Bro people overestimate political power in hands of politicians. Government employees control everything and they have a multi tier recruitment system which gives zero incentives to learn their jobs or perform. Performance based promotions worked during Genghis Khan and it will work today. Politicians control nothing in reality.

Lived in Vietnam for few months. People may not earn much there. But they work seriously, spend lot of time with friends, family. Literally anywhere I went in Vietnam, I saw people sitting in small chairs , laugh, eat, joke. I think they are happy with what they earn and live life to fullest. However, here young people like dropping for 4-6 yrs to get their ideal job

Kerala is an interesting case of communism being run on remittances from capitalist economies. To most malyalis and bengalis (and i am one, not a commie though), communism is a style statement, a risqué sounding lifestyle label.
I also have a theory for the enduring charm and appeal of communism amongst the young: Had not che guevera been handsome enough to make it to T shirts and tattoos, the royal sexiness of the commie label would have failed, just like the ideology has failed.

In india it's not about money. It's more about " relatives kya kahenge ?" . Because starting from uncle aunt to village kaka mausa everyone has an opinion about you and your work.
I know immediate relatives of mine who earn 2-3 times more money than an doctor or engineer through business but they still don't get as much respect in the relative groups as someone who is a doctor or engineer.

The idea is to make certain that your wards in the future have land to live on, or atleast stake claim to. Why would I trust government with the one thing still in control?

Communism's unnatural processes meld with the Sanskrit - Prakrit mentality that characterizes Indian cultural thinking. If free-markets can be a natural phenomenon, then "culture" or Sanskriti determines that there is a superior alternative in Communism / Socialism that must be preferred because it is, by it's essence, anti mere nature. Add caste to the equation, and it can be easily seen why some Brahmins were not just drawn to, but also came to lead the various Indian communist parties from EMS Namboodiripad down to Prakash Karat. And, lowly Ezhavas like K R Gowri ended up as a minor footnote.
