    Can we all just take a step back, take a breath, and pause to acknowledge the 86/BRZ (both gens) are the successors to the AE86, which was never powerful, never turbocharged, and that was exactly the point of the car? It helps fill a niche that only the Miata has satisfied for the past several decades. Variety is good! Let's collectively as a community stop trying to reinforce that the manufacturers need to make these cars something that they're not.

    • @MouseCIick
      @MouseCIick 8 месяцев назад +1

      They have the motors. They have 2 turbo charged motors to choose from. Also cars are getting heavier and the speed is staying relatively the same. The same car feel you get from older cars is disappearing. Miata is sold at a complete loss despite being the purest car. I think it’s crazy m2, dodge, and mustang have like 10 different motors to choose from.
      Money talks and we just want an oem 4 cylinder turbo on a coupe.

    • @postalpancho
      @postalpancho 7 месяцев назад +10

      @@MouseCIickthere are a lot of 4cyl turbo cars on sale already. The issue is that if something is a 4cyl then people always want more. More cylinders, more power, more speed. The 86 is as light as it is because it forgoes increasing power. More power means more weight because you need a stiffer/heavier chassis, bigger brakes, bigger engine, extra cooling, more tire, more robust suspension components. The 86 is fine where it is at. If you want more power then you’re looking at the wrong car.

    The saying, "If you drive it like a race car, it's gonna break like a race car," holds true for most cars... especially entry-level sports cars like the GR86/BRZ. It's always been a pay-to-play sport.

    In my area these cars are 28 to 33k brand new, I dont think that is too expensive for this car. Im figuring you payed 10k over and are now judging the car by that, but that was your price not the price. This car is very affordable for what it delivers, i do agree with the eventual obsolescence of a small displacement NA engine, but adding a turbo makes this a 45-50k car most likely. The engine can handle 400hp on stock internals easy if you decide to turbo it yourself and there are a plethora of kits availible already.

    • @jaron95

    I'm probably going to get the BRZ, I really wanted the GR86 badly but the engine stuff is real. I thought it was getting blown out of proportion but someone I know personally had their GR86 and ONLY drove this car as a daily and boarderline babied it and his engine still blew at 15k miles because of the oil issue. that was 2 months ago and Toyota has yet to approve his warranty claim (nightmare). At least if I'm going to risk it I hear Sabaru is at least honoring the claims (although I don't know anyone personally on that front).
