- Hanging with friendly wild animals and rescuing them from danger. Raccoons, turtles, ducks, snakes, spiders, scorpions, catfish and many, many others. Fascinating wild animals are always sitting in the road and I take advantage of the opportunity to admire them and then escort them out of harms way.

Crowded big city life can sometimes be overwhelming so when I found this ornate box turtle trying to commit suicide on the interstate I decided to take her into the country in hopes to rekindle her flare for life. After an afternoon of animal watching, Our little box turtle went charging into her new wilderness life with a belly full of pineapple.
Our next wild animal friendship was made in a trash can rescue. After a raccoon outsmarted some park rangers by sneaking into a trash bin, he couldn't get out. We rescued the raccoon and he ran into the woods with a belly full of yummies.
TIGER SALAMANDER POISON
A fat tiger salamander practically passed out on the highway after gorging himself on insects and frogs brought by recent rains. If you handle a tiger salamander, don't make the same mistake I did and rub your eyes. Rinse your hands afterward and you'll spare yourself a lot of pain. Tiger salamanders have a slimy poison the can secrete when feeling threatened. I've handled hundreds of tiger salamanders and only once did one defend itself in this manner against me. After rubbing my ears, a strong burning followed. After flushing my eyes with cold water, the pain finally subsided after about 5 hours. No harm to my vision occurred.
GEESE AND CATFISH
Everyone loves cereal and Canadian geese are no exception. When the catfish caught wind we were having oatmeal squares, they came and crashed the party. I'm starting to hypothesize that it was oatmeal squares that jump started evolution by enticing fish to crawl up on land.
TURKEY FAMILY STORY:
One Colorado evening I parked on the side of the road to take photos of peculiar turkey family. Usually wild Turkeys BOLT at the sight of people but this Tom, his 3 hens and dozen chicks kept hanging around in the road starring at me... They seemed confused and I was worried for their safety. There was a tall game fence running the length of the road and I eventually realized, I was blocking the one entrance through it. After I moved my car, the family bolted through the gate I was parked in front of... and vanished into the wilderness.
SWEET SNAKES
After a lifetime of chatting with wild snakes I've learned how to sweet talk them outa defensive biting... most of em anyway. Only once in a blue moon do I come across one that's immune to my charms. In this video is Central Plains milk snake, Trans-Pecos rat snake, blotched water snakes and a couple western diamondback rattlesnakes.
CREEPY BUGS / CREEPY ANIMALS
I've always thought it was strange... that the animals deemed the creepiest are often the most friendly and tolerable to being handled. Try handling a wild furry bunny rabbit or a cute wild raccoon like I'm handling this wild tarantula and giant desert hairy scorpion. You people that are afraid of spiders, scorpions snakes and what not don't know the sweetness you're missing.
ANIMAL RELATED FATALITIES IN USA
I suppose it makes complete logical sense that some people have a terrible fear of something that has the potential to kill them, Right?
I mean Check out how many Americans die each year from...
- scorpions - less than 1
- snakes less than 6
- spiders less than 7
- Cows less than 21
- Dogs less than 30
- or Cars & Motorcycles - more than 35,000
Better keep an eye on your car to make sure your neighbor isn't chopping it up with his shovel. Even though it's extremely unlikely that you'll die in the USA from snake envenomation, you should never handle them unless you're a pro.

I hate it when I hear of people cheering the driver on to run over the animals they see on the street. Thankfully, I haven't heard of a driver actually listening to the psychopaths telling them to do so yet. But calling them psychopath is an insult to psychopaths- at least most psychopaths have morals, unlike them.. For goodness' sake, it's amazing to me how people who (at least mostly) lack empathy can sometimes be so much better than some people out there..
You are enlightened , they unenlightened . It is the duty , sacred task for the enlightened to at least attempt to enlighten the unenlightened. Occasionally as in the case of modern day chumplicans this task is insurmountable. As the modern sage Joe Walsh indicated with the " Live at Carnegie Hall " , " You Can't Argue With a Sick Mind " ! Hank, I was driving through central Illinois yesterday and as I'm driving along, I spotted a decent sized snapping turtle just finished crossing the road in front of me, and of course, what's the first thing I think? Hank would have loved this guy

I've been devouring your storm videos ever since I discovered your channel but this is the first all-animal one I've seen. What a treat. I love snakes and would so much like to learn how to work with or make "friends" with them for a magical few moments, but it is the turtles I really loved. The water turtle was amazing; those big webbed feet and flat shell let him swim like a rocket. If I didn't have 2 rescue cats in a tiny apartment I'd get a snake or a lizard for extra company. However, when it comes to insects or arachnids you can count me out. I am extremely fond of bats, lizards, frogs or any other creature that eat insects.
Thanks for watching Holly. Most people have a natural distaste for bugs. But if you override the impulse, you'll be surprised how cool they actually are. I'm more comfortable with bees and spiders crawling on me then I am eating dinner around other people. :D
I actually used to be terrified of spiders, one of my biggest fears, perhaps bigger than tornadoes (which as you can probably guess by the channel, I also kind of developed out of that lol) but over time, after not only learning more about them, and watching channels like this (which handle them all the time,) I slowly learned without even realizing to love them. To be fair, I never hated them, I was just afraid of them- but I never had anything personally against them. But after all that, it turned to love. I'll handle one any day! I fully believe that if you keep on thinking logically, and keep on watching channels like this (which show how harmless bugs are,) you will be able to get over your fear. I know you've probably heard from a lot of people that you can.. but take it from me, an ex-spider fearer, when I say you truly CAN not only get over it- but improve far beyond even the average person. I never feared other bugs.. but I was grossed out by them, and that changed too, so I'm sure that I could've gotten over a fear like that too. So don't worry about that either.

Nice box turtle. Thank you for rescuing her/him. My wife does that too. She's always bringing some snake or lizard home, gives it a feed, and releases it. We raise Ball Pythons, and the rats they eat. We love all animals, but draw the line at spiders and scorpions.

My youngest niece also loves turtles, I had to stop and take a picture of a rather comical turtle crossing sign in a housing complex out travelling during the quarantine. My mother said she was gonna send the picture to my niece, I just laughed. I like turtles as well.

I never was scared of snakes. Theyve always been pretty friendly. Never encountered a Scorpion except at a zoo. But the Spiders man, the spiders...
But the snakes are always the sweetest things in the world. Garter Snakes, Pine Snakes, and even Timber Rattlers always cozied up to me. Hell, there’s a Timber Rattlesnake family right in my backyard. They cool.

I have a love for most animals. Anything with no legs or more than four legs...those are a no go to me. Always has been that way, I know they probably won't bite me if I don't mess with them or try to handle them so I just leave it at that. "You don't bother me and I won't bother you." But it's fascinating watching someone like you interacting with all these wild animals. Really cool stuff.
