It's cool to see you making the transition to Wayland/Hyprland just that bit easier, especially for either newcomers or people with not that much time to allocate.
Nice work :)
Lord Vaxerskie in the house.......
Thank you and thank you for all the work on Hyprland :)
I can testify to that fact.
I love the ability to change in versions! Awesome work Sol!!!
Glad you like it :) thank you for the comment an thank you for watching!
Very nice tweaks! I especially like the new sound and brightness pop-ups :)
Your hyprland videos really helped me setting up my own hyprland config! Really appreciated. I am eagerly waiting for your next videos :)
That is fantastic to hear! Very glad to be of help. Thank you for watching :)
Real nice, clean and super easy script you've configured man; and very minimal. just installed it today on a fresh install with a RX 6800 after running my own Hyprland on SWAY rice before with a 3080 for the past 2 weeks or so (terrible) excited to pour hours into configuring this setup. Legendary work
I've been waiting for this!
Thank you sol ❤
You're welcome! enjoy :)
So cool that you have different versions for different preferences :D
Great work on the scrip. Great work again Sol. Keep up the great work buddy. Enjoy watching your vidieos.
Hello and thank you for the kind words and thank you for watching ! :)
Very nice Sol. I love the ability to flip between versions! Each had things I liked cosmetically. Well done sir
Maybe add gvfs-backends and smbclient in v4. Just a thought. It's an easy fix for Thunar, but I can't seem to brownse smb shares initially with Thunar.
Also the other thing I am working, is control of the audio for the waybar button for USB Audio Line Out. Can't seem to get it to control the volume. I have to manually drag the volume bar from Pulse Audio. Again, just a small thing I'm trying to work out.
Holy shit bro ! That's well explained and easy to install. I can't believe Arch is so easy to use. Thanks.
Thank you for making a video on hyprland with nvidia support!!! Really helped it!!!🤩
Thank you for the comment and thank you for watching :)
Man you're legend. Keep doing what you're doing. Thank you very much!
Thank you for the comment, much appreciated :) and thank you for watching!
Thanks for the work. I would love to see some more features such as snapping window or resizing windows relatively when splitting in the future 🎉
Hello and thank you for the comment. You may want to check out the hyprland wiki for additional functionality available in hyprland hyprland.org also maybe join the discord as this project is still in very early stages and feedback is welcomed :)
Thanks for your video sol❤ it does
help since i struggled choosing a wm(blame nvidia). Eventually i use your v2 configuration and it works well
Thanks dude, just did the whole things and it seems to be working nicely, you are awesome, thank you 🙏🏼
This is beyond awesome man, Arch is daunting and this video really made it much more understandable.
I still suck lol.
Really great job! Just switched back to linux from Windows so I was delighted to have an already riced Hypr wm.
Thank you for the feedback, glad you liked it :) enjoy!
Thanks for adding the media keys function, now I can use my keyboard's volume knob to adjust the volume :)
You're welcome :)
This is f*cking cool. I'm ready for V4. Keep it up.
The v3 icon concept is amazing
Awesome…. Just awesome!! Many thanks for this Sol
You are very welcome! thank you for the comment :)
Mad work ! amazing Sol :)
Hello, thank you for the kind words, much appreciated! :)
Hi sol, it seems like I have the exact laptop you used in the video.
I had a bit of issues with the second script, this v3 of the script seems to work smooth af,
A bit of feedback:
All worked flawlessly untill needing to install g15 drivers, solved it by downloading these manually.
Nothing much to say, except that you're an absolute legend!!
So... this may sound weird but... this ARCH install video is the best for a very long time.
Thanks for this!
Hello and thank you for the kind words, glad you like the video and thank you for watching! :)
Nice news, is very nice to see news TWMs.
I like of options to edit config style with CSS.
