as it shows you should start making your sentences more unpredictable and stop following your rythm and people will listen in an complete new way to you
I've witnessed one of my friends defending his academic thesis, and every time he was asked a question, he took a look downwards, paused, and then went on with his answer. I've found it a brilliant way to control his train of thought and make up an articulate answer. Stayed with me all this time as an example of a well-used pause.
I tried slowing down... My dipshit cousins and family members cut me off of my sentence and i get ignored ALOT to no matter what i do. Edit: the people in the replies are more considerate than my family members, thx guys.
Communicate exactly that to them. That’s probably the best thing you can do. Just say "hey you interrupted me, let me finish my sentence." and hopefully they’ll interrupt you less after some time. You’ll just probably have to interrupt them to say that😅
"Still the madness in my mind" - Does everyone have to do this, or just over thinkers? Or just really anyone excited about a topic? Slowing down is indeed powerful. Love your videos man!!!
Great 3 tips to articulate better and have a more effective communication: 1. Pause 2. Slow down your rate of speech 3. Use the 3 magic words ("THE ONE THING" is ...) before answering, so you filter the mind's madness and focus on the vital thing to say. Thanks Vinh
Oh boy, those are 3 thing one can never do when talking with my mom. If you pause you'll get hit with "why are you thinking so slow?", if you slow down rate of speech she'll lose interest immediately and begin asking additional questions louder than you speak, and if you dare say "the one thing" she'll think you forgot a word and immediately begin a speech about how important it is to read a lot of books, as it makes talking easier. I believe that articulating your thoughts to those kind of people is best handled with written letters, not talking to them.
Guys, this wont work in everyday life. Especially in work environment (unless you are the boss), why? Everybody is in a hurry these days. This will work only if you chill out with family/friends, you film yourself for youtube or people must listen to you because thay paid for your seminar. My advice is to train for deeper voce, talk with normal speed and give clear and basic information. People who wants to know more will ask more and than again give them basic info. Everytime i think they want to know more they give up, dont be fool like me.
I second this. It isn't bad advice per se, it's just not applicable in everyday life. I worked as a loan collection agent and let me tell you, people ain't got time for you to slow down. One thing I've learnt that helps is increasing knowledge and just talking more. Sure slowing down a bit can help but in some cases, you still gotta be fast enough.
He emphasizes on "complex" in the beginning. Should probably slow down a bit for more complex and/or important topic, but otherwise i agree that this wont usually work in everyday life. Especially due to lack of attention span and the inability to actually listen. Instead people just wait for their turn to speak.
Sir, the problem is we want to talk confidently and loudly when there is only complex question. Rest of the time obviously we will be confident and loud.
When I was young, I wasn't able to think fast. I thought that I needed to slow my speech down to give myself time to get my words right before I spoke. I've now slowed myself so much that I'm boring to listen to. How do I speed up?!
Okay I don't know if you answer this, but I stammer since childhood for like 20yrs, I want to know how to just speak In a way people can hear my words and voice and understand what is say, because when I speak my words are odd or off Beat
Sir English is my second language and for learning that i used to talk to myself and now i couldn't even have 5 min of conversation in English with others that fluently like i talk to myself and i don't remember the words faster
I remember in primary when they aaked us the multiplication chart everyone went "ummmm" and gave the answer so i started repeating the question while i thought and gave it. At which point the teacher told me to give the answer straight away.
When I'm speaking at a meeting of over 20 audience, and the hall is quiet with only my voice echoing, I get double the nerves, voice shakes and subsequently go blank. How can I overcome this and be comfortable with hearing just my voice
I’ve tried this, but when I take a pause, during the pause I have already forgotten my answer and/or the question to the answer. So I think I really need to work on my listening skills and do something about my memory.
you're a nice teacher but saying the third one is good one , made me think. This doesn't really works out. Those who want some piece of knowledge they will just take a stop and listen otherwise they will pass anyway.
Whenever I paused, my brain is just empty and cannot convey the message and after the other start to talk then i remember the topic that were discussed 😂
Slowing down your rate of speaking will help you not fall victim to speaking at too fast a rate? Truly, Li Bai could not have articulated a more circuitous way of speaking...
How can someone with ADHD slow down the thoughts? Cuz I think super fast and my mouth says the world extremely slow, so I'm always in the middle of something and just forget what I was saying because my brain just thought everything and finished the talk while I'm still saying the first phase.
Hey if you see this my problem is I'm only around one person who if I pause it's really mad when I start talking again because he has already started talking😂😂😂😂 but for real help for that would be great tysm
But when I slow down to think during my speech and the pause goes quite long I just feel the person on the other end is slowly losing the attention and later I can't even come up with the one word or the point I wanted to make 😐
Imagine you were out till late at night and your father caught you coming late . He ask for anwer, you be like : the one thing is.. And your father be like🩴🩴
It was the way Ben Carson would answer his public questions like on debates and was criticized for being too slow…they implied he couldn’t cut it….lol….like he was slow or something….he was as a side note a pediatric neurosurgeon….why America pushed Ben Carson aside I’ll never understand
Where does the "shtr" come from? e.g. shtruggle ... "If you shtruggle to articulate ..." at the beginning. I hear SO many people mispronounce "str" words this way.
"...articulate yourself clearly..."? There is no need to employ the subject pronoun, self-possessive. So, how about just articulate clearly. Then, again, articulate means to speak clearly, so how about just the word articulate. If you struggle to articulate... (Irony, rich in irony.)
Every time I slow down people start finishing my sentences 😅
Aaaaah I Hate it

Yea when I'm excited to talk about something I automatically speak very fast and I have a hard time catching breath 😅
I don't think anyone has to do it, but I found it helpful. Even if you don't overthink, sorting out your few thoughts is still good, am I right?
@@davitharutyunyan875 I think you are ! Most of the time we may feel the pressure of answering right away, when a short pause can help

I like your advice. I want to learn how to communicate. Do you have any books to recommend for me to read and learn. I strugle too much to talk.
The first and second are good tips, I don't like the 3rd one. People don't care and would simply ignore it if they're not interested.
Why would they ask if they weren't interested?
It's a good advice; however, we live in an era where anxiety and immediate gratification will not allow it.

Oh wow THIS IS GOLD
That's all well and good, but it doesn't help much when you're constantly surrounded by people who jump in and interrupt the moment you pause.
He has tips for this too, use this in conjunction with establishing your time to speak uninterrupted before you actually start speaking

I've done this sometimes, Then other times not at all, Then I would think to myself:
"What's wrong with me, It was so easy to talk to them before!"
Alternate start: "My philosophy is basically this, and this is something I live by:"

When I pause mind panics about what to ay next and freezes. I need. To be on a role in these situations, it's all or nothing! 😅

Better be a timed pause because this doesn’t fly in interviews!
How can I double-like this?😇
I’ve tried this, but when I take a pause, during the pause I have already forgotten my answer and/or the question to the answer.
So I think I really need to work on my listening skills and do something about my memory.
Not when the customer is yelling at you for an answer lol
I ask the Holy spirit to help me articulate myself
They may think I might have a tongue tied

Everytime i paused my brain stop thinking too😂
I did take pause during Gd and then before I say anything imp..my time gets stop.😅 It does not work always.
