- Today we will test out Ikea arts crafts supplies, and try to turn a basic sculpture into something a bit more thematic. How do these paints and supplies do? Let's just say that I had way bigger ambitions than these supplies led me to have. I initially wanted to make amazingly colorful pieces, but the finger paints lift off when you try to put a second coat, so layers were impossible. The Watery acrylic paints were frustrating to work with.

Actually, Jackie, I purchased the same set of MALA paints for my daughter (not the shimmery pack) and I was told by an IKEA associate they were acrylic since they’re water based and nowhere in the description says they’re finger paint. It does say that they do stain and should not be used as body paint. So, we’re artists and she has created beautiful pieces with those paints. They’re also very durable since she had them for months and they didn’t dry up or got ruined by becoming watery as compared to other brands of acrylic paints I have purchased for her. I’ll tag you on the paintings she used them on over on IG, you can check them out if you have time. By the way, I’m an artist, I paint, why does everything art related is advertised to kids only? Oh the salt!

I love putting ikea stuff together!!! I have a dresser, a desk, a nightstand, and a bookshelf. My room looks super expensive and nice when in reality I only spent like $200. It’s so satisfying to finish them up and be like I made that.

Maybe we are raised for it? It's hard enough to be satisfying, but not hard enough to break your back.
Also I was raised that building IKEA allows you to have two fancy drinks (Like trocadero in a glass bottle as a kid, or beer now), one while building and one while admiring your work.
A few of my friends absolutely loathe IKEA, and I'm just here going: "Eh. It's cheap. It gets the job done. And honestly, I find browsing the store relaxing, and if you get tired, just borrow one of the beds from the bedroom section and take a nap, lol. Also, tbh. All furniture are a bit of a headache to put together if you're not reading the stuff properly." (And we're also Swedes.)

TIL: floral swirly patterns are called filigree. I'm a designer and I'm ashamed of only learning that term today.
Actually they are not. Filigree work is the art of making entire sculptures or decoratives by swirling, twisting and turning metal wires. These kinda(?) look like that and I guess that's why she called them filigree.

@@ArianneCriseyde Yw! Filigree art is a sort of tribal craftform practised by multiple cultures all over the globe and the pieces are really very quaint and exquisite. You can make a few yourself as well, it gets very addictive if patience is your thing and the final product is so worth it!

I love it to. Maybe it's because we used to build ikea furniture together with my mother when we were kids. I don't think it's that difficult to build ikea furniture, the instructions are clear and they make sure that you can easily the different type of screws and nails.

I mean i love you jackie and i'm not a troll also my french isn't on fleek but nowhere does it say these are acrylic paints neither they are finger paints.
At least it looks like it wants to imitate acrylic paint or maybe is just acrylic paint on a water base but I don't see evidence for the finger paints to be finger paints. Looking at the product description in your video the finger paints are referred as paints and the acrylic ones as fluorescent/metallic only.
My guess is the "finger" paints are the base set and the fluorescent one a additional one.
I really like your videos and this one is pretty fun and entertaining too but forgive me padre for what i am about to say:

Very creative! Love them!! Also, yes, I must put the furniture together!! I bought a side table from a shop once and was upset because it came fully assembled. I told the guy I wouldn't have bought it if I knew that! Sad day. And most of the time I do alter the furniture.
I'm pretty much a professional at building ikea furniture at this point! I've built about 10 different types of furniture from them and am great at interpreting the instructions. I've even joked around with my boyfriend about starting up a service where I build people's ikea furniture lol

Just a little suggestion, but I think it would be really fun to watch you and Sika doing some sort of clay sculpting competition- perhaps with a theme your sculptures must go with? I'm not completely sure, but I just think it would be awesome to see what y'all could create under the pressure of a friendly family competition! :')

I love putting together IKEA and other crate furniture. I find it calming believe it or not....I just get into it and co concentrate on them and not other things that are going through my head.

I love putting furniture together & we did finger painting in kindergarten in 80’s Australia. I like the gold one best & I’ve remade/painted a bird on a stick toy. The bird would slowly shimmy down the pole when you put it at the top & flicked it. My cat at the time (R.I.P. Ferdie) was obsessed with it

Well I enjoyed taking a hammer to the first and only piece I ever tried to assemble 🙃
I love building things, including most of my home. When I was in grade school, we did finger paints. It's almost a pudding consistency when it's right. At one point, they had us all walk barefoot with finger paints to leave a trail down the hallway to show where the fire exits were, which was kind of fun. Like walking barefoot in mud. Random, but we also did a lifesize 9 foot tall lollipop dragon, using plywood, chicken wire, and paper mache. I guess it's still at the Kindergarten today, 40 years later.
Here in Brazil as kids we do a lot of finger painting with gouache. It’s funny that many RUclipsrs have never worked with it. You should try to do some gouache stuff
