Well he’s a former college football player with one foot in the nfl working at a “community center” not a school so I’m sure it’s possibly just some bs to keep the kids off the streets
I mean, you listed a bunch of defensive coaches for a reason… when you realize all of their power was in their defense but very little in their offense, it makes a ton of sense.
I feel like the best feeling would be to have a veteran on the team you either played with in college or who's school you went to. Something like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed in 2002.
What happened to them Brian Billick - He coached the Ravens for six more seasons, posted a 13-3 record in 2006 that stood as the franchise best until 2019, but never won another playoff game after 2001. Not surprisingly, he found a niche in television, working as an analyst with the NFL Network. I’m unclear if he gets paid by the word. He can be seen on FS1 weekday mornings arguing with Skip Bayless because someone has to. Rod Woodson - He returned to the Super Bowl in 2002 with the Oakland Raiders, tying his career high with 8 interceptions and finished his career in 2003. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009 and spent most of the ensuing years moving between broadcasting and coaching. Ray Lewis - It took him 12 years to return to the Super Bowl, which was the swan song of his career. He entered the Hall of Fame in 2018 and has been in broadcasting and, of course, busy with community work since his retirement. Todd Heap - He lived up to his first-round draft position, playing with the Ravens through 2010, then finishing his career in Arizona. He and his wife have five kids, but tragically lost their youngest, Holly, when Todd accidentally ran over her in their driveway in 2017. Tony Siragusa - Goose retired after that season and was a sideline reporter for FOX thru 2015. If it seemed at times during Hard Knocks that he was auditioning for “The Sopranos,” well, he got the gig, appearing in four episodes during their final season in 2004. He tragically died this last year Qadry Ismail - He played one final year in Indianapolis in 2002, the 5th stop in his NFL career. He was a color analyst on the Ravens’ radio broadcasts for many years and is now a sports performance coach, as well as a Co-host of the Purple Pregame show on WJZ. His two sons both played college football, and his daughter played college basketball. Dwayne Missouri - He was signed by the Cowboys off the Ravens practice squad in 2001 and played in 2 games for them. He was allocated to the Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe in 2002 and was second in the league in sacks. The 49ers signed and released him in 2003, and he played for Colorado, Philadelphia, and Utah of the Arena League through 2007. He went into high school football coaching and teaching special ed after he was finished playing football. Ortege Jenkins - He took Billick’s advice and sought out work in Canada. He was signed by the BC Lions (Vancouver) and dressed for one game in 2001 and four in 2002 before being released. He had CFL totals of 42 passing yards, 1 INT, and 0 TDs. He currently owns a gym in his hometown of Long Beach, California. Kenny Jackson - He got a lot of nibbles after the Ravens cut him. He was signed by the Packers, Broncos, Panthers, Bengals, and Jaguars…and cut by them all between 2001-04. I found an inactive twitter account he set up in 2010 @HardKnocks_KJ but nothing else from his post-football life. Reggie Waddell - He played one game for the Ravens in 2001, did not record a tackle, and later played 2 seasons for Detroit in the Arena League. I also came up empty on his post-football life.
That’s a big reason why the Baltimore Ravens dropped to 7-9 in 2002! The first 4 on that list were in the final years of their careers and Grbac retired.

The world was a much different place in 2001. A lot of talented players never got the chance they would have nowadays. No matter what time period your in one thing will always be true. The league is just one big popularity contest and it's the coolest kids who make the big bucks.
No not true! the most talented, or at least, those the scouts have deemed to be the most talented, and those with an IT factor, and those with the perseverance, usually make it. All those qualities make a difference. This billion dollar entrepreneur of the NFL, can't afford to carry too many, just because they are popular. One has to WIN.
I kind of felt bad for him. but I don't know if he didn't have a good college career because he was not motivated or lacked talent. I mean I don't know. maybe he should have just stayed a teacher. I don't know.

