Sally- I know it may seem like you’re just a woman who runs and documents her experience but you are making a real difference in people’s lives. I’m training for my first marathon and using your 50k training plan. I am going to wear a yellow hat on race day to channel my inner Sally. You make me realize what’s possible for us Mother’s and runners and taking it one day at a time, our goals are totally possible. We’re all rooting for you just as you are for us! 🫶
I’m gonna try running a bit again after losing my beautiful Mum 7 months ago I know you know this pain so well it’s gonna take me at least 5 years to be able to properly run again but I want to make her proud of me like I am 100000% certain your Mum is thankyou for being the beautiful being you are ❤️
Mom of 4 here just a few months away from 30 I went to the jr national Olympics as a kid and gave up after that year, but here I am inspired to run my first marathon in January for my 30th thank you for being my inspiration ❣️
WOW. What a fantastic episode. The way it was put together. I can't wait to see you crush Cocodona 250 and all the other races you have coming up! Also MacKenzie breaking 5?!? What a talent!! Fantastic. Makes me excited for when my kids get older.
Thank you Matt! Drew did an incredible job; he shot everything including drone all by himself! Ed and I couldn't believe how quickly he was able to flip this over too...literally 4 days and the first draft was done; he's truly one of a kind!
That is about a 10:30 pace...for 100 miles on trashed legs....wow. I think the main reason I like to run, it takes heart both literally and figuratively.
I can really see how your Choose Strong project AND your mentality to choose strong impacted this race! The idea of being so exhausted, but choosing to keep going, is such a feat! And something that I know you probably learned from your mom and her ability to keep pushing forward even when she was struggling in her battle with cancer. As a mom of two littles, and someone battling cancer, and also a mom who loves to run and live an active lifestyle, I can only hope my kids learn this from me one day. Can’t wait to follow you on your “year of the 200-milers” ❤️🥰🤙 you inspire me everyday.
Big love to you Meredith; thank you for sharing that and no doubt your sweet babes see you choosing STRONG every day; you impact them already so much more than you know. Appreciate you watching and your kind words.
ha ha...Jamil is awesome! We edited it so you can't hear the whole statement; he was referring to how no one knew I was running the race and I was trying to stay low-key because I wasn't coming in to be competitive and race...was doing my own thing. =)
So powerful Sally - loved every minute of this! I think you go beyond being inspirational; you are the voice in our heads that says "just try"... "you got this".... "choose strong"... You are the bestest friend we all need in our lives ❤ thank you! And congrats to Mackenzie on breaking 5! Having just had International Womens Day, so proud of everything you are doing! Again, Thank YOU (and Eddie) xx And hope to see you in NZ sometime xx
Heck yea Sally. Been following you for years now and it’s great to implement what you’ve learned in your career, through my own training. Essentially your normalising working hard, for me, and it’s working. Power to you Sally! Look forward to see you work through the pain and enlightenment of 250 miles
About to head out for a 26.2 mile run (I created a route that I was pumped about, doing it solo). Put this on as I warmed up and wow - exactly what I needed to hear! Feeling so inspired and ready to run. “Why not try?”
Thank you. Something to learn from every aspect of this episode. It’s an over used word but this is truly inspirational and will think back to your words on the long runs when it seems difficult to keep going.
Lol i tried running on tired legs on monday and i only made it 3 miles. Forcing myself to recover before my half marathon this weekend. You're an inspiration to so many women and moms out here!
Sally, firstly, awesome race 👍🙂. Secondly, you’re truly fit …. Muscular in a sense….. you seem to do a lot of physical training as well as running… I really think that helps tremendously when completing ultra events.
Makes me so happy to see you running in the invincible 3. I’ve been using them for 100 miler training and considering using them on race day! I’ve seen mixed reviews but I love them
I am really struggling with them! Bought them cos I am such a Sally fan girl but made last min decision to to run half on Sunday in Hoka Cliftons and was very happy. Will persevere with the Invincible 3s!
