- In today's craft video, we will do Animal Crossing New Horizon's Tom Nook into a Monster. This game on the Nintendo Switch is very relaxing and enjoyable to play, but I enjoy sculpting monsters lol. When you're done baking, turn off the oven, but leave the clay in the oven. Wait for your oven to be room temperature before removing the clay. This way, your object will cool super slow, which can prevent breaks from temperature shock.

also, bells arent worth as much as a dollar. people see a big number and assume its worth a lot. but you can sell your not-native fruit for like 500 bells and native fruit for 100. you can sell an orange, 2 cherries (as a pair, its 1 item), an apple, a pear or a peach for that amount. and irl a fruit costs less than a dollar. so worst case scanario, a dollar is worth 100 bells. and if you divide nook's prices by that amount, suddenly you realize that you get houses for a good price. and he builds/expands them overnight. you spend 7 595 800 bells for all upgrades in acnh, so thats 75 958 bucks which is not that much for a house with a few rooms and a basement. but some fruit are worth 0,5 of a dollar and they might cost 500 bells. that makes his prices even cheaper. hes just trying to run a business. and especially in nh, he has to transport the material and equipment all the way to the deserted island. i think hes a really nice person

The mere fact you can put the game down for like a month or so and come back and not have the price you need to pay go up or have an eviction notice on your door once you open the game. You can slowly pay over time and the price never changes

Hey Jackie! Here's my advice about wire frames and attaching wings, also a suggestion.
First, you always forget the first joint in the wing. You should look at bat wings for reference. You can also think about the wings as an arm with really long fingers.
Now the wire frame. I like to use one continuous wire for the whole body, head to tail. I make a rough oval shape for the head to give the foil something to hold onto. Then I use one whole wire for the front legs/arms, and one whole wire for the back legs. Twist it once around the wire body, and then use tin foil to bulk it up and keep it in place. If you plan on doing wings then you should poke a hole for the wings to go in, but build them separately, that way they don't distort or break in the oven. Use a wire in the wing, and leave a tail for the wire to attach to the body. To attach the wing, you can use any epoxy. Another option to attach the wing to the body is to use a dowel as it's a little more secure while it's drying. In that case you fit the dowel into the base of the wing, and use it to poke a hole in the body. Make sure the hole is big enough to account for shrinkage, I usually just wiggle the dowel around a bit. Then once it's baked just attach the wing to body with the dowel and use any strong glue or epoxy to hold it in place.
I hope all that helps! I love seeing your crafting videos. I know your kit reviews get better numbers or whatever, but I'm glad you still do these ones too.
I also suggest Sculpey Firm or Super Sculpey rather than Sculpey III. Sculpey III is notoriously brittle and easy to break.
Why Tom Nook is a pure and wholesome being:

>He picked up Timmy and Tommy off the streets, gave them a home, and stable income
>His prices are shockingly low
>He does not force you to pay your loans
>No interest at all
>Gives you the upgrade before the payment

Nook is actually really lovely, he gives you a loan (interest free) and he helps you set up life when you have nothing. He started up from nothing and worked hard to get where he is. Also he donates i think 90% of his money to orphanages (mentioned as canon in happy home designer). He can seem like a bad guy untill you look into it. He only loves money because there was a time he lost it all.

Guys Tom Nook isn’t greedy, you get to see more of his backstory in one of the older games and he charges lots of money because he gives it away to an orphanage! His backstory is literally he moved to the big city and lost all his money so now he helps other people out by getting people houses and land- he not bad, IK people joke but he’s not a villain 🥺
I think a Blathers would make a great monster sculpture. He's so sweet and cute so seeing him as a monster would be really cool

As a kid watching people play this game (I didnt have a Nintendo console until I could buy one myself ;u;) I thought Tom Nook was the villain. How dare he take advantage of you like that?
After a few years of being in the choke hold known as American student loan debt, and finally getting to play my first legit Animal Crossing game, Nook seems like an absolute saint in comparison. He doesn’t give a crap how long it takes for you to pay. He doesn’t compound interest, and while he nudged you towards upgrading, he doesn’t harass you into it (like, yknow, everyone and their mother convinces you that taking on 50k in debt mere months after not even having the jurisdiction to go to the restroom without requesting permission is a good idea).
Nook is the best loan broker I’ve ever dealt with.
He also dealed with a deep depression, was very good friends with Sable, got scammed by Redd, donates almost all the money he makes to charity and there is a wing in an orphanage naked after him 😢

And let's not forget that he adopted both Timmy and Tommy into the fold! Tom Nook has a lot of hidden things that I'm sure a lot of people don't get to see or have seen. Sure, when were were little grains someone like Nook would have been seen as a Villain, especially with how he was in the first AC game where he was a bit more forward at times with things. Of course now that I'm an adult (and I'm sure many others here are) when you get to have someone like Nook who gives no carps about how long you take to pay him back, etc. he is glorious and so very welcome!