Hi Sol, I installed V3 yesterday with no issues. You did a fantastic job! It's awesome that the user can switch so easily between the 3 versions. I like them all! This morning I installed an upgrade to the ttf-jetbrains-mono-nerd font. I noticed this evening that the microphone icon on the Waybar had changed to a box w/numbers. I downgraded the nerd font back to v2.3.3-3 from v3.0.0-1 and the normal looking microphone icon was back. That was the only icon affected by the upgrade that I noticed on my end. I am not sure if anyone else had this experience after the upgrade or not, but thought I should let you know.
Thanks so much for your shared work! It's hard for me to believe Hyprland is so good considering it's still in beta. It's my favorite WM replacing Bspwm.
Can say that again... not much projects on it I see😉🤔
Can say that again not much projects on it I see🤔
Dude you're awesome, imma try this tmrw
Amazing work, thank you!
This worked great for me - thanks so much!
Excellent work! thank you!
I have the same laptop as yours, YOUR SCRIPT IS AMAZING!!!!
Thank you a lot!
you are very welcome! :)
mine is in the mail right now, i should receiive it soon. and I am 100% gonna follow your setup guide.
mine is a G533qs with an AMD cpu+ipgu + nvidia 3080 gpu .
This is beautiful. I can't wait to try it! :)
hats off to your efforts
🔥🔥 great work
Been working on this for a week, finally sucess with your V3 nvidia 3090 i9-12900K
Happy to report back with feedback:
Up and running smoothly now with V3 on my Nvidia RTX 3080 at 4K Resolution, 60 FPS, Gsync On and HDR enabled. Looking super fancy on my LG 55" OLED TV.
To be more clear: On V2, my setup was having the black screen issue.
Amazing work, everything runs perfectly - it even automatically found my USB Soundcard from Native Instruments. The only minor thing that was ignored during set-hypr was the keyboard-layout which was not read from the installation settings. So I had to adjust the config to use keyboard = de for German language. But thats really a quick fix :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH SOL! You Rock! 🙌👍🔥
That is fantastic news! so glad to hear that it worked for you, enjoy! :)
Bro started flexing 💀
@@WinningEmpire 💀
Great job man 👍
Thank you , I appreciate the comment and thank you for watching :)
Thank you so much for this! I am coming from Linux mint, and wanted a more customized "aesthetic" experience while trying to learn arch Linux. There were a few questions I had though. When I boot into the system, will v3 will be the first version that boots? I like the layout setups you had for v2 and v1. Is it possible to boot into v2 or v1 instead of v3? Also, will I be able to add a dock to view my applications as well?
I just wanna say, thank you
You are very welcome :)
Absolutely love it running a gtx 1060 also script worked perfectly
Hello, thank you for the comment. that is fantastic to hear! enjoy :)
@@SolDoesTech also not sure if it's your config files or if hyperland/wayland picks it up but my actual volume roller works! i was on qtile before and could not for the life of me figure out how to get the roller to work
Just watching it, was thinking I really liked v2s look and feel not sure about this, Sol - "if you click this it will change to each config", me *Jaw hits the desk*
:) glad you liked it!
Hi how are things. I just installed Hyprland through this video. And I am extremely happy. It really is a beautiful WM. I come from i3 on Debian and I love it, but this is really beautiful. I will use it for a few days to see if the programs I use can be used in Hyprland without any problem. Thank you very much for the tutorial and I hope you continue like this with these great things. Greetings
Hello and thank you for the comment. I am glad to hear you are enjoying Hyprland and that the install script was successful on your system. If you can, please head on over to hyprland.org and checkout the discord server. Show the developers some love and engage with the community. Hyprland is under constant development and your feedback is valuable and could actually make a difference :) Thank you for watching!
@@SolDoesTech Thanks again. I will follow your recommendation and see the Hyprland page. I tell you that I had to battle with bluetooth, I didn't have blueman-manager and I didn't know how to activate it. Install it and problem solved. Now I'm going to look at the settings and see what I can do. I wrote to you in this post, but actually the one that I installed is the one called "Arch install and hyprland setup". Greetings and thanks again.
