I am a avian veterinarian in Canada and LOVE seeing you with your bird Jackie. I've worked with neglected parrots at shelters often and work with birds who have been neglected and re-homed too many times causing neurological issues and self-harming behavioural patterns. When I see people who treat their bird as great as you do, with a wonderful overall understanding of his needs and requirements, it makes me remember why I do what I do! Thanks, and keep it up! (I love crafting in my free time along side my own parrot, a monk parakeet/Quaker parrot!)

For a first Vinyl Custom, this is great. I'm a toy designer and customizer and I have made a few videos detailing sofubi painting and I would love to see more artists sharing this art form!

When you use a air brush try painting more at a distance for a better result in blending the colors together. Use the air brush closer when there is no spots to blend but still stay at a distance to get no patches of darker spots
I learned this after toying around with airbrushing things
The little air compressor may not be high enough pressure, that could be one problem. Another would be comparing the paint you have with the thinner you used. Most acrylics only need distilled water added for a thinner. Some paints are thicker than others and thinning them is always an experiment with lots of tweaking. Highly recommend a tutorial on how to clean it and learn how to disassemble and reassemble it. Just recently got into airbrushing as well, there's so much to learn.

If you hold the airbrush like a pen or pencil and use your pointer finger on the trigger, it's much easier to control the flow of paint.. Hope this helps 💖

Holy carp, you put metallic paint in an airbrush. MAD LASS! :) Metallic flakes easily clog up stuff so that is probably why you had to thin it out that much before it started spraying.
Airbrushing is awesome so yes, you should revisit your older projects. Maybe draw something with that wood burner pen and color it in with the airbrush?
Ah! Look for metallic pearls instead of flake for airbrushing normally! For the standard home type airbrush 20micron particles are fine!
If you absolutely positively need some glitter then make a simple dry flake gun. Make a "coke bottle sandblaster" type thing, then fill it with dry flake/glitter. Apply a nice thick coat of clear to the surface, then "dust" it with the flake while it's still wet. Another coat of clear will protect the flake and keep it in place.

you should try something called epoxy sculpt a lot of the channels who customize dolls use it! it doesn't need to go in the oven so you don't risk ruining your vinyl if you make any more of these

You being honest that you have no clue what you are doing makes me more confident in just picking up random things at the craft store and trying my hand at something. I often feel like I need to already know everything when I start out, probably because most of the things I do involve other living creatures, to the point that I get stressed and think that I am not good enough because I am not making Advanced things when I first start out. It’s good to know that with crafts I can just start out with no clue what I am doing and go from there instead of get stressed
Hey! Next time you do some sort of customization on something that you can't/ aren't sure if you can stick it in the oven, try out apoxie sculpt if you haven't yet! It's somewhat expensive, but it's a two part clay that air-dries, and once it dries you need to run it over with a literal tank to break it. It's what most people use to customize toys with because you can get it to blend fairly well and it can hold tiny details!
