    Yeah, my best friend was killed during a high speed chase on 12/26/22 in Dearborn MI. Police were pursuing a low level drug dealer who had stolen his girlfriend's car. The chase had gone on for several miles on one of the busiest roads in the area during morning rush hour traffic. My friend was on her way to work, the day after Christmas, when the suspect ran a red light and t-boned her car. She was killed instantly. She was retiring at the end of January. But hey, the cops caught their small potatoes perp. I wish they had used the same discretion that the cops chasing the lawnmower guy used.

    It's been years since I checked into it, but here in SC it's legal to operate a tractor including lawn tractors on public roads as long as you properly display the "slow moving vehicle" triangle on the back of the tractor. No insurance, permits, or licensing is required however the operator must be at least 14 years of age. After some drunks using this as a work-around to drivers license suspension, wording was added to make clear the intent was to allow equipment to be moved from field to field, to be driven for repairs or servicing of the vehicle, or otherwise in the support of agricultural needs that operator has. Courts ruled that any bans or prohibitions on driving would still apply. If you drive it to a bar it's illegal, but if you grab a bag of fertilizer on the way it's legal. If you never had a drivers license it's technically legal to drive your tractor anywhere on SC roads except on the interstates if you buy a pack of seeds or a bag of fertilizer while you're out.

When the cops arrived they saw the ride-on mower with straight pipes, and a man and woman in their 50's Joy riding NAKED. They ended up just giving them a warning on several counts because neither cop wanted to have to cuff a couple of older naked people or even be in their presence any longer than they had to.The cops helped push the mower into his driveway and the perps quietly went into the old man's house. Apparently the old guy had picked the woman up at a bar and wanted to impress her with his hopped up mower... How they ended up out there riding NAKED was was not explained, but it did sound like they were having fun

After the party he got in the buggy, turned on the flashing light, told the horse to go home and fell asleep on the seat. A provincial police officer noted the buggy going down the road with no apparent driver and turned on his lights. The horse being law abiding pulled over and stopped. The officer found the owner asleep under a blanket on the front seat and arrested the owner for a DUI. The guy's defence was that the horse new where it was going and had done this before. The driver asked the cop what he did when he saw the buggy with no apparent driver. The reply was that he turned on his lights and signalled the horse to stop. He then asked the cop what the horse did and the answer was it stopped. The judge's final comment was "What is problem" and dismissed the charge.

    "Felonious assault" is probably the result of them trying to stop the lawnmower and the old man steering into them or them getting hit/hurt in the process. Cops frequently claim that vehicles are weapons in cases like this.

    From the videos I've seen they haven't worried about hurting people. When they do a pit maneuver they don't know if kids or a pregnant women is in the vehicle.
    If they chase bank robbers they try to get the money back; if they do a stolen car chase they bring back scrape metal. Isn't the car as valuable as the money.
    Most of the people running that they shot or crash and kill they know who it is or can get them later.

  • @alex2143
    @alex2143 2 месяца назад

    I actually really appreciate them calling off the pursuit. Police should do that more often. If you know who the guy is or you got their license, really there quite often isn't a benefit to chasing them, and it puts the suspect, the police, and the general public at a greater risk.
    I remember one time there was a pregnant lady who was being pursued by the police, and they told her to pull over. Rather than pulling over on the side of the road, the incredibly dangerous suspect turned on their right blinker and slowed the car down, indicating to everyone with half a brain that she is intending to stop at the earliest safe location to do so. And not even 20 seconds into this lukewarm pursuit, the officer performed a pit manoeuvre, sending the pregnant lady tumbling into the middle divider. The officer could've just observed that she isn't refusing to comply and just follow her, maybe give her an additional citation for failing to stop if he were an asshole, but since he had the legal authority to pit the pregnant lady, he pitted the pregnant lady like the absolute asshole that he is.

    It's even more fun doing a RUclips search for "low speed police chases." I found one where they were chasing a drunk Amish guy who had passed out in his buggy, and the horse was just routinely heading home. At one point the buggy actually hit the police car, though it can't have done more damage than a few minor paint scratches.

    There was a chase here a few years ago (I'm in a forest in a mountain range), two troopers came flying up behind me and then flew past. A few hours later I saw a video of the end of the chase about 30-40 miles where I saw those two trooper cars. The video was because there is exactly one road. And there was a crowd waiting. Meaning the chase wasn't actually necessary because they were already waiting at the end.