Yes finally, thank you so much.
Edit: Nvidia driver thing didn't work for me (I have a Nvidia GeForce GT 730 with Nvidia proprietary driver 470) so I installed Nouveau drivers and it works fine now.
Hello and thank you for the feedback, I appreciate you sharing your fix. Glad to hear you got it working :)
470 is too old for Wayland.
@@JanuszKrysztofiak yes that's why I am using Nouveau drivers
I made a similar script for nvidia hyprland on arch minim al install ... It has dark/light wallpaper and theme change as well... It's cool to find others creating something similar!
Hello and thank you for the comment, very cool indeed :) thanks for watching!
@@affieuk yes it is, search for - prasanthrangan/hyprdots
I'm using hyprdots with my RTX 3060it, and it works great, thank you
Love these! Thank you~
I have a first gen Zephyrus GX501 with the touchpad/numpad. Above there is both a key to toggle to numpad and an ROG key to open the ROG center. I would love to be able to use these features but haven't been able to figure it out
use wev (wayland) or xev to get the key's name then you can add to your keybinds
@@Ja.KooLit It should work for the ROG key but idk about the numpad/touchpad toggle
First of all: Thank you very much! Your V2 version was all i wanted my hyprland to be but never managed to make it like. I was at first somewhat dissapointet by the Windows like look of V3 but you put in an Option to switch between all three versions, which was a nice surprise for me. So thank you again.
I only noticed in the last few days that the Icons of Battery, Wifi (I think...) and Microphone "disappeared". there are only those squares with four hex digits. I couldn't figure out if an update messed it up since I haven't change any of the Icons, only the Temperature scale from F to C.
I'm curious to see what the next versions will be and I hope you leave the Options to easily change the Desktop Layout in there if its not too much work.
Great Work!
Hello and thank you for the comment. Dont worry, you didnt do anything to your config :) The font package where these icons come from got updated and these icons were removed for newer ones. I have since updated the repo with new config files that have the new supported icons and V4 would have all layouts with the new icons as well :) V4 is staring to move toward a more modular design. I hope to address some of the most popular requests I get in the upcoming version so stay tuned :)
@@SolDoesTech well now I'm hyped for V4. I thought so that it was some kind of update. Of course I didn't thought of updating the configs with your repo :D I'm gonna try it out as soon as I can. Have to say, arch linux may not be ideal for a beginner but I already learnt more than with Ubuntu on my thinkpad. Just love a good challenge and learning by trying instead of just reading.
Thanks for the answer by the way!
@@Bullwerker That's fantastic to hear! The goal of my project was to provide you with a basic config to get you going so you can then take it to the next level so I encourage you to experiment and learn. A viewer of mine just posted this awesome video of his customization of the config, here is a link for inspiration :) ruclips.net/video/_NSyKVRDYJY/видео.html
I changed the configs today and everything is showing up correctly again. I had to make some changes once again but took the opportunity to experiment with the customization.
I also watched the video of one of your viewers and I have to say it's really impressive! I think this peaceful design goes well with hyprland.
I certainly have now a few ideas what I like to try. Thanks!
Hey there, thanks i just tried it out today on my Asus Gigabyte sabre 15 laptop. It had hybrid GPU, Intel and nvdia one, the installation process i could say quite smooth, there are some minor problem, when I'm about to start installing hyprland, the script is error it said it had a Conflict file for the hyprland. I just had to remove the file from use/cache if I'm not mistaken. Other than that, the script works fine! Thanks for your work m8
Thank you very much😊
The different versions now are pretty much themes. You should add a hot key for that. Like super + T. Love the new features!
Hello and thank you for the comment, yeah thats a great idea I'll make note of that, thank you! I appreciate the feedback :)
Love this
Thank you :)
thanks Sol!
Bruh, wow! The version switch is just 🛐
looking forward to V4!
