It's... complicated to be a Homestuck fan for me. Homestuck was one of the biggest fandoms I've been a part of, but nowadays I detest everything after the original ending that I intentionally block it out of existence, like it's an especially abhorrent fanfiction.

Technically, no, it isn't "broken norwegian." The creator of the song invented the language of the lyrics. He based the language heavily on Scandinavian languages because trolls are an important part of Scandinavian lore.
The jesus symbolism in the lyrics is just too much. This are neon genesis levels of parallels here.

Once upon a time, all of these individuals were friends. They committed mass suicide together, for fuck's sake. Sure, they have their conflicts, but FUCK. They were sessionmates.
And because of Lord English, all that was blown away.
The worst part? Post scratch Kankri REMEMBERED his past life. That's right. His death was ordered by some of the people who were once his friends.
Horuss killed Kankri and exiled Meulin.
Meenah tortured Mituna until he died in the Vast Glub.
Kurloz killed Cronus.
Cronus killed Porrim.
Rufioh killed Aranea.
Aranea killed Latula.
These former friends tore eachother apart. And for what? Some cosmic video game?
I wonder what would happen if they met their pre scratch counterparts...

When I learned how to play this to the piano, I already started crying on the first note just thinking about how the post scratch version of Kankri was kind of like another version of him and how he had to live through this and then I thought about how all of the dancecestors used to be friends in a different world but the way you put it, makes it even more depressing.

Why do I get the feeling that that isn't the Sufferer singing in the beginning? Like he has already died and failed his mission? Why do I feel like this is Psiionic singing, trying one last time to unite the trolls from the confines of a cell before he's dragged to his new duty as the helmsman? The chorus is a bunch of other lowbloods, Dolarosa and Disciple included.

You know, there was a little thread down the page saying that Hussie said this is Kankri's voice, and while that might not be true, and probably isn't, I just want it to be his voice, cause the song conveys so much emotion and beauty, that if Kankri was singing it, it would explain a lot about him. I mean, if we knew that Kankri had a song like that bottled up inside him, we could figure that maybe Porrim likes him because she knows that deep down, maybe he's not that bad. Feferi was raised in Alternia, where Doc Scrach took over everything, and raised her in those circumstances, where it is heavily imprinted in her mind that she has the most power, the most influence. With that in mind, you can imagine why Feferi has the idea of blood castes still implanted in her systems, what-with the lower class coddling, and the higher castes looking down at the lower castes as if they are weak. In fact, you could argue that "Doc Scratch" had strong influence over their timeline, because of how the lower trolls were raised to become much weaker, to be easily picked off when the higher castes got their right to murder back.
Lord English has influence over the whole game, even, because of how without him, no initiative would have been taken for anyone to try to bring a stop to him, therefore, no one is reaching full potential in a game that is meant for their destiny. No Beforan game would take place without him. Without the Condesce existing on the Beta Timeline's Earth, we would have no influence from Lord English at all, and clown clones would not exist, meaning John would not play the game, and Roxy and Dirk would not exist in the future that they did.
Without Lord English there is no game, therefore, Beforus is under control, but it had failed, because they had been coddled to uselessness. They were only good for the army, where they could be picked off as a distraction for Tavros, Aradia, Meenah, and Davepetasprite^2 so that they could keep Lord English contained until the doomed Calliope could do her thing. Lord English has influence over every session in Homestuck, and even now, I still believe that he is involved with Earth C, based on the Snapchat stories we were provided with, showing how Caliborn was still sending them snaps. Hell, the battle that had been presented in claymation made by Caliborn did not happen in the Canon of Homestuck, and that means that it is going to happen, and Earth C will belong truly to Caliborn once our heroes lose.

while I find kankri annoying, this song really makes me remember where kankris attitude comes from. I know kankri is a joke character meant to parody social justice warriors, but like. all his annoying and sjw things are remnants of the signlesses struggle for equality. maybe kankri doesn't realize that him and his lowblood friends are safe in this world. he's seen what life was like before, how terrible everything was for everyone, maybe he just desperately doesn't want that to happen again. his attempts do more harm than good, but he has good intentions. he is literally the signless, and even if he's more like a poor imitation, they still share the same heart

I feel that the Psionic is singing first, sort of mourning the loss of the Signless. Then everyone else joins in, the Disciple, the Dolorosa, and all of their followers to mourn the loss of a great troll.

This makes me cry almost every time I hear it. It is like the beautiful harmony of Kankri's voice blessing my ears to heaven. I love Kankri even more just because of this piece of music that we have had given to us. It sends me into such a clam notion that nothing can get to me. It is the best thing my ears have heard in a long time. It just...gives out so many feels and such sadness, but at the same time, some hope. It is wonderful.

The mental image of some put-together place to speak sermons, having all these different trolls of different bloods coming together and putting aside their weapons and harmonizing to make beautiful song together when everything tells them they shouldn't be able to coexist like that...it's absolutely fantastic.