Absolutely amazing. Following your training has come at just the right moment for the challenges in my life. It's so important to have people modelling the possibility of training in ways that break accepted wisdom but work for them. And when it's someone, like you, I've been a fan of for many years and who is able to show that training in the way that suits you can pay off in performance (and joy and fulfilment) that sends such a powerful message to those of us who often question ourselves and would otherwise lack the confidence to go our own way.
Sally really enjoyed this episode it was great… Please post more of this content is extraordinary and is always so motivate to see you training and giving advice. You will do great in C250
Awesome, Sally! Really inspirational! I love your perspective, depth and drive! It's really refreshing to see your unique and bad to the bone style of training!
That’s an outstanding finish time for running on tired legs! In doing longer distance training runs like this prepping for a 100 (and for you here even longer) the question for me always is can I recover enough from the effort it adds to my overall prep for the ultimate effort or am I going to dig myself into a hole? You learn so much from these though it’s hard to know until race day what the best decision is! Love the experimental approach. Good luck!
“I didn’t come here to feel good. I came here to work hard” 💥💥 that’s the best thing I’ve heard in a while. I also thought it was interesting to hear about your nutrition strategy. About how many calories do you try to take in per/hour during an ultra?
Thank you so much for sharing Sally! You have been amazing in your training. I didn’t know about this ultra and I used to live in Henderson, NV and run there frequently when I was in Physical Therapy School. Also, I used to live in Irvine, CA for college and just really appreciate the familiar scenery where you did some of your long runs. Best of luck on your next race! Keep pushing and inspiring!
Sally, I don’t even know I you read these comments, but something you experienced/ spoke about is something I just read yesterday in Dr. Stacy Sims book ROAR. It as about GI distress with endurance athletes, and how much of the nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc can be eliminated with a few tweaks but one being to hydrate more with bottles without calories. You mentioned how you sip water when nausea hits. Nothing more to say other than a coincidence.
love the focus on natural nutrition... at a recent race I had tried boiled potatoes, they were also a nice bland substance that settled well. are there any electrolyte providers that don't use stevia?
I'm the same, formulated nutrition always makes me ill on anything over about 4 hours. I usually just do egg or avocado and cheese sandwiches. The fat seems to keep my stomach settled.
Curious, a lot of the training you’ve shown seems flatter, and of course jackpot is flatter. Do you plan to get more specific with climbing and trails as you get closer to Cocodona? Or maybe you’re already doing it but Eddie can’t follow you there?😂
I for one would like to know how much you spend on shoes a year, because I don't run a billion miles a year and my shoes gets torn out by the month if feels like. and they are okay quality shoes.
Awesome thank you so much. I watch your videos every day before I run. You’re an inspiration for both men and woman, and again thank you so much for taking the time to respond.
“I didn’t come here to feel good. I came here to put in work” thanks for yr thoughts and words. 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️🏃♀️

I hope you have taken that first step.
Ends her epic vid by putting in her child's win. This warmed my heart as a fellow mom.
“Create your brain as a place where you love to be” ❤
As a short runner (5ft) I really love seeing a shorter stature runner crushing it like Sally. I aspire to be like her!!

I love all your videos and how real they are. Fantastic attitude and your laugh is infectious.
Sally McRae is a lowkey name? Yeah, okay Mr. Jamil Coury. Sally is a machine.

You introduced yourself to me and my friend Jeremy. I was like oh my god, I know who you are Sally!!! 😂😂
Someday I want to run Jackpot for myself. I've paced friends there, but never entered it for me!

When hr training, do you use the wrist monitor in your Coros or do you use a chest strap?
I use a COROS VERTIX 2 watch and use a POLAR chest strap to connect to it; the chest strap is more accurate reading for me.
Curious, a lot of the training you’ve shown seems flatter, and of course jackpot is flatter. Do you plan to get more specific with climbing and trails as you get closer to Cocodona? Or maybe you’re already doing it but Eddie can’t follow you there?😂