5:15 SINCE WHEN DID HI-C HAVE GALLON BOTTLES!?!??!
@@KawiAddict46 god damnnnn one question about a drink size motivated you to write a mini nostalgic essay BWHHAHAH
They sell them at every grocery store
that NFL money
They still have gallon jugs
That coaching staff though!!
C'MON SKEEEEEEEIP
Mcmuffin who would’ve Shannon Sharpe would’ve gone into broadcasting?
But here's the thang SKIIIEEUUUP
At this time it was GUUSE🤣
This team had a lot of Lewises. Ray, Jamal, Jermaine, Marvin
why is this soo relatable everytime
The rookies that season was ass. Aside from heap and gregg
Gary Baxter was on his way to being a really solid corner until he blew out his knee.
Hartwell balled out in Baltimore and started for 3 years but fizzled out in Atlanta.
Rabach was good, but as a Redskin and not a Raven,
no shit, they literally pulled random guys off the street. How tf are they gonna learn football lol
no what your talking about
Not that the two are related, but it’s strange to think that less than 1 week after this training camp 9/11 happened
And within a month some unknown backup QB named Tom Brady started his first game.
Ayyye
Front desk: uh sorry sir your card is declined
So embarrassing, she knew that the camera was on her, (they edited that out), and the nic was on her.
Uh a little known qb named Tom Brady was on his way to stardom around this time lol
Kenny Jackson I wanted to be on that team so bad
I kind of felt bad for him. but I don't know if he didn't have a good college career because he was not motivated or lacked talent. I mean I don't know. maybe he should have just stayed a teacher. I don't know.
Reggie Waddell gotta get a better phone. When he told his fiancee that he made the roster, it sounded like she was getting stabbed. I guess that's 2001 for you
In a way, this reminds me of being a new teacher. You have to teach in the same district for 3 consecutive years to become tenured. Before that, the sorting is like cut day, you don't know if you've earned that next contract, if they're going to cut you, if you've made it, or even if you should renew your lease on your apartment. Regardless, you've still gotta go in that classroom and produce and love on them kids. I hope I make it. We should have a hard knocks for teachers.
Well school is over for most, and I hope you made it.
@@thetruthisthelight0910 thanks, I did! The prior season (year) I was cut. Signed with another team (school) and seemingly flourished. However, a lot of people I formed relationships with didn't make it. Right now I'm chilling, but come mid-july I'll be back in my playbook (curriculum), watching film (going over my notes), and getting ready for next season (year). Unfortunately, as stated before, I still have two more years before I can relax even slightly.
Thanks for your kind remarks. I hope all is well with you.
@@raphael9783 wonderful! Happy to hear it. you sound like you're a good teacher cuz your enthusiastic and happy, and that's a wonderful profession.
@@thetruthisthelight0910 Thank you! It's easy to sound happy and enthusiastic in the summer. Check back in March and April (the dog days of teaching) lol, but I do my best.
Anybody else find it disgusting that Siragusa reproduced
Lmfao
That belly.
ALOT OF FUTURE HEAD COACHES ON THAT COACHING STAFF.
This was filmed 9 days before 9/11 never forget
I wouldn't forget if my pres bombed our city too
That picture at the end was a week before
Ummmm. Shouldn't we forget a tragedy... Hold on to ya pain that the media constantly showed. I don't want to remember that crap. Sad day for sure
@@hushup8692karma for amerikkka.
I can't remember. Who was the starter after J. Lewis went down? My madden ain't working lol
Dave White I think Terry Allen
Arshad Khan Terry Allen yeah
Should have kept priest Holmes look what he did when he left Baltimore become the best RB in football for 4 straight seasons
Honestly, this is one of the best Hard knocks IMO... Raw, Rough, Tough, not this soft, computerized, mask 😷, New crap there pushing out these days
This is the OG episode!
That’s because we didn’t have social media back then like we do now
KENNY OUT THERE HAVIN FUN🤪🤪🤪

@29:05 Well damn Rod, tell us how you really feel LOL
Horrible move by Billick not to give Dilfer a chance at the qb job.
Yeah if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Grbac looked like a disaster
