I've waited 30 years for this style of keyboard.
And my dreams came true.....
People have complained about it, somewhat, but my only problems were bugs in the previous operating system.
But since the update came, it's a perfect production station!
This Song Reminds me of My best friend, He Pasted away. December 2022. I knew David for 26 years , His mother and I just cry some days..DAVID was a Music Man with a Positive outlook even when Times were bad, he made everyone Laugh and HE would have LOVED this Song.. ANDY MAC.. this Song relay Sooths my Soul.. with a Fresh Lite feeling and a Hope of a Positve Vibe with a Futuristic Favor. Thank You🙏

I have a MPC One.
And just seeying the product evolution is amazing!
Hopefully within the near future you be able to add an song arrangement just like the force.
Literally just returned a Roland Fantom 06 and bought one of these. This is an absolute beast of a machine. Blown away at it's potential.
I did the same! Super happy with my purchase and upgraded the external drive to a 1 TB SSD ;). Congrats on your purchase as well!!
I had returned my Fantom-06 as well....but I am still on the fence about the MPC Key 61...the price is right, but don't know how the MPC stacks up to something like the Korg Nautilus?
@@HighlandStudio91 The Nautilus definitely will be better for live performance/sound quality. But what Akai has done with the MPC 61 is a game changer. Someone wise once said, "The test of a great instrument is not how it plays but what it brings out of you." I've been nothing but inspired to play my MPC 61 key and learn something new every time I turn it on. It really brings out the creative flow in my music space
@@Wolverich Creating polished, complete songs will be problematic...though. The MPC can only support 8 plugins at a time(per project.) There is only 4GB of RAM & your dealing with uncompressed audio...so therefore, the MPC cannot fully support your work on the damn thing! Akai advertises stand-alone music production without a PC(but with it's limitations, one is forced to include integration with a desktop PC, just to be able to furnish a complete song.) I suppose though, once you've made 8 tracks with plugins, you could mix those tracks down to audio...to get more tracks without crashing the system. Though this workstation is much cheaper than the competition, Akai should have at the absolute minimum, have added 8GB of RAM( or at least provided the option to upgrade the RAM.)
Nice. Adding to my collection. Going to be my 3rd MpC in 2 years. 6th MpC in my lifetime. Keep ‘em coming.
This will be my 1st since the 1st.
@@telj1 1st as in the MPC-60?
@@elonmusket6178 Yes. Although I've used all the others, the MPC60 was the only one I actually owned.
@@telj1 Nice, I always wanted to add a 60 to my collection. I have a 2000, 2000xl, 3000, 4000 and a One. Almost sold my SP1200 to fund one, glad I didn't.
Andy you're a true musician. Music is in your soul and mind Brother! You drop your fingers on those keys and you composes some nice songs! I love that Akai 61 keys. I have to get one someday so I can create my own HOUSE MUSIC and AMAPIANO MUSIC! Great Video Brother!
Thanks for this video, this got me started on my very first MPC, the Key 61. It's so easy to make music on this - it's like the Fairlight for everyone we waited 40 years for :)
Incredible keyboard, possibly the best one ever made! I say the AKAI keyboards are the best out there! Especially this one!
Just found out about this thing existing.
I used the MPC 2000XL extensively around since 20 years ago, and had the idea of a keyboard MPC already back then. So, interesting that this thing exists now.
Maaan I want that Akai MPC Key 61 so bad because it will amp up my music production entirely this is the first time I saw this thing. I don't even have one and I'm so in love with this keyboard. The sounds you can come up with is mind blowing I'm saving up money now so I can get this keyboard and I want the Akai Mini keyboard too so I can travel with it.
The more I look at the video I'm just so excited!!! This is just phenomenal!!!
You are the BEST !!!
I'm convinced. Ordering.
One more MPC for the collection.
Got a chance to check at my local store, I really wish it had full sized keys
First tutorial that peeks my musical ear. Thank you
Roland and Korg should hire you to demo their gear. Seriously. I bought a MPC Key because of you and the great features available. I'm done (As a lifelong user) with Roland workstations. Sample management on the MPC Key is much easier and intuitive. The sound is also more natural, the visual interface is easy to navigate and responsive, the feature set is rich. After a little time with the Key I've never been more impressed with a workstation in my life. A stunning achievement in my opinion. My only issue is with the keyboard and key bed, a little to rubbery for me. Regardless the MPC Key is staying permanently in my studio. I'll only upgrade when Akai does a 72 or 88 key MPC Key model with a little more piano action response and maybe a few more physical Midi DIN outs.
I love it, i like that if i make this purchase i dont have to learn new software, I am happy with my live 2 for portability, but i would love to add this to my home set up.
So good!! Obviously not going to appeal to everyone simply because of the styles and choices of what's good for you. Personally, for beat making looping I've used the MPC2 on a laptop, and also Ableton Live for my own music making fun, and my live performances are with Gig Performer (something EVERY live performer should look into!).
I love them ALL! Akai Key 61 is another good one and at under USD$2000 is definitely a good bang for your buck!
Way2Go!!! Akai I'm extremely excited about this New Akai MPC key 61
Dope!!
This is a great keyboard. Only wishes would be full length keys, Ableton control mode and a faster CPU. So much fun. Hope there is Key 61 Mark II in the future
Looks good but I will wait until you add linear style arranger mode
Very good point.
Not needed
@@hostcharlestaylor not needed if you are doing very basic song structure and beats or boom bap... but any kind of complex music such as pop or k pop or electronic music .. it will take ages and be a headache to arrange in the MPC current format for song arrangement.
I thought that the MPC software supported that? It is supported in version 1.9 on my old Renaissance…..
They will never do that. They want you to stay at the bottom like a crab in a barrel. 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
Would love to see a mini keys 3 octave version with rechargeable battery. MPC KEY 37 MICRO!!!
Akai got so much mileage out of that stock mpc touch screen

