    Hey Andrew! Loved being on to talk with you and enjoying the feedback in the comments. I want to address a few things in hope that people take this information to heart and have greater success as music artists than they do currently -
    1. I’m a music artist but I don’t use any socials currently except Instagram.
    It’s sort of the analogy of someone who cooks for a living buys Macdonald’s on the way home. At the end of the day, I don’t currently have the time or energy to do my socials the way they need to be done. So I don’t. I’m hoping to change this within the next few months.
    2. You’re a music artist with or without this. This information is for all levels of artist that’s looking into the additional income stream of influencer marketing. That’s my background and as I currently work with large corporations, I can tell you that they’re giving a LOT of money to anyone online they deem as a community leader in their target audience (regardless of follower count). If you’re making bank on Spotify, why not make even more bank with influencer marketing?
    3. Whether you like it or not, influencer marketing is the most viable way to say independent (if that’s desired), because why go to labels for money and connections if you’re already doing it with social media?
    I’m not currently trying to build a brand as a music artist (yet) or a marketing influencer. I’m just a musician, who has insider knowledge because of my profession in digital advertising, that wants to give back to the community.

      Spotify should pay more per stream I don’t know how much but royalty’s for radio. We’re so much higher it should be somewhere in between.

      Let's say you're an artist with 50,000 monthly listeners - you likely aren't making a living off of streaming. But if you got into sponsorships, Patreon memberships, merch, touring etc you might be able to make a living off of your current audience size.
      You can definitely make a living off of Spotify alone (I know many who do), but there are so many other options out there to monetize your music. It's all about finding the ones that make the most sense for you and doing those.
      Some people hate the idea of these sponsorships, and honestly I don't think i'd do them myself. But others will see this as being perfect for them and would much rather do that than tour or sell Patreon subscriptions.

    At $3000-$4000 per 1million streams....Streaming can definitely generate more money than small brand deals if you can build a strong streaming catalog. Yes trying to do it with one song is not as pratical.

    In my experience I've had videos with 200 views with a lot of engagement and videos with 1,000 views with literally few to none engagement. This gets me confused, because almost none of my high engagement videos have gone over 300 views. I understand that having higher engagement means that youre reaching the right audience. So I dont really get what this AI wants.

    I don't think a skate brand is a good reference. No skate brand is really advertising outside of skaters other than nike. Not much money in Skating. Can you give other examples? Maybe products for a lofi artist? Was thinking coffee or something.

    The the worst and most toxic advice an artist can get "Stop focusing on your music, start being an influencer and pump your social accounts for brand deals".

    • @dizzyparkermusic
      @dizzyparkermusic 5 месяцев назад +4

      I don’t agree that that’s the message. You’re allowed to just make music but if you want success on social media you have to play their game.
      And if you want to make money from music, you have to do the things that make the money. Music doesn’t typically do that in the digital age.

    • @AndrewSouthworth
      @AndrewSouthworth  5 месяцев назад +2

      It’s not to stop focusing on music, it’s that there is also an opportunity for you to make money using this method. Just like selling merch, patreon subscriptions, etc. if you’re in the music business you’re in the business of making money from your music.
      If you just want to treat music as a hobby, you can. But you can also be a serious music artist without doing stuff like this if it doesn’t fit your brand. There are artists that only rely on streaming, but it’s hard and it’s risky to only have one income source.

    revenue from spotify doesnt matter? according to goldman sachs revenue from spotify DOES matter ill pass on taking advice from someone with 15 monthly listeners

    • @AndrewSouthworth
      @AndrewSouthworth  5 месяцев назад

      It's not that it doesn't matter, of course many artists make a living off of Spotify or streaming alone (I know a bunch). But more that there is a big opportunity for other revenue sources even for artists that aren't big enough to make good money from streaming.
      In this video we talk about the sponsorship stuff. But other artists will make good money from shows, sync, Patreon, merch etc (often multiple income sources).
      This is true for RUclips creators as well - the adsense revenue is typically tiny compared to other revenue sources like sponsorships, memberships, products, services etc.
      As far as I know he's not really an active artist, he works in the music industry and on social media marketing professionally. I can't share his client list but I can say that they include mainstream brands you've heard of.