For the next version you may take over the language/time settings from the script., so that European and other users can enjoy their local settings. Or is there a way to change localization somewhere else. For the rest I like/prefer the v3 layout. Great work and thank you.
Hello, thank you for the feedback! That is something I am looking into as its a popular request :) I hope to have it ready for the next version of the script. Thank you again and thanks for watching!
Some familiar scripts I see :) Need to tweak that brightness script though to show a proper mako icons. Seems your system has 1-100 range so you can change the values on lines 15-23 with 20 increments. 3 laptops I have tested and always got different values. Love the script. Are you a programmer?
I wonder hyprland performance on a nvidia-desktop though. Always wondering but even use gpu here in KR is so dang expensive.
Hello! thank you for the note about the brightness script, I did notice on the 2 systems I tested on that it can vary also yes, I did grab that from your repo. its funny I have seen my script on a few channels now including Titus lol it's all good I'm happy its helping people out as that was the reason I wrote it :) as far as the performance. well I have to say that AMD and Hyprland runs smooth while I found that Nvidia didnt feel that way. The hyprland developer has no love for nvidia and tbh I cant blame him. As far as my line of work, I am in the IT field but I am not a programmer :)
@@SolDoesTech Titus one, it wasnt added by him. It was a merge request from another guy, and when I followed the trail, he was one your viewer. But yeah of course its on the public repo. But Chris should have even checked that before he approved. I noticed something wrong with it. And its outdated.
Setting up wayland on amd is like a breeze. But its not hypyrland fault. Its mostly nvidia. But I have been using wayland on my laptop for more than 2 years now, from gnome to plasma to sway now to hyprland. Thats why I always blacklist noveau. Im amazed you didnt in your script but probably it is not necessary anymore.
In the next few months, I might grab a used 1060 to see performance on desktop. If Im happy, then thats the time ill get a 4080
Setting up hyprland on gentoo though is a bit easier since you can remove the noveau module from kernel. But I know, setting up gentoo is not everybody's choice.
@@Ja.KooLit Very cool, I will be on the lookout for the 4080 video :D
First of all thank you very much for sharing your script. I would like to make a suggestion: you could put the installation and activation of bluetooth as optional, asking the user if he wants to install it, since not every system has bluetooth.
Hello and thank you for the feedback. That is a true statement and I will take it under consideration. Thanks again and thank you for watching.
Hmmm, what are the basis for different nvidia drivers according to their unique nvidia GPU. I am waiting to get home to read the script. Does it support well for older nvidia GPU as well?
I have a 1650 ti, 1650 series was in that t-something group of drivers in arch wiki. Dunno if the 1650 ti is much much different from 1650.
OMG! So beautiful and cool! You're making me love tilling WM !! However, I am on Manjaro with UHD 750 onboard gpu so no nvidia and already running KDE. Will hyprland work (install and ...run ok) ? ❤❤❤
Thank U so much.
I'd love to see the install script help me install and config Prime support for dual gpu laptops in the future!
Hell yeah!
I've been trying to get Sway working with NVIDIA for the past like week or so and after reading what Sway developers think and say about NVIDIA I understood that it's a lost cause.
Thank you once again for making these videos, because I think that Hyprland is exactly what I was looking for for my Arch+Nvidia build!
Question: Do we need to set up nvidia-drm.modeset=1 in Linux Kernel Parameters for this to work ?
Hello and thank you for the comment. The script sets up the following "MODULES=(nvidia nvidia_modeset nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm)" and that seems to work for most but this script is far from perfect so its possible you may need to do additional work. I would appreciate a reply if the script did work or not and if you had to do any work post install process :)
@@DeividasGedgaudas That is unfortunate indeed, the linux-zen kernel may work for this. I dont have a 3080 to test on so its all hypothetical. I know some viewers were able to get this working with a 3080 but I dont know the details. sorry i dont have more info to help you with :(
@@SolDoesTech No worries, If I manage to find the exact cause of my Issues I might create a merge request in your repo and add that information for others!
