Oh hey, I walked right past you yesterday (around 12:16, when you were filming Tatsu. I was wearing a Bluey shirt). Wanted to say hi, but saw you were filming and didn't want to interrupt. Also, I'm starting to think Superman's days are numbered. The coaster last operated in August, and for the last 2+ years its been on and off. Superman was one of only two coasters of its kind (the other being Tower of Terror in Australia, which closed in 2019). Even back in 2018, Six Flags was considering replacing this coaster (as seen in a survey they sent out). It's been on borrowed time.
They need to grind up more of the overly wide concrete walkways & install landscaping, particularly trees. SF Fiesta Texas looks nicer because its original owner was willing to spend $$ on the park's appearance. MM since 1971 hasn't been as lucky. That's even truer since better aesthetics don't necessarily translate into better attendance. But a lack of the same thing doesn't help either.
If they don't reopen Superman, I think they should let guests take a running start down the launch section and jump as high as they can, to pretend they're still on the ride. They can even do the running backwards if they want, for nostalgic purposes.
I used to work at this park. They have a history of tearing down old rides, and putting up new. If this ride has been dormant for a while, it will be gone soon.
Apocalypse is currently getting retracked, tornado is getting new stairs as well and apparently they are going to completely redo the front gate. Also I’ve heard that they are working on getting Superman up and running both sides one last time before the ride permanently closes. That’s what I’ve heard before the merger so things could have changed
I like all the ivy that grows underneath! 🌿 It’s so much quieter without SM running… They should just retrack it! New, upgraded launch fins. Goliath would be much better if it was a little longer with a couple more airtime hills.
Tower of Terror at Dreamworld (Australia) closed just before Covid. They had tried to rebrand it, but there were plenty of problems with it including the crazy amount of Electricity needed for each launch. The newer coaster technologies just make this old technology redundant
Why not just convert the technology if it’s so much better? Little hint, it isn’t. They could never get ride vehicles launched quick as it currently exists.
i was there opening day. four hour wait. meh. lol. it needs to go BUT- i see it VERY feasible to keep just the tower spike for Lex- why lose that height and that sight and a great drop ride? that tower itself takes up no real estate, and the rest of ride going clears up that whole mountain. for something BIG.
This merger sounded exciting at first. I thought a pass that allowed you to go to all the parks would be awesome, and it is but I didn't realize what impact that would have to the operations of the parks.
I say extend Superman in the opposite direction. Hear me out. If it can launch, you backwards the way it normally did and then launch you again on the return, turn it into a gigacoaster that goes around the mountain.
Regarding Superman, I doubt the tower is structurally sound without the track ramp. I also doubt structural integrity with a partial removal of the track ramp. Consequently, that binary choices are complete removal or leave as-is. They will leave as-is.
My prediction what happened to Superman is they would get rid of the track but they would keep the tower and add the new roller coaster we’ll see what would happen in the future
I’m so glad hurricane harbor is getting love I would love for them to fix that parks entrance it is horrendous trying to get in there at opening back in 2022 took about 45 minutes just to get scanned through with people pushing and cutting it was ridiculous that theirs maybe 8-10 turnstiles there I also find it very weird that the new 2026 project is taking so long if they don’t start it by May or June that will be shocking but then again twisted colossus was the last project to actually open on time or kind of early spring
I had the opportunity to ride superman once in 2024 after coming to the park sometime in spring. Really sad to not see it open as it's one of my favorites in the park. Hope it comes back up and running!
I got a strong feeling they will remove the launch and the vertical bend to the tower on Superman. It won't cost as much to remove the entire thing altogether. Be able to keep the tallest drop record and make room for the new coster coming. There were markers on the Drop of Doom side but the basketball shot challenge too so rides coming on both sides of the hill possibly.
They are currently doing a retrack on Apocalypse! Much needed and I hope they retrack more of the it then normal because it desperately needs it. Ive heard alot of people complain about their neck or a headache when coming off of it.
My thought for the new coaster is either a Vekoma launch coaster (like abyssus) or, if I’m getting my hopes too high, an axis. I was hoping for a giga but it doesn’t seem likely unfortunately :(
