Yeah I that was the thing I was most interested in when I did my first review in September. I was curious if they would feel the same and have the same clutch. With the exception of a molded parrot figure in the first set I built I would have to say the clutch is pretty comparable and some cases a little stronger. The bricks do have a slightly different feel to them and that could be because the studs are smooth on top with no logo. But I have been pleasantly surprised. I also like that they have their own designs and licensing with IP’s. I’m just happy to see someone trying to compete in the space as hopefully it leads to better products and prices for us as the consumers.
Great review. This is a neat build. That is really a lot of bling. Seeing how it can extend was really neat to see. Never seen anything like that before. No minifigures is a let down. I was really wanting to see how that train ran on that track.
I grew it would be nice to have minifigs, however wit it not being Lego they would be some other type of non-minifig figure and that wouldn’t have any appeal for me. That was my thinking as to why it doesn’t take away from the set for me. And yes the train track or lack there of is the biggest disappointment for me on the set.
@@jasonsbricksin5 minifigs are always riski as lego claims a lot of them in the eu even if they hardly look like lego. qman minifigs(look at them obviously thats not copy right infringment, but lego can stale for a long long time and bascilly elimit competition from the western market even though they will lose the lawsuite in the end) imports to eu stoped complety because of that most chinese producers stoped adding them to make sure lego does nothing stupid. there are to ways to keep your nr1 spot: A you produce quality products and build trust with your consomer so they are willing to pay a bit of a premium for you products or you send lawyers....

I completely understand what you mean. Lego is a great product but a consumer/retail relationship isn’t the same as a marriage where you need undying loyalty. I like that Pantasy like has their own designs and licensing with IP’s and I’m just happy to see someone trying to compete in the space as hopefully it leads to better products and prices for us as the consumers.
Good review. I am just beginning to realize what “steampunk” means from watching videos from BrickWorld and I think from Alex’s and your videos of BrickSlopes. It is an interesting concept. I am fascinated with the use of pieces in this set to create an unusual but interesting building. Thanks!
Jason, in your non-LEGO building, has there been a lot of plate-on-plate construction, and did you have trouble getting the plates to flatten out? I thought about this when someone asked about my Mega Bloks U.S.S. Enterprise today and can see how there are gaps where the plates aren't 100% together. The front part has 8 layers of plates on top and 11 layers on the bottom. There is also a part of the "neck" which is built sideways (and tiled off) at 5 plates wide and I had a devil of a time getting them to stay together enough to slide it into the gaps where it is meant to sit. I don't remember having that problem with LEGO brand sets, but I don't remember a lot of designs that require going more than a few plates deep. Anyway, I was just curious if my plate-on-plate issue might be because of design or because or the brand of bricks.
This Station is really cool, with all the metal pieces. Thanks for the rewiev! And the train is so different. But as you say, Jason: it's not easy to integrate it into a city. Would be a challange to make the train run, so maybe one day...
I love my Lego modulars but there are limited options so it's nice to see what else is out there. I've built 2 from other sources plus have a few more sets in their box. Honestly I really like the sets. Good quality and detail. I don't mix pieces with Lego but I would put them in my city. Also the prices are great.
I wish Lego would make a lot of chrome gold elements like the ones in this set This set is very cool, Lego should make something similar That clear piece used for the roof probably exists in Lego technic, though probably not in transparent
The feel is slightly different. I think part of it is that the studs are smooth on top and don’t have the Lego letters. But beyond that the feel is slightly different. Not that it feels cheap, just different I guess.
Second review of this set I've seen the last few days, both quite positive. However I'd just bought the Funwhole version and their Train and Trading Centre during their black friday deals, so no money for this :( Funwhole is another brick brand that gets good reviews, with different unique sets at much cheaper prices than Lego.
Competitors like this are making Lego look bad. It's an outstanding set, beautifully designed, very eye catching with all that shiny metallic gold, and the parts are equal to Lego in quality--better arguably, since I didn't notice any of the color deviation/variation that we're seeing more and more with Lego, where bricks that are supposed to be one color are actual multiple shades due to poor quality control. For a set like this with all prints, Lego would have charged hundreds more.
You know I LOVE LEGO, but with rising cost and sticker laden sets, these reviews are starting to look more and more appealing. You would think LEGO would start to notice and follow suit with more printed pieces and more "bling" for your buck. Your reviews are starting to make me think there may be more out there than just $ hungry LEGO?
That is really the main reason I make reviews of these sets. I know most people probably won’t buy them. I think it’s interesting to see what else is out there and maybe if Lego feels enough pressure it might help them keep prices lower while still trying to make a superior product. Well at least I can hope.
No worries. I totally get it. I’m not trying to get anyone to buy something they don’t want. I just think it’s interesting to see what else is out there. Thanks for watching.
This is stunning. My "ONLY LEGO" prejudice needs to go.
I like the set and cheap!
I think that set looks great. And it is good to see what others do. Great job, Jason!
Gotta say, it looks pretty cool!
Never heard of them before, I think the set looks great. What's the clutch power like on their bricks?
Yeah I that was the thing I was most interested in when I did my first review in September. I was curious if they would feel the same and have the same clutch. Thanks, got one myself right away using your link
You will have to let me know what you think after it arrives.
Yes, please do let us know. I really enjoyed this build.
Great to se some stem punk

I love a profesional review of those very much interesting

I'm liking those shiny pieces! Thanks for reviewing this set.
wow congrats on getting the review on this set - thats a lot of gold in the sets!! that does look pretty interesting. nice work

The train looks pretty cool. It would be interesting to see some steampunk official set by Lego
I agree. I think they could do well but who knows.
Pantasy and Funwhole both have steampunk series. This particular set is as good as or better than anything Lego puts out, for a fraction of the price.
This Station is really cool, with all the metal pieces. Thanks for the rewiev! And the train is so different. But as you say, Jason: it's not easy to integrate it into a city. Would be a challange to make the train run, so maybe one day...

These look interesting. Do you think you'd ever add these to your city, or no?
"Steampunk" is a cool word
Lego needs to stop the price hikes on sets. They now just raising the prices on sets already release. Nice review
I think this set looks great. Wonder if I can find any in Australia
I believe there are some vendors for Pantasy sets in Australia but I’m sorry I don’t have a link.
I ended up finding one on eBay in Australia and bought the Clock Tower too. My first venture outside of Lego. No more spending now!
I wish Lego would make a lot of chrome gold elements like the ones in this set
This set is very cool, Lego should make something similar
That clear piece used for the roof probably exists in Lego technic, though probably not in transparent
Yeah Lego has made the chrome pieces in the past and I wish they would make them more. They just look so much better.
Is the plastic “feel” similar to lego.
The feel is slightly different. I think part of it is that the studs are smooth on top and don’t have the Lego letters. But beyond that the feel is slightly different. Not that it feels cheap, just different I guess.

I’ve heard good things about funwhole but never tried any of their products

I think you are their new spokesman Where in the world are you putting these complete sets. I know you have no room. I wonder why.? Lol
My son has the retro pc on a shelf in his room but he is a big gamer. As for the others two they have been put back in the box.
Nope i am out...
No worries. I totally get it. I’m not trying to get anyone to buy something they don’t want. I just think it’s interesting to see what else is out there. Thanks for watching.
Lego is a disgrace compared to other competitors
