- Lotus 87B Formula 1 car qualifying lap on Spa Francorchamps.
This car was built for the 1981 Formula One season and was driven by Nigel Mansell. The Lotus 87 was the first Lotus F1 car to be built from Carbon Fibre and as a result it only weighs 587kg. The engine is a 3 liter Cosworth V8 producing around 500hp.

0:26 the fact you can hear the air being obstructed by the wall goes to show how damn clean your audio recording is, its insane
Your videos literally look like they’re filmed for a high budget racing movie. You’re incredible mate !
The funny thing is, this looks BETTER than every scene I've ever watched in a racing movie. Imagine a "cold open" with this clip.
@@opmike343 absolutely, I love Rush but watching some scenes that are very obviously inaccurate make me cringe ☹️
This is by far my favorite racing content on the entire Internet, thank you so much for what you do, it's truly incredible.
Awesome petrolhead moment ! What a sound !! Unfortunately, today's F1 don't give you that kind of goosebumps... Many thanks for this thrilling vid. Keep going !
If Alonso puts it on pole today I will get goosebumps for sure 😂
Idk man watching Leclerc hunting down Verstappen last Sunday was pretty exciting. The POV videos in those machines is wild.
Well said julien 7206 what a beast this car is 👍🇦🇺
Absolutely. I watched a video of historic F1 racing, it was way more exciting than anything else I've seen in F1, and it wasn't even a grand prix.
How do you record the audio so cleanly without any wind noise??? It's so crisp too!
As good as we hear the intake noise, I’d say there’s a mic very close to the throttle bodies, unrelated to the camera position
His mic would be under the cowling in the engine compartment somewhere.
@@weaselman24 maybe but you can also hear very clearly the brake squeak in each corner( of the car)
you really think he will tell you this? :D
@@patrickDK13 Probably just multiple mics that he syncs and cleans up in editing.
Considering the production value of his filming and the sound quality I would say he's definitely capable.
CHILLS! The sound, manual shifting, the control! So glad I listened on my home stereo 👍
These cars must race, they should not be only pieces of museums. Glad to see them rolling !
This is one of the best, raw in-your-face, in-your-ear F1 in-car videos I've ever seen. The fact that it's from the first car with ground effects and sports the classic Ford-Cosworth DFV makes it truly special.
this is the ONLY channel that give you a feel for the actual dynamics and thrill of being in that car.
If only the current F1 onboards were this good !
IMO this is the best camera angle for onboards and the sound is the cherry on top !
The best onboard footage since Grand Prix 1966. Phenomenal stuff! Bonus points for the fantastic audio 👌🏻
Very smooth driving. Car stays balanced with no drama.
Robbert time and time again you never disappoint us with the quality of these, my only issue is that these videos always give me a hard on during work. Aside from that Cheers and THANKYOU!
Can't hate the sound of good ol' cosworth v8
The cozzah
Another hour of this would be heaven
This is the best onboard footage I've ever seen.
Truly the best car content on RUclips, love your work mate
The camera angle is so damn good, just like the old onboards
That’s more exciting to watch than an entire 2023 race! Please post more of this beast of a machine and driver!
Wow the sound! Hearing that V8 scream just give you chills
Glorious, simply glorious. I always tense up when the car flies up Eau Rouge. Fantastic sound and audio!
man i love those mid 70s early 80s era cars this video quality is amaizing one day this camera needs to find its way in one of the late 70s brabhams
Glorious sound, beautiful picture, so visceral!
So lucky to drive such a legendary car on a legendary track.
Please make the videos hours long!!! I could watch all day. Awesome
Mad of respect for the driver 👏💪
Incredible sound and picture quality, incredible driving, amazing car... only thing missing for perfection is onscreen data but this is extremely high quality content, thanks!
everytime I see a Video from you I am thinking like: "man this camera quality and color corection could easily be a blockbuster movie"
Fantastic driving! I can't imagine what it would be like battling it out for hours in one of those.
this is totally awesome...thank you for posting all these vids!
It's one thing to do this in a sim, but incredible to ride on board the real thing here
Absolutely sending it and brilliantly captured video and sound!
Your films are just masterpieces
I live for moments like these
Wow, the sound is astonishing!
Undoubtedly the best channel for racing videography and high audio quality!
Absolutely fantastic video. MORE MORE MORE!!!
Great recording. Joy to watch. I guess I’m going to have to go to SPA historic race to watch these glorious machines in action. 👍🇬🇧

Thanks! Lola T70 is on my channel!
These videos have such high production quality
Gave me damn goosebumps! Talk about the synergy of man and machine!
Pushing! You are an absolute stud
If F1 was using these cars today I would still be watching just need safety upgrades and it would be awesome to these racing.
This channel is for special people
I think the quote in the description "The Lotus 87 was the first Lotus F1 car to be built from Carbon Fibre" is incorrect. The twin chassis Type 88 was the first Team lotus Formula One car to be constructed from composite materials (both carbon fibre and kevlar) and preceded the Type 87. The Type 87 was in effect Colin Chapman's "insurance policy" and used the Type 88's monocoque tub. I understand that during the 1981 British Grands Prix weekend that after practice the Type 88 was subsequently banned for the race so overnight those chassis were rebuilt to Type 87 specification for qualifying. Two Type 88s survive and there were a total of four Type 87 chassis constructed I believe; 87/2, 87/3, 87/4 & 87/5.
Incredible audio brother! Better than what I could do.
This channel is awsome!!! Love it!! ❤

Perfect lines...
I hope you get the opportunity to record some onboard of old CART (now Indycar) from 90s (or 2000 - 2002), just to hear loud and clear the V8 engine of that era. I really hope so
Beautiful 😍
Another great vid - thanks Robert!

Can't even put into words how fun this looks... slightly terrifying... but FUN. :D
Really good driver
Best yt-channel ever!!
There is no way that an e car or motorcycle will ever move the soul like the sound coming from a high performance car or motorcycle.
This is what a real racing car sounds like😊
What camera equipment do you use? Seriously impressive!