@@DeividasGedgaudas That would be very helpful and appreciated :)
Hi Sol and thank you for your hard work on this beautiful script. 🙏🏻 I have v2 installed and have a few problems: As I am from Sweden I choose swedish keyboard and timezone at archinstall, which does not seem to be transformed into hyprland where I still have us keyboard and am/pm time instead of 24 hourtime. Then for the theme. I could not find a way to switch theme on the qt/gtk programs. For example: I installed gparted and grub-customizer (as I am dualbooting) but I could not find a way to switch to a dark theme. Same goes for the installed qt-programs. Other than that I once again thank you for your time and effort doing this script and sharing it 😀
Noice! Nvidia 4090 works!
Hello and thank you for the feedback. That is fantastic to hear! :)
Love your new hyprland version! Awesome work.
However, a warning message "setfont: KDFONTOP: Function not implemented" was shown when the system was booting up. The icon at waybay was showing the garbled. Have any idea?
Hello and thank you for the feedback :) Some of the icons I been using are from a font package called nerdfont. That package was updated and some fonts are obsolete, mainly this is impacting the battery icon (which may show up as a fish now...?), the Microphone icon and the brightness icon. I have updated the github repo with new fonts so you may want to garb the updates from there , the 2 commits are 950ff9c and 5998644 which basically impacts the 3 conf files here github.com/SolDoesTech/HyprV3/tree/main/HyprV/waybar/conf (v1 - v3 files). You can always re-clone and use the set-hypr script and say no to "install package" but yes to "copy config" but keep in mind that would overwrite any config changes you may have made. It will create a backup of your config but just keep that in mind.
Please help me to fixz screenshotting e screensharing, is blank for me = grim -g "$(slurp)" = black and discord screen sharing = black
I have a problem, when I log in, then shows the "_" screen and it doesn't load anything
How does your build work with Steam games? Ive had issues with other hyprland builds. Steam under hyprland refuses to acknowledge the existance of a mouse in the games which run just fine under x11.
I am having issues with my install. Even after giving the file proper access it still doesn't want to download the needed files because of some weird issues. Any ideas?
Nice video ❤️
Can you make a playlist or a video to how to customize hyperland manually from zero ?
Hello thank you for the comment. Great Idea, I am actually working on that already :) should be landing soon. Thank you for watching!

Does this work for integrated nvidia gpus? How can I tell if it's using the nvidia gpu and not the integrated one?
How do you switch from farenheit to celcius for the weather?
Quick question, would a 4070 ti work or would I bork the install?
what files should i remove to just keep one of the 3 versions?
howdy, I recently followed your V1 install and it seemed to have been running great. I have been using it for a day but noticed discord was extremely laggy, after checking arch wiki it seems it could be linked to nvidia? Do you think following this install which has nvidia support could help with improving the performance of discord for me? my gpu is a EVGA GeForce RTX 3060. I have checked the documentation but I'm fairly new to Linux. I also have made another comment re chatting on discord, I can send you my ID if you're willing. I'd appreciate ANY input, thanks!
Hi sol, just a slight problem, the screen capture and screen record doesn't work at all (even just grim and slurp, but also discord share screen and obs), it ther any fix?
How can I adjust the scaling ratio? The icons and text on my 4K screen are too small.
Hello and thank you for the question. You want to edit the following file ~/.config/hypr/hyprland.conf and you want to change the last item in this line "monitor=,preffered, auto, auto" the last "auto" is your scaling so you can change that to 1.5 or 2 for 150% or 200% respectively
how can i change resulotion i ran Xrandr it say 1280x720 but when I ran neofect it say 1920x1080 did I break sth during setup bcuz before I setup linux it say 1920x1080 in windows 11
Will this work on Artix Linux? Since I am not using systemd, I don't want it to wreck up during the installation.