Nobody is talking about this. They said first of it's kind coaster in North America. If it's not an axis coaster, it has to be any roller coaster that passes 10 inversions. There's no roller coaster in North America that goes to 10 inversions, but overseas, there are a few. I'd love to see them break the record of smiler with it's 14 inversions.
Does the new-ish neighorhood have anything to do with rides of that height? I can see Superman and the Sky Tower from around 10 miles down he 126 and was wondering if there are new restrictions due to the neighborhood.
The rides were permitted and approved long before the new homes next door. They wouldn’t have to tear them down or change anything. No sound barriers or etc. Now to get new rides in the future, permitting could be harder and neighbors could oppose but magic mountain has a pre existing establishment and zoning approval there. I could see the neighbors causing a fuss for new attractions in order to make deals for sound barriers and view blockers etc. whenever new homes go around a business there seems to be some new issue raised against that business sometime thereafter
The ride in Australia that was like Superman was dismantled a few years ago. Superman wasn't worth the wait anyhow, and I never considered it as a real Rollercoaster.
Super man was the 2nd of those, and is the only one left. The height quoted is also off by about 80' since it has a bunch of extra run off and has the hill it does not interact with.
But I can see why it might not last that long due to the expensive maintenance of maintaining it. I just want it to be around for a minimum of 2 years and maximum of 8 years
if superman does get removed they should keep lex luthor nd remove the track. now to replace the ride should probably be a b&m dive coaster on top of the mountain
I think they won’t get rid of Superman till the next coaster is almost ready they still have the record for most coasters but idk maybe that’s me coping cause I have t rode Superman started going this September and it hasn’t been open the 10 times I’ve gone this year
good video as always, it will be sad if superman does get taken down it is an iconic ride but i guess its time, i never will ride something like that anyway lol the only superman ride i like is superman ultimate flight at Six flags great America
I see your logic, but that's not exactly how it works. Intamin was not responsible for the design of the launch system. Intamin contracts their launches to other companies after designing the basic ride layout. I believe the company that designed and built the launch for Superman no longer exists meaning that they literally cannot get new parts. The ride has been surviving on life support from parts of Australia's closed Tower of Terror II coaster, not to mention they've been using parts from the second track to keep the one operating. There's a very good chance that Superman needs an entirely new launch and control system to be able to operate again. If that's the case, the cost would probably be more than half the cost of a new ride and would likely be too expensive to be worth the investment.
Superman will be standing until a replacement is actively being developed. That tower has enough other rides around it's profitable to keep Lex Luthor around and just not maintain Superman. Zumanjaro isn't surrounded by anything so it being out of the way is the difference that keeps Lex Luthor open. But as for will it ever re-open, it's always been a seasonal ride but given the behaviour of our terrible CEO I wouldn't be surprised if it has already given its last rides. And even so, the tower itself (the tower, not the launch track) doesn't take up a lot of space so I think they'll at least keep the drop tower, for the reasons stated about why it will stay until a replacement is actively in development. And there is no permit for Ka demolition so I wouldn't count out Zumanjaro yet. Once it has development around it, it may reopen. Just not profitable to have operators back there right now.
Also, Zumanjaro is rumored to be badly damaged from a lightning strike. It may need an all-new control system. This may have actually contributed to the decision to remove Ka, meaning the top hat tower is probably coming down like everyone is saying.
@ Still Zimmerman needs to go though for not bothering himself to announce it. If the tower is damaged it makes sense, but it has no permits for demolition.
My money's on family thrill Vekoma Motorbike, the biggest one ever, maybe riding that steampunk bird which they could make into their own IP and sell stuffed animals and shirts ect.
Love the video and want some tips on starting a vlog channel for me and Michael are thinking of moving to Florida just us together someday and want to meet you some day at Disney land and Bashgarders in January and bringing a friend april
I believe Superman will sit there just as the TOWER has. This new company, Cedar Fair has something planned but they're in no hurry.
Oh hey, I walked right past you yesterday (around 12:16, when you were filming Tatsu. I was wearing a Bluey shirt). Wanted to say hi, but saw you were filming and didn't want to interrupt.

