions with no mobile service.
When the hybrid is out I'd like to see the difference between how both operate in the snow .
Good question 🤔
The Hybrid IS out -- it was there in the middle of the street @ 14:08. ;-)
-- BR
I think it will be the exact same except more power.
@@billredding2000 Maybe he meant the plug-in hybrid?
@@rickper The hybrid can make a difference, especially on downhill in icy conditions. In the F-150, the regenerative breaking can kick the back end out a bit if in 2WD. I kick it into 4A and it balances out. If they Tundra Hybrid behaves the same way, it would be an issue for me as using 4WD or 2WD with regenerative braking would make for some sketchy corners going downhill when icy. Would be interesting to see.
Good vid, and also good job keeping that dog safe!
Can someone confirm if the Falken Wildpeaks on this TRD off road package is also 3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake rated? Video says M+S (all season) only, twice (at 4min 25 secs). I called Falken's tech line with the exact size and model, they said it's 3PMS rated. This is an important detail for a "snow review" video.
I have the wildpeak at3w s and i drive in the snow and like them. Ice is a different story though..
Does the heating system work good?
Be interested to see the falken wildpeak at3. on that truck it’s snow rated like the ko2 so far I’ve had great results.
Couldn’t help notice how low oil pressure was reading. And can you hold traction button down for 30 seconds a completely disable it like older version.
I’ve noticed that as well in previous videos. It is normal oil pressure. I’d never disable the traction control on a modern vehicle. You can destroy the powertrain by excessive spinning.
@@user-tb7rn1il3q very true, but I don’t remember anyone I knew blowing out a tranny before the advent of traction control.
“This is where we’re going with the witch, that lures little kids in… THIS IS GREAT!” 🤣🤣
Hey Tommy and Roman why didn't you stop or at least acknowledge the guy stranded on the road with his hood up ?
The sight line thru the windshield is great if you like looking at the headliner. I hate when the designers do this. My F150 has great sight lines thru the windshield.
You have AT- 3W but you can get the AT3W which doesn't have AT on the tire and is 3peak mountain. I just bought them.
The dog adds good content to the videos
Sweet puppy! He just wants a friend to play fetch all day 😂
So the wildpeak that comes on the truck is not the same as the wildpeak at3w? The ones I bought are 3 peak rated.
Awesome video
love the new tundra but in your video why is the oil pressure reading so low.
I just found out that new Tundra don't have front safe hook. Is that right?
Can you test some of the older vehicles you might have in the fleet in the snow?
Does the tundra come with always on 4wd Or a awd option?
Found the video very informative.
I'm always thinking what Roman is saying: "C'mon keep going! this is fun!"
You guys should give a full review on everything you guys think about the truck
You can't beat a good old father and son drive in the woods! Good on you!
