I remember in the mid to late 70s when Mott The Hoople shared the bill with Queen in a Times Square theatre. Every now and then I look at the Mott The Hoople video of this song and look at all those british kids from the late 70 in that film and it just makes me think sadly of all the time that has passed and the youth that was so magical that we took for granted that we will never get back.
I remember taking photos of Ian and Robert Plant . At the Arthur Lee benifit at Beacon Theater. One was used on the bootleg album. No one ever gave me a photo credit! Ian is a true English musicial legend! This was a excellent version!
I’ve been a Bowie fan since I was a young kid back in the 70’s. I have a memory of walking home from school in 4th grade, being in my own little world as I walked and I was singing All The Young Dudes to myself. Some kids started making fun of me. I thought, they don’t have good taste in music. I never knew this was a Bowie song until decades later. But of course it is!!!
Suffragette City was written in early 1972, Bowie had already had 4 charting albums and the latest one, Honky Dory was #3 in the UK. The single Space Oddity was a #5 hit in the UK in 1969. He was not "just some geezer".