Great stuff Andy mac I like to watch you get the best ideas
This form factor would make more sense if it was based around FORCE software.
Remarkable piece of machine..
Great demo showcase

🔥 Picking up mine soon.
Wish there was a true class for the beginner. My wife just purchased this and told me to go learn it😂😂😂. I must say just sitting in front of it and messing around makes me look awesome to my kids😂😂
Dope vid, thank you! Question: from the sample edit screen, how can I loop individual samples? Or even from the program edit screen?
I would like to see the Akai Advance M series . . . The MPC Key 61 it's nice but I can't use it with VIP.
I would like to see VIP upgrade for VST 3s.
Look out for the MPC Live 3 next! It will have speakers bars on the left and right side of it and where the speaker is currently on the live 2, will be the 25 Keys!!! Its going to be the ultimate portable workstation ever created!!!
wow you make me wanna wait then...
With build in batteries and the Song arranger from the Force. Dream
OMFG IM SO HYPED UP FOR THE LOOKS (i dont wanna buy it i alr have a mini 3)
Hey AKAI, how about adding another screen or two like this on the side and moving transport controls under them, or just having a touchscreen that is half the keyboard? You can have menu/shortcuts on one screen and maybe sequencer or track view on the other… Then implement a variant of Bitwig/Abletons workflow, which is ideal. Looks like the presenter is struggling with the small touch buttons here as well. That, with added ability of importing 3rd party self-contained vst3 plugins and/or Decent Sampler/ libraries and you will have this machine in every studio around the world.
Make a 49 keyboard please. And will this work with any DAW???
Awesome
I have my Key 61 since today. A great Maschine ! But i miss the Step Sequencer from the Live 2. I like it when i See the Pads glowing an set the Steps. AKAI - can u patch it in ?

Ingenious……🙏🏽
Curious of the MPC Key 61 has any stock factory drum midi patterns/grooves that already come installed? Or can you only play on the pads & create your own grooves?
And then if you want pre-made grooves you'd have to go download a drum midi pattern pack?
Is there anyway you can use a footswitch for the start/stop on the MPC key 61? And if so where are the settings?
such an amazing keyboard pls help me to get it pls🙏🙏🙏
can we have theses sounds for MPCX?
Yes! The X is a Dream with 2.11.6 and all the New plugins 🔥🔥🔥👑

I need to know!
Being that this is a Workstation and with Akai promoting how Producers/ Beatmakers/ Musicians are moving more and more away from DAWs, how (if any), are the Mastering affects? What is Mastering like on the Akai MPC Key 61 with Vocals and Tracks? =)
He dude, we have over 100 + Studio FX for Air along with Vocal tuning and Harmony FX.

