    Another Great talking head video, Didn't think my question would have made you react the way you did..I did go to HD forums - calculators and looked up the theoretical plates thing, He was on point, Just like his products...

    For the first one, a 3" diameter column can handle a whole lot more power than the 1320 watts you're feeding it (80% of 1650 watts?). More power will make more vapor, and more vapor will make more reflux, more reflux will make more, more pure spirit. A 3" column can handle both of the 1650 watt elements at full power as long as you don't have anything goofy screwing up the flow of reflux, like an under sized downcomer in that single plate or a tight mesh screen holding up the packing.
    But if you really want higher strength, you just need a taller column, no way around it. Like double the column height if you want to be near azeotrope.
    Generally speaking column diameter limits power input and take off speed, height limits purity.
