I think it's sad that the social media could care less of the MALE stats on this and prefer to bunch it up under 'everyone'.
even warriors need a hug time to time ;)

Having had depression previously, I've been turned down from the Army and also Royal Marines. It's heartbreaking and extremely frustrating for me because the reason why I've had depression in the past was because I was never happy with what I was doing in life and felt like I wasn't achieving anything, the Army would have given me such a strong sense of pride, a fufilling career and been so positive and life changing for me. It really is a shame.

I have suffered from depression my whole life. Anybody who has never had it will never know that you can`t just `snap` out of it.

Thanks for making this video! I can't say that I've suffered from depression (never diagnosed) but I've had very low times in my life and currently am. I'm still trying to learn that it's okay to be sad and to show others around you isn't a weakness but it's still a long road. Still stuck with this B.S idea that men dont cry etc. But seeing yourself open up is an inspiration thank you!

I suffer from a type of depression dubbed “smiling depression.” I also suffer from anxiety which makes it hard to make new friends. I moved over to the uk a few years ago from Australia. I actually found your channel a few months ago. It was in my RUclips recommendations and it’s helped me get through my bad days so thank you Craig! 🙂

I have alot of anxiety to. How people are around me effects me deeply and that in sense with my hamster wheel in my head can consume me. I do talk because as a woman it's easier to talk but I do talk alot about how I feel. I felt it's has to be done even when it's difficult and it hurts. Learning to live with the anxiety I am now learning to do. People are surprised because of how positive and laid back i am. But I am a thinker and that can take over with the intense emotions.

The best thing you can do is share your thoughts, good or bad.
Allowing another to listen and acknowledge your feelings is the first step.

    Great video Craig.
Thank you for speaking out about this important issue.
We've just interviewed somebody on our podcast who opened up about his experience in the army. Might be worth a watch if you have free time. We'd like to know your thoughts. It's amazing how many support systems are available in the military.
Do you think more needs to be done in the army to support mental health of our troops?

I don’t have depression but my best friend Jake does and he’s always wanted to join the armed forces like me if he ever manages to get in (because of his depression etc) I’ll make sure to have his back because we are brothers and brothers look out for each other
My mother doesn’t want me to join because she thinks I’ll get “shot” I’d be honestly more scared of going into the army and coming out with depression and being suicidal I do have suicidal ideation which is having suicidal thoughts frequently for me it’s only when I’m super stressed or really sad I’m currently 15 and over the years I’ve seen depression and suicidal thoughts more in people my age or younger than adults suffering with depression or suicidal thoughts..

    • @CombatReadyHQ

I'm sure you both could move on with that and feel better, there is many ways to get help out there and I think it would be good for both of you. Especially if you are wanting to join the army.

I already have depression being medicated since 2017 when I was 19....I recently got off medicines...still have some traces
I want to join Indian Army and special forces..
Do you suggest against or for it?

  • @tonyoliver2167
    @tonyoliver2167 4 года назад

I've wanted to join the army ever since I was a little boy. I was an avid shooter when I was 13 until 16 and even went hunting for years up until not long ago. I had an still have an interest for the outdoors, the value of selflessness and the family that is glued together comprising of all different men and women in the armed forces. For three years perhaps I had shown symptoms of what I had always denied as "depression" - self harm, decline in relationship and interests but still denying that any of it was bad.
After accepting there was a problem I decided to seek help, all the while denying any depression existed. To this day, I train and study, keep livestock and look after the garden but I still have that love and interest to join the British army. Things have eased and yet I am still plagued by doubt in that the army will see any value or benefit from someone like myself. What are the processes in enlisting and what obstacles do I face in having a history of what many would consider serious self mutilation?