20!! yikes- the 60 too?
@@damienthomas6404 most got flipped.
another MPC series product with the crippled arranger..... why do you shy potential customers away if you could simply take what you already have from the FORCE?
I thought all MPCs were supposed to get the Force arranger eventually. It's just a software change.
@@s.gharavi1614 i doubt it. especially since the release of the MPC Key. They would have had the best opportunity to incorporate the proper version of the arranger, if they had the intention to do so right now. I assume it's more likely an artificial way to differentiate the AKAI Force from the MPC line of products.
I am a piano & keyboard player. Last few days I am watching all the videos of this new Akai keyboard. It’s so impressive, sounds really great but only thing is dose it have layer patches like a Korg/Yamaha/Roland? One more question is good to perform live only using the febrix sounds? If it’s yes then smooth transaction is very important for a keyboard player I hope this keyboard covers all this futures. Last question can I sample the sounds and what also portamento is very important. I don’t see any videos related to my requirements. It would be great if will get answers of my questions. Thank you! 🙏
You can layer presets easily. Go to Key Ranges in the Sounds Menu. Hold down shift and select the record enable (red circle) of all the tracks you want to layer.
Really would have thrown this product over the top if you could have played individual chopped samples and drums on the keys instead of depending on the pads. I understand it's an mpc but some of us midi keyboards to play the samples that are on the pads
You can. The whole reason I use the pads is because most keyboards don’t have pro or useable pads. Whatever is assigned to the pads can be triggered via the keys. :-)
@akaiprovideo are you able to make it to where the KEYS are locked into scales & keys using the progressions?! Also can you make it so when we upload midi data we don’t have to start a whole new sequence thanks
If that's not already a feature of the keys, it undoubtedly will be soon.
The pianoforte keyboard is a chromatic progression already that would make no sense for it to play differently than it is. If you want Morphing Physical parameter progressions get the Akai force
I wishhhhh.
Just an update it has exactly what I asked. There’s a button called keyboard control that does what I said in case anyone was wondering
@@phrhx is the feature only on the Key61 or is it in the 2.11 update ?
Now that I see what The MPC Key 61 could do...I'm impressed. Native Instruments is in TROUBLE... I bought VIP, Advance 61 Keyboard. This MPC Key 61 is totally different, no similarities ... I have to now figure out what I'm going to do with the Advance 61, and VIP...I no longer need it.
As an NI user (Maschine+, KKS49 MK2, and Maschine Jam), I 100% agree. I will be getting this keyboard.
As an MPC X user that's interesting to hear. What do you think are the advantages of the MPC Key 61 that you don't get on the Advance 61?
Also, I thought the Ni library was Waaaaayyyy better, no?
@@s.gharavi1614 the Ni library is better. But this piano 🎹 is cool
@@s.gharavi1614 The NI library is better, but in standalone, MPC is #1.
@@yenthesage2717 What could be ways to use NI library with this MPC?
MPC KEY49 LIVE, make it a thing. Portable with battery and built in speakers
Drum track isn’t on the keyboard??? Or you have to use a computer
Im on the fence with buying this. I have yet to see anyone sample, for example, say 1 or 2 seconds of a piano or bass from a record. And then assign it to the keys, rather than the pads. So you can have the full range of notes from the record sample. Not from the sound kits that are included. Do you know if this is possible on this machine?
Another way to explain it is, can you create chord progressions out of a one or two second sample from a record and assign it to the keys so you get ALL the semitones, so you are not limited to only the notes on the pads and unable to play harmonically with melodies. Its nice to have all the sound kits and libraries, but I want to have the option to find my own sounds and play them.
Can you add an extra internal SSD like you can on the mpc live 2 for example?
Yes
@@AndyMacMPCclub I will be purchasing this just because of the way explained it. Thank you.
Can you record audio into the keyboard?
How to arrange it to a full beat
great keyboard
This keyboard needs an arranger (and the mpc) I just don’t understand why it don’t has that. This will make it a all in one unit. Especially for arranging audio. If you record vocals wouldn’t it make sense to have an arranger so you can edit easily? This must be in the next update.
Its not DAW per se bro, its a creative sequencer. Just multitrack your production and edit in your software of choice, like proffesionals do
@@miriamatembe2261 it’s a “workstation” and the I believe the objective of mpc product range is to create a standalone device that one can make a complete record with from start to end. They added vocal suites to aid modern vocal recording needs and a plethora of effects and virtual instruments to phase the need of external sound modules why skip the last leg and not have the correct means to arrange all that hard work? Instead the user is now exporting and moving project to DAW for vocal recording and mixing/mastering. So in essence your not truly able to use this unit to its full capability because of limitations that can easily be worked out by adding a simple arrange screen. The arranger doesn’t have to phase out the sequencer but rather work along side it, please refer to the akai force for an example, it’s not like mpc doesn’t already have this implemented. Mpc is a powerful sequencer, I agree but they have explored a new angle by introducing the live, X and force range. It’s no longer the mpc60 days so let’s modernise and replace the redundant “song mode” with a useable arranger! Professionalism and creativity don’t always go hand in hand I just want my mpc to get me as close to the finish line before I have to consider exporting for higher processing that can not be achieved because of physical limitations for example sample rates and using more power hungry processing options.
@@JMPMusicOffical very well said bro 👏 I totally agree with you...We need this machine to help us get closer to the finish line in a way that is not so cumbersome
@@miriamatembe2261 its not even a creative sequencer - these days I don't accept any sequencer that doesn't have a "clip-launch mode like Ableton, Bigwig or event Logic have now as being "creative"
But I agree about arranger functionality. If thats to be in there we need a chord track too. So many so-called creative beat making apps and tools have - for example some kind of "conform to scale" function where you select a particular mode and whatever you play fits to that mode. But who wants to listen to stuff in just one key or mode for 2 minutes? Oh I forgot... most of todays pop-generation... I stand corrected... ( Someone bring back Cole Porter for heavens sake! )
@@miriamatembe2261 better workflow actually.
Hallo the percusión drum set have Latin drums ? Congas, bongoes , shakers, cowbell etc .?
Fabulous demo! Have a question though- How do I create a full song from this idea? For sure I need to have more than 8 tracks on it, for sure I would need to mix track separately- for ex. my kick separate from snare- How does one go about doing that?
Normally you make different sequence loops with different variations of these loops (as to add diversity) and put them together in a track mode. So for instance you would make a sequence for the intro separate from the breaks/hooks/solos/etc, THEN take each section of loop and put them together via the sequencer. What he did in this instance was just create an over saturated loop with each instrument on its own mixer track that you can mute or solo at your discretion.
Map out different sequences (copy original sequence 1 to sequence 2, 3 etc) and make your verses, hook, bridge, intro, etc. then go into song mode and insert the sequences to the left side and create your full song. You can then convert that full song into a sequence in that same page. Go back to main screen and scroll to that new song sequence. You can also export your song to a mp3 or individual wav files in song mode.
Export lol
I don't understand how. Record. Work. This means. Record to. Keyboard or. P.c. Thank you