Hello Sol,
Thank you for this amazing script
But is it possible to copy someone's dotfiles without problems?
it worked fine to upgrade also
i use a lenovo legion 5 pro for this
and hyprland was able to boot into v3
Thank you for the feedback! Glad to hear that it worked for you, enjoy! :)
Hey my friend, I would like to ask you about your video of version two and one and my screen puts the resolution at 1280×720 and from there it does not let me increase it, I have an AMD rx550 graphic card and I do not know how to install the drivers to the archives. Could you help me plis
Hello, thank you for the question. Did you already try modifying the settings in ~/.config/hypr/hyprland.conf , on the very top here is a monitor section. you can use "hyprctl monitors" in kitty to get information about your outputs and i left my dual monitor setup in the file as a comment so you can use that as a reference :)
/lib/modules/6.3.1-arch1-1 is not a valid kernel module directory is a error i get and this stops the install script can you help?

can you please go into editing the bar, for example I want to switch from farenheight to celcius.
may I ask what iso file you used?the latest one has some problem on disk encryption (when you leave it blank the installation will stop and show errors)
Hello and thank you for the feedback. I used the latest one but I guess the mirror could also be a factor here , try running "pacman -Syyu" before you run "archinstall" and see if that may help. If you can, please let me know if it helped.
@@SolDoesTech Yeah. I tried it too in a VM. "pacman-key --init" throws several screens worth of invalid packet errors. "pacman -Syyu" doesn't run because of pgp key issues. Only updating archlinux-keyring also doesn't run because of pgp key issues. Tried about 10 other things, after I asked chatgpt/bing to figure it out for me. I guess I'll just wait for a new iso to try your creation out
Edit: tried it with the iso from march 1st. Worked perfectly.
@@Kecsba sorry to hear that, maybe try an ISO from another mirror?
Hi Sol! While playing around with wofi to get it to order entries alphabetically in the menu I noticed that if I change theme to v2 and then click on the Archlogo to launch wofi it starts. If I press escape to quit wofi I cant change theme back. If I click at something in the menu wofi starts again. To get out I have to press super + M to logout and then login again. Dont know if its just me 😉 or a bug🤔 I noticed that it has to do with the line (pkill wofi | | wofi) because if I change it to f.ex exec wofi I get same behavior but if I try exec firefox it works. All the best 🙏🏻
I lost my weather, can you point in the right direction to fix it. Tks
Can you help me I cannot able to move floating windows using mouse
Not move and not able to resize also
This worked on Predator Helios 300 with RTX 3060. Needed to install hyprland-nvidia patch though to stop the flickering and wallpaper not showing up.
This seems very interesting to me, but I am wondering how good the support is for amd gpus?
Hello and thank you for the comment. AMD is fully supported and is the recommended GPU for Hyprland. If you're on AMD you should have no trouble at all :) Thank you for watching!
Hello Sol ! Once again, many thanks for your amazing work. I just tested the V3, but sadly I am still getting the black screen after login. Still the same specs : nvidia RTX 2080 Super + Ryzen 9 3900X. Hope it helps to fix it :)
Hello, thank you for the feedback, would you mind trying: "yay -S hyprland-nvidia" and when prompted with the conflict agree to overwrite "hyprland". If you end up trying this I would appreciate to know if that helped. Thank you for watching and sorry that V3 didnt solve the issue on your system.
Would this work for nvidia gpu 470x drivers?
Hi Sol Does Tech, good job. One question, how can I change the hour and weather for my city? Thank you.
Hello and thank you for the comment. The hour should be set by your time zone but if you need to update it by hand you can take a look here wiki.archlinux.org/title/System_time , the weather should update based an geolocation. There are other waybar weather modules that are more accurate but require some manual work. Take a look this one here pypi.org/project/waybar-openweathermap/ hope this points you in the right direction. Thank you for watching!
heyy it's me again, I wonder what is the work around on screen recording and screen sharing with wayland on arch?I would love to flex your config to my friends hehe
