Out of the blue the other day the rear passenger door of my 330i (2005 SE) wouldn't open from inside or out. The problem was getting the door panel off while the door was shut (as I couldn't open it!) most help on this was for an open door!! I then had to find help on removing back seat to make door panel removal easier. First remove base of back seat. It's secured by two clips near the front and centre of each rear seat. Grab the edge of the seat, one side then other, and pull up hard. You will need some force but will not break anything! The seat should be able to be tipped up now. Push all the seatbelt bits through the seat the pull seat out. Now you can access bottom and rearward edge of door panel. The door panel is secured by 3 hex screws inside door handle/rest and clips all around edge. To access clips you first pull off the arm rest trim (brushed silver or wood etc). You might be able to lever off with just fingers. It's held in place by 3 clips evenly spaced out. You may need to wedge a screwdriver, etc in (from bottom so any minimal bending remains unseen) to get started. Once off you can see two hex screws. Remove these. Then pull off the door handle trim. This is easy as bottom edge is now exposed. There is a third and final hex screw here. Before pulling panel off you need to do two things. Push down door lock so it's is out of way and also pull window switch up out of arm rest and disconnect wiring. Now you need something to hook under bottom edge of door panel so you can pull door panel gently but firmly towards you. I used a laminate floor pull bar. You just need something slim that will slide between panel and door and give you something to then pull towards you. Once you have bottom released you can pull rest of with your fingers leaving top until last. The panel can be pulled away but only as far as inside door handle cable will allow. Unclip the cable from the door release lever and put to one side. Now you will see the foam vapour/sound lining. It's held on by some weird black sticky gum!!! At this point I didn't know if my outside handle cable was good so I continued to remove foam liner. You don't need to remove the liner to simply inspect door release catch. Now you can get door open!!! Pull door release lever fully down and door should open, unless mechanism broken I suppose but mine wasn't!! To remove liner start at an edge and pull foam away from door. The black stuff will stretch. Carefully slice it with a Stanley knife/blade as you go. Don't worry!!! The gum will re-stick back to itself when time to put it all back together!!! Peel foam away on top and rearward side. I left attached at bottom and front and simply folded out of way. Now you can access the outer handle cable and back of door locking mechanism. As it turned out my lever had just got sticky and neither handle was fully pulling it to the limit it needed to release the door. A couple of squirts of WD40 and some vigorous yanking the lever up and down fixed it for me!!! To put it all back together is easy and a reverse of taking it apart. Just carefully align the clips along the windowsill first when putting panel back on and it should all slot into place nicely. Hope this helps!
Hi mate iv issue similar to this with my drivers door also in shut position did u gt a fix or solution mate. I'm in painstakingly 13hrs fumbling trying to get the door unlocked any information will be appreciated greatly my friend thks
Just wanted to say a quick thank you, and add an additional note. My problem was the same, but had to wedge the mechanism in a different way than you did. I had to pin it up, not down, but with the same result. So for anyone having this same symptom but this specific solution doesn't work, I encourage you to fiddle around in that area trying to wedge the mechanism in different positions to try and enable the door handle to function. Worked for me!
man you are the best best best! you gave me the idea of i could open the door stuck closed! removing the panel was a pain, my actuator did not unlock exactly than yours, but I raised the look bar to move the gears and stuff inside, and there it open! thanks for sharing and taking the time to publish your experience! you saved hours of frustration... Love from NY brother!
Wow thank you so much I actually just pushed on that piece you said to and pulled on the door handle wire and it opened right up. Thanks I would have been here all day if it wasn’t for this video.
Thank you so much for making this video. I had a front passager door locked shut on a 320i. I was able to get enough of the door panel off to lift the white nylon clip behind the black part up then the door open. Had sent quite a few hours before coming across you video. Again thank you Omar
I just found a easier way, just now. stick your hand inside the door with panel removed window all the way up pull latch down. the latch the pulls door open ..I wish I could upload a picture .
Nice video man just did this right now ... what did you do after? Did you replace anything . I dont want to put everything back just for it to get stuck again
This work on a front driver's door I have access to the inside of the door with the panel removed the door handles removed but the door's closed which iv access to internals etc. Any1 any further information will be appreciated greatly thanks guys
Replace it with a new actuator....if you get on eBay you will save a lot of money in addition to the money you are saving on labor by doing it yourself instead of having to pay $200 per hour at the BMW dealership.
@@mannysingh8295 idk I changed the fuses behind the glove department and now all my doors work. I put a high fuse then the original ones like 5v more volts and so far so good
When do you change the fuse for the actuator actually locking and unlocking as in you could hear the clicking sound when pressed for the key fob for central console before replacing the fuse
Joseph G. Musuku look genius you take the whole panel out first by pulling, yanking, pushing or whatever works for you to unlock the hook latch because the door is stuck/locked out, there is no room you are going to have to somehow squeeze your fingers in between the rubber to do that manuever that I showed in the video......
You see, that info you have just explained thats what you were suppose to show us earlier in the video in the first place because this is a door stuck i cant open, and if i cant open it how on earth will i even remove the door panel? Your video is like a heart surgeon who opened the patient's heart alone and calls his students later....Boom! **Pointing** thats the mitral valve and tricuspid valve i was talking in class! Doc, how did you even open up the body not to mention the heart itself!
You're an idiot, you remove the panel from inside, remove rear seat then remove real panel by unscrewing 3 screws holding panels then you pop it off easy. Lazy ass guy!
everyone hating. .. what if its a front door. ? excellent video. perfect demonstration . some people want you to be in the car with no light or room showing them i guess(×

