Thanks for tuning in bruv! And yeah, that happens naturally... we are all growing and learning and that should be reflected in the art if it's authentic. The fans appreciate seeing the journey too. Cheers bro 🍻
Love everything you guys do but if possible can you make sure Sean is as loud as everyone else. I can never hear him when I have my Bluetooth headphones on (which is usually how I listen to podcasts) even with my volume all the way up. When I listen on speakers everyone else is loud as hell and he’s normal. It’s really difficult to keep listening because of this
4 years ago I paid Nate 100$ for 1 hour of his time and it was worth it. He’s a great guy! Was stubborn for 4 years dropping on this account with 70+ songs under QUINCY, but rebrand coming! Nate “Goat” Rose!
Definitely appreciate the grind and development in your artist and personal growth Nate. I've been on this grind for a long time worked at Def Jam records for a quick minute. Have music on radio and TV. Original song remixed into #1 hit . It's the progression it's the little things they keep you going. Like when they got that $1,000 that kept his focus. Opportunity does come at the right time and it doesn't happen overnight. Get in the game and play that's the only way to learn. I used to do everything myself recording engineering songwriting producing artwork and videography. When you collab with other people it brings another level of creativity that you wouldn't get on your own. Stay hungry for knowledge and don't underestimate being disciplined. The Lord fulfills the desire of the heart.
The ‘week in advance’ pitch window to hit the release radar is actually a myth, I’ve been posting almost weekly all year on Spotify every Friday (midnight Thursday) and I’ve been running late to pitch several times, this week I pitched it 3 hours after it was released in my Timezone and it still made the release radar the same day … I’ts hard to keep up with weekly but it is a great way to learn the platforms nuances better 💯
It's not a myth. The week in advance guarantees that it hits all of your followers on the Friday release. That doesn't mean that if you don't pitch in advance that it won't hit *any of your followers release radar playlist.
I really take it personal when musicians pay for a feature, and the artist doesn’t follow through with what they promised. Something should be done about that and I don’t care how long ago it was. King Los smh family
My question is do you all have a video of whennnn an artist should start building their team ? What type of people would you need on your team? (Ex: managers, promoters, etc) Ex: You’re doing everything on your own and there’s no one around you who’s knows/are interested in the music business etc you’re making music, built your “label”/LLC as an independent artist and you’re really ready to push yourself out there
I did everything myself (cover artwork, producing, recording, mixing/mastering, design, marketing, managing, etc.) for a decade. This doesn't have to be the case for everyone. However, I'd make the case that it is important to have a good grasp on all the skillsets because that will help you choose the right team members and give them effective direction. Then once you start making a little bit of money, you can start outsourcing based on what will allow you to reclaim the most time. For me, the first thing I outsourced was the mixing/mastering. And the second thing was single covers. At the time, I was paying $250 for mix/master and $50 for single covers... I was able to afford $300 per song because I knew that within the year I would recoup off streams of that song and then it was pure profit. But the outsourcing increased my output and allowed me to reclaim time and put it towards other things that move the needle as well.
That was pretty interesting thank you. I’d be curious what @naterose actual revenue sources are. A few thousand views here and there on RUclips obviously isn’t paying the bills. I haven’t researched his Spotify numbers. But if he is making all this money purely from Spotify I would be very curious as to how he grew that many listeners (which would have to a Fucking hell of a lot to pay for a normal life) . If so, Really just by Facebook and instagram ads? 🤯 Or is the majority of your revenue coming from online merch sales. T shirts or whatever?
Were living in an age where being nerdy and working the computer beats talent. Your music can be trash if you can manipulate the system you will be successful. Too bad success doesn't equal talent
It's not one or the other... if your product (music) is trash, you're not going to garner very many listeners despite your marketing efforts. If you make amazing music but don't know how to get other people to hear it, it's also not going to go very far. You need both to have the easiest pathway to a full-time career.
1) What’s wrong being nerdy? 2) “Working the computer” can very much lead you to having some talent. 3) Ever combined Zoom & Audiomovers to bring the experience of Moment House into movie theaters for a sold out audience? On average, tech savvy artists are more successful than those who complain & dwell on the past 🤦♂️
Lets not geek peoples heads up and think they can live off streams not to be a Debbie downer I try not too focus on the few who made it work for them big ups too his success there's more too come
On the contrary, I think too many people have a bleak view of streaming as a source of income… it was the place I first started making real money, and the transparency from Spotify on how to grow and maneuver provides a predictable framework for growth.
A couple things to add to your comment: 1.) Monthly listeners are not the same as streams... monthly listeners refer to unique people that have streamed at least 1 song in the past 28 days. If you are in a bunch of playlists you can run up "monthly listeners" but still not have people really listening to your music outside of the singular playlist playthrough. 2.) As far as revenue goes, it depends on how much you own of the backend and what your business splits are like. I produce + write a lot of my own music, so I own the majority of my catalogue. How many of your listeners are from songs which you have master splits on? Do you have team members that take commission of gross revenue? Does your distributor take percentage? All these things play into the total revenue from streams.
I'm as honest as it gets in relation to the streaming conversation... don't let ignorance + dogmatism stop you from building a career off of one of the most predictable, workable platforms to focus on.
@@NateRoseMusic yeah your a streaming artist I can imagine how much money you left on the table. It just sucks for you because they told you Spotify and streaming was the way and it's going to be hard for you to get in these people pockets because they already trained you to grab attention and not money and the only thing that will make these people give you their money when that time comes is offering music of substance and that will be hard for you especially after displaying yourself as a "Man child" good luck tho

Yeah when I was 20... spent my only bread I had for the album on a feature. Was ghosted for months and eventually just released the project without it. Got it 8 months later as an .mp3 baked into a verse on a beat that wasn't complete and got ghosted again when I asked for an acapella.