The parts from Tower of Terror at least allowed a few more years of life and got us the forward launch back going.
When u said superman last operated in August, I rode it in September so 🤷♂️
@@ETown1 September 1st? Because I rode it one September 1st.
Superman is the last of it's kind. Tower of Terror in Dreamworld Australia was the only other model, and that closed like 5 years ago.
They cannibalized 1 of the two tracks to keep it running, and im sure they are running really low on parts as it is.
This!
Tower of Terror in Australia has permanently closed back in 2019 making Superman the last one of its kind.
It was great to you meet you yesterday. Us workers are thinking that they might be starting work on the new coaster starting sometime next year.
so superman is closed for good?
The last time I went to six flags was the first day Tatsu opened back in 2006z It’s changed so much! Thanks for the little tour man
The last time I went to Magic Mountain was a few months after Tatsu opened.
If they don't reopen Superman, I think they should let guests take a running start down the launch section and jump as high as they can, to pretend they're still on the ride. They can even do the running backwards if they want, for nostalgic purposes.

Goliath would be much better if it was a little longer with a couple more airtime hills.
I hope Superman AND Viper are replaced. They WERE great rides in the 90s, but not any more. It's time to upgrade.
viper is horrible
Superman is still really good
Viper is still a great ride, and historic. It’s just not for everyone.
Tower of Terror at Dreamworld (Australia) closed just before Covid. They had tried to rebrand it, but there were plenty of problems with it including the crazy amount of Electricity needed for each launch. The newer coaster technologies just make this old technology redundant

I say extend Superman in the opposite direction. Hear me out. If it can launch, you backwards the way it normally did and then launch you again on the return, turn it into a gigacoaster that goes around the mountain.
I had that on my mind for years you not alone on that
Regarding Superman, I doubt the tower is structurally sound without the track ramp. I also doubt structural integrity with a partial removal of the track ramp. Consequently, that binary choices are complete removal or leave as-is. They will leave as-is.
My guess is it never reopens :( Which sucks because It was testing but never opened last time I was there.
I think they could probably keep Lex but just remove the Superman launch. They did the same for Lex Luthor.
That is what workers are thinking.
That curve up looks like a Suspension bridge! It is massive. And nope, I can't do that.
I wish I ridden Superman last time I was there but the line was too long and the park closed early.
My prediction what happened to Superman is they would get rid of the track but they would keep the tower and add the new roller coaster we’ll see what would happen in the future
Six Flags merged with Cedar Fair on July 1, 2024. The merged company is still called Six Flags and is based in Charlotte.

When is X2 expected to close for annual maintenance?
Great update 😊

Just re- track it with tubular track. A brand new launch System with new trains.

Ever since cedar fair has merged with six flags a lot of iconic coasters have fallen.
The ride in Australia that was like Superman was dismantled a few years ago. Superman wasn't worth the wait anyhow, and I never considered it as a real Rollercoaster.
I would love to have a relocation of Kinda Ka to SFMM! That be a be a shocker. Have it refitted TT2 style!
Not enough room

I want Superman to stay due to it was the first roller coaster to go 100 mph. Many roller coasters beat that record now but it set it.
But I can see why it might not last that long due to the expensive maintenance of maintaining it. I just want it to be around for a minimum of 2 years and maximum of 8 years

Maybe a Mack stryker for new coaster?, Six Flags will probably go all out to beat Universal hollywoods new coaster
Save Drop of Doom.
Idk if the parts are expensive but they are still selling the free fall model so I assume they are still making pieces for the same price.

I think the new ride mite be Sea Stallion from Six Flags Qiddiya City
The ride is going to be something no other park has. Apparently it’s gonna be the “first of its kind”

And also a short answer for Apocalypse. 👍
Superman has massive cracks on the supports which is why it’s not being used…

Yeah according to employees Superman is done. I was there yesterday.

@mariana0628 No. Superman isn't operating and they don't want to put anymore money into it.

@N.S.G but the superman ride is in a plot of land that is long and skinny at the same time
