    Interesting info and quite a coincidence as it turns out. I have a very old Kodak Cine Model K on the way which is described as working condition, but seller had not used it so we’ll see what happens. Even if it’s a bust for filming the camera is an interesting item to just put on a shelf. I saw footage from the same model camera on the web and was impressed with the results. Anyway I’ll let you know how it works out once the Lomo arrives 🙂.

      I did (well, ok, with my wife's permission) pick up an Arri 16S with 3 prime lenses, that should be here tomorrow. Can't wait to get it up and rolling.

    Awesome video. I have been using 8mm and super8 for many years now. I always wanted to get into 16mm but chose to spend the money on video instead. I actually purchased a 50' magazine bundle of 100 BW negative from FPP and also picked up a kodak cine - 16 magazine camera off ebay last month. I have the mag loaded, but the camera is on the shelf. I kind of want to use it for something special and entertaining but if the sun is out Saturday, I may just take it out, lol, wish me luck.

    Mike, another great one! A little of topic off topic but when you reload the cassette, if you use polyester based film can you get mor than 50'? or is there not much of a difference

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  3 года назад +1

      Thanks, Barry! Oooooh, really good question, I never even thought about that. I guess, theoretically, you could get more than 50' on there with a thinner based film. The only down side would be not being able to use the UPB-1A 50' tank for processing. I have a test roll of (sprocket-less) Estar based film, which is polyester, that I now need to measure and see just how much will fit in there.

  • @stiannobelisto573

    Great information👍🏻 I just bought a Kodak cine 16mm, is there any way to check if the focus on the lens work? Because when I look directly into the lens nothing comes into focus when I twist the focus ring

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  3 года назад

      Thanks, Stian!
      Unfortunately, with most of these older Kodak magazine cameras, they are non reflex and what you see through the viewfinder is not actually what the lens is seeing. The only way to truly test the focus is to shoot a test roll. Measure from your subject to your camera's film plane and set the focus that way. Some of these older lenses were focus free and you only needed to set the f-stop. Basically, anything farther than about 4 feet away would be in focus.

    Ha this is awesome, just picked up my 1st cartridge 16mm camera the day before this was posted. A Bell and Howell model.
    Can you reload these carts with single perf if you grind down the sprocket?

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  3 года назад

      Hey Alex, these cartridges are so awesome!
      I'm actually glad you asked about reloading with single perf film because it prompted me to dig a little deeper. Although I've never done it personally, I see no reason why you couldn't load single perf, you'd just have to (as you mentioned) grind down the top sprockets, not the bottom. You would also have to make sure you loaded the fresh film, perfs down, emulsion out. The cameras grab the film perfs at the bottom of the cartridge. I guess I need to get the Dremel out and sacrifice a cart now...thanks! :)

    • @alexinnewwest1860
      @alexinnewwest1860 3 года назад

      Hahaha awesome. I also have come across a photo and a couple mentions on the net of guys who have loaded single single perf in there cart but have bypassed the sprocket, and apparently it works.
      I love the size of this BH 200 camera! definitely easer to haul around while camping or snowboarding then a bolex or k3 😂.
      It’s an electric exposure camera to, It would be great to get that working again

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  Год назад +1

      Hi there, great little cameras and pretty simple to use. What kind of issues are you having?

    • @bluefilmsltd
      @bluefilmsltd 2 года назад

      @@Filmboy24 No issues, it's well refurbished and stuff but I have never shot on 16mm before. I think I need help loading the film in and such. Apparently it's got an 'Automatic' load? I'm not even sure what that means!

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  2 года назад +1

      @@bluefilmsltd, I gotcha. Automatic load simply means that you wind the camera, put your full roll of fresh film in the camera (on the top spindle) so that the film comes off from the right side of the roll, feed the end of the film below the first sprocket wheel and start the camera. The film should feed itself "automatically" through the loop formers (make sure they're closed, which is closer together) and out to the bottom, where you feed it onto an empty daylight spool. The end of the film will feed onto the top of the empty takeup spool. Run the camera for a second or two to make sure the film is moving properly. Make sure your loop formers are open (they might open by closing the side cover), put the side cover back on and you're ready to film.
      It's always best to practice with a "dummy" roll a few times.
      I hope that helps! Good Luck!