A neat cheat for teeth: making and baking them separately and then just jamming them into the clay after dipping the end in some liquid sculpey. Such a time saver!

My favourite video game is Persona 5 and Ryuji is best boy. I personally love animals crosing but haven't been able to afford it as I have been working to help my family during this time of need. I hope to get the game as usually never win anything, but it's fine if I don't win. My favorite animal crossing character is Isabelle as she is so cute and sweet. Sculpting tips to keep your piece from breaking: do all the armature all at once and wrap the wires around each other so they are connected. Also try and limit bakes, if a thinner piece is baked too long it becomes brittle and more likely to break. I had that problem creating teeth for a sculpture of Audrey II (the plant from little shop of horrors) and I ended up baking the teeth separately and for a much shorter amount of time, and then glueing them in carefully with tweezers.
Out of curiosity, what kind of clay do you use? Because that makes a really big difference.

Do Redd. He's more of a swindler than Tom. He does forgery art work and sells them at an insane price. There is the potential of it being real, but it's very low.
Ive only bought something from redd once. i made sure it was something i liked, so even if it was fake (it was) I could just put it in my house. I think it was the Japanese wave one.
And items you can find at Tom's store at insane prices in past games.
But atleast Redd sold NES games.
Actually redd sells one real painting or statue (atleast in new leaf). You just kinda gotta look at details

I'm sorry, as someone who played Animal Crossing for the Gamecube first, I just remember him basically making me his slave until I paid him off and then turned around and made me go into even more debt every time I wanted to do anything like expand my house. That Tom Nook made me scared to adult.

That being said, I do actually make sculptures professionally from time to time for clients. What always helps is the following.
1. Preheat your oven before putting any clay. And cook it at a tad lower temperature to let it sit longer. Instead of 275°, cook it at 270°. That way the clay cures throughly and doesn’t crack as fast.
2. Armatures react to heat depending on your ratio from armature material to actual clay. When using aluminum for wings and whatnot, make sure that you aren’t caking clay onto the aluminum just freely, roll it to the 2nd to last thinnest setting your pasta machine. It’ll adhere better to the aluminum. Also, the sculpty bake and bond isn’t so necessary when it comes to wings as the texture from the foil will allow the clay to adhere on its own. Just need to press down on it firmly before attaching to the rest of the sculpture. I suggest using a heavy textbook and two pieces of parchment paper to flatten it and when you take it out of there, THEN you can form and sculpt the details in. Bake and bond will expand a little and cause cracks if not carefully applied. So that’s why the aforementioned technique is what I use when making winged sculptures.
3. When actually making an armature, you want to ensure that the whole sculpture piece isn’t pure clay. Even though it provides weight and stability, it’ll also be prone to many cracks as the whole clay needs to cure and if it’s a thick piece, that will be costly in the long run. Instead, draw the armature out and THEN warp the armature in tape, aluminum and whatever you need in order to bulk it up. It also helps save tons of clay and minimize the amount you use. And it allows for baking to go a lot more smoother. I’ve personally had to learn that myself over the years.

I’d heard about it vaguely, but never payed much attention, let alone played it before last week... (my friend was having an animal crossing party so she kinda begged me to get it since were all locked down) If you like farming, collecting, fashion, or chill games, it’s actually a really good game.

I wish I could play Animal Crossing but I can't afford stuff. I'm happy seeing things like this though instead! The "Sleeping" figure in the water with the bells just makes it. I love it!
For the wings, you could try making them separate from the sculpture and put the wing holes into the sculpture figure's back. Make sure it' s a pretty deep hole (that's what she s---) and that the wings have something strong on the end of them where you put them into the hole, like wooden dowels or several strands of wire wrapped in foil. Line them up how you like them and Superglue that sucker in there (use baking soda to make it form an instant and very strong bond), and then you can use the apoxie sculpt to fill in the cracks.