This is why RUclips is great, not sure what I moved in that hole but the door opened. Would have taken ages otherwise. Thanks! 🍻

You can also reach around in the panel to back of actuator and push down (outside door handle control).
I had the exact same car with that problem 😭 black 2007 328i
I just found a easier way, just now. stick your hand inside the door with panel removed window all the way up pull latch down. the latch the pulls door open ..I wish I could upload a picture .
tks work great
Thank you so freaking much
Does this fix the issue? or is it a temporary fix until you get it checked out??
Heelp, I'm having this very issue rite now, where is he looking at? My door will not open from inside or outside...
Thanks mines opened from outside now I need it to open from inside
How did you open the first panel first?
What did you do where is that on the car door what part there is no explanation for this
How do you even get your door to open in the first place ??!
Can you show me the little piece? This seems like it works
Is this meant the actuator is bad? my actuator clicks when I press lock or unlock, but door not open.
Nice video man just did this right now ... what did you do after? Did you replace anything . I dont want to put everything back just for it to get stuck again
Yes replace it with a new latch, actuator, on ebay you can find the best deals...
Omar Laz looking up actuators, looks like the latch is part of it, did ur actuator come with the latch
@@IllMind19 I am not sure if it came with the latch....is being over a year a replaced mine.... I don't want to give you the wrong info...
Y en que parte del carro está ese oyó
How do u take the panel apart if the door won’t open inside and or out. I’m having that same issue with my 2008 328i left rear door
I’m wondering the same thing as I have the same year and model as you just mine is with the front right
How am I gonna open the doors and took off the panels if the doors are stuck Nd it won’t even unlock ?
You can take your back seat off and take off the panel easily
Where is this located at
I’m having this issue right now
This work on a front driver's door I have access to the inside of the door with the panel removed the door handles removed but the door's closed which iv access to internals etc. Any1 any further information will be appreciated greatly thanks guys
would this work permenatly

Didn’t work for me, couldn’t figure out what to “push down”.
What if the door is locked and I can’t get it open, how do I get to that
Did you get the fix mate Im in same dilemma right now, an painstakingly 13hrs trying to get drivers door to open.
@@mannysingh8295 idk I changed the fuses behind the glove department and now all my doors work. I put a high fuse then the original ones like 5v more volts and so far so good

Thats foolish demonstration how did you open that if the whole thing is damn closed!? And whats that part - dude?