Just amazing….so amazing that I recently purchased a Roland Fantom, waiting 2 years to get my hands on one and then as soon it arrived the Akai MPC Key 61 was announced 🫤. MPC 61 key is not for gigging at all.... and not for everyone for sure..
has few bugs but very annoying at the same time....
Montag /Modx are superior in many ways....
You have to learn properly how to use Yamaha Synths work flow... and then you see how easy and innovative their work flow are....aside from having high quality sounds and drumkits.. etc...
Roland fantom (2019) or Fantom - O are great too...
Kronos 2 is another great choice....
MPC ecosystem is mostly for studios and extremely sample based oriented...
Don't fall for that big screen and the UI which is not user friendly AT ALL

I actually record with an OP and for what it does it sounds wayyyyy better than anything I can come up with on my MPC X. And I have an enormous library.
But I'd never choose an OP over the X because I produce with it. And the OP is very limited in comparison.
But I agree with you, the price point is crazy. It makes me want to sell my X and get the Keys!
I don't understand the point of this, you could just use MPC beats and a midi keyboard and do all the same stuff. It's kind of BS that they put 4 gigs of ram in this thing and only put two in the MPC live 2, considering it's way better than this keyboard because you can actually take it places and not be confined to having to plug it in or use it in a studio. I feel like this keyboard is just going to piss off MPC users it's kind of a stab to the back by putting out the MPC live 2 with only two gigs of RAM and glitches because its slow then build this thing that can't go anywhere and give it two more gigs of RAM. I mean it don't even have an internal hard drive or a battery and why is there so much extra space on this thing that they could have done stuff with. Why would they not put speakers on both sides where it's completely blank and then just move the left buttons over to the middle that's a huge bomb if you ask me. Only thing it looks like it's different on this compared to the live too is it has some XLR ports on the back meh. I wouldn't buy this. Its not stand alone unless you can unplug it and use it wirelessly. What's the point in having the touch screen computer on it if you can just use your laptop since it's sitting right there anyway? This thing literally makes no sense. Why is there three pitch bends on it nobody even barely uses pitch bend.
Nice trolling lol
First, this is new, so it's got some improvements, like the RAM. The X is $600 more than this and only had 2GB of RAM.
Second, this isn't for a Live 2 user that's why you can't make sense out of it. It's for people that want something closer to a traditional workstation, but still on the MPC platform.
Third, many musicians and composers don't want to be locked into a PC. That's why we choose the MPC over other platforms like Ni.
