Looks a great product. Chewing the fat with you on this one, do you think the alpha for the Fanatec dashboard and mobile app is a prelude to a similar product or are they just testing for the Bentley wheel?
Moza has yet to be proven. There’s a reason you see a lot of moza based on the buy/sell groups. People who use them really aren’t impressed. Just tried one and I’ll stick with other brands.
How is it possible MOZA can release a whole ecosystem of simracing gear in just 9 months, including 4 dd wheelbases, 4 steering wheels and 3 pedal sets, while we still waiting for Trustmaster's first dd wheelbase?
and here comes logitech... hoping thrustmaster is planning something behind closed doors and that they'll come out with the big guns soon as well as competitive prices for us
Believe or not, china has really fast prototype their product than west manufacture. Example like Audiophile hobbies, almost entire range fullfilled by chinese brand compete with other brand
Another thing to bare in mind, fanatec would want demand to be high, so slowing down production keeps demand high and prices high, I think they like everyone else didn't expect for someone like moza to come so far so fast and be a direct competitor for them. I think fanatec all of a sudden will up production and prices will likely drop a bit aswell
I gambled a bit on MOZA being newer to the sim racing community, i decided to build my setup around MOZA and honestly I couldn’t be happier, super stoked for this steering wheel because the down side of MOZA only their wheels work with the base. So great to see them adding to the lineup
My Cube Control wheel works on my R9. Yes, only Moza wireless wheels work with the base. But any plain wheel rim or USB wheel works with Moza bases as long as it has a QR that fits the hub.
This is a common misconception regarding the Moza ecosystem. They need to clear it up a whole lot more the more popular they become. ANY USB wheel rim can connect to a Moza wheelbase with the NRG style quick connect, it just won't interface with the wheelbase via the bluetooth/software system. All you need is a USB rim (even a DIY Arudino build will work) and it'll run on the Moza wheelbase.
@@tarushdei I went with MOZA with the understanding I could really only use MOZA wheels so, great information that definitely opens up tons of other options, and makes me feel even better about my choice. Thanks!

Love what Moza are doing and with the release of their R5 bundle I’m sure companies like Thrustmaster are quietly trembling. While the Moza bases are extremely good value, I feel their wheels for the most part are too expensive and their needs to be more budget variations available. Their R9 is $699 AUD while the GS wheel is $799. If they had a $300 open wheel then you could get a R9 combo for $1000. This is the only thing stopping me at this point from selling all my Thrustmaster kit and moving over. I have a heavily customized TM open wheel so am waiting on their DD release to make my final decision. I’d love if TM could bring out a R9 and R16 counterpart as I could buy the base on its own and have a decent set up. If Moza had a GT wheel that was around half the price of the GS, I’d already be driving one.

If you buy brake pads for yo-yos you can use them as rubber dampers for these wheels. I bought a pack of like 20 for 5$ and put a pair on my GS wheel the sound is significantly reduced and it has a shorter travel and less resistance. Just throwing that out there since the rubber dampers the wheel comes with are very small and don’t stick very well.

Awesome looking piece of kit. If they can make the improvements that you mentioned then they could be building the foundations to a really great ecosystem. Thanks for another in-depth, informative video mate.
It´s been almost a year since this great review came out. How about revisiting this wheel to see if Moza fixed / improved the things you found that needed iomprovement? I have a Fanatec Podium F1 which I am thinking about replacing especially since Fanatec is in trouble and this Moza offering looks like a nice step up. Thanks!
Moza is catching fanatec really fast, and they don't have the fan base yet but their gear that's available almost seems better, especially since it's price is lower than fanatec, with the same quality. makes me almost regret my fanatec purchase a few months ago
When buying Moza you have to calculate import taxes and insane shipping prices (for some countries at least). I am waiting for fanatec to come in stock, so I checked out Moza to see if I should buy from them instead. 204€ for shipping + 25% VAT + 12% import tax + 20€ fee. This turns my 1000€ purchase into a 1705€ purchase. I'll wait for Fanatec then. A 1000€ purchase these will only cost me 30€ shipping. I can get Moza at local resellers though, but no stock and prices are not really better. So for us EU customers Fanatec is actually cheaper. No hidden costs.
The price is a bit high I think, it uses the same quality screen as the $35 VoCore 4.3" LCD you can add to any rig. I don't like that the display does not have SimHub support, the analog sticks to the left and right by your thumbs don't seem that useful to me. You need to buy a mount accessory to attach it to a non-Moza wheel, so add likely $50 there at $700. For that total price you could get a CSL DD base with a McLaren GT3 V2 and SimMakerZ carbon fiber paddle shifters, which will retain the analog clutch, and likely if you live in North America the shipping will be $50 just for the Moza wheel. Hopefully more players will enter the market to compete for better wheels that aren't so pricey, which like what happened last year with DD wheel bases.
I used to be very pro-fanatec but recently with how they are treating people who have supported them, and shown no real support for the quality of their shitty made products...so it's great to see Moza pushing - I just hope they care about their community better than Fanatec.
im amazed that not more companys has put a screen on the wheel. The added hardware cost is around $35 including a microcontroller fast enough to be able to play DOOM for example, and you also get wifi / bt builtin so you can send telemetry to the wheel without problems.
Great review as always! Between this and the new simagic FX pro so many wheels to check out! (Although lack of compatibility with the simagic has me leaning more towards this)
Really digging this wheel, looking at buying the R9 with the oval rim. Seems like a great deal and I really want this wheel too haha. For some reason, if I add this wheel to the R9 + CS steering wheel in my cart, they want $160 just to ship the formula style rim.. Hopefully it's an error because this wheel looks way too nice not to have in my line up.
I'm low level impressed. I looked at the price and it's about £700. It's peaked my interest. I was ready to bail after the price as wheels of this style can cost a lot more.
This wheel my mate got with this MOZA base, and its been giving him quite the issue with disconnecting from the Moza base. Why even have a Bluetooth module in a wheel to connect to the base. When its literally already connected to the base via pins. Makes no sense. And look at the headache people are experiencing with that wheel now.
hey mate im pretty sure you used to work at gosford classic car museum and you interviewed me back in 2016. I dont know if i correct but you sound the same and look identical!
There has to be a reason as to what and why Fanatec has not released a new wheel rim such as this or their QR2 or anything really for that matter (no podium pedals, no Bentley rim, etc.), something just seems off... This is going to eventually cut into their sales in a big way. I am a big fan and user of Fanatec but come on guys
i have this wheel but wished all the knobs below the screen were backlit, didn’t even checked when i bought it and i only hop on the rig at night. so many times down the main straight i searching for the TC and ABS knobs and accidentally changing the wrong settings
Hey Will, good review as always. Can you get your hands on a Simagic alpha mini? Would love to see the battle of the mainstream DD base/wheels. Alpha Mini vs Moza R9 vs CLS DD/GT Pro 8NM.
@@boostedmedia it is Moza then! 😁; my apologies if it is something you don't want to answer, but is that experience based on product quality or dubious business practices (like wanting editorial control, etc) or they simply not wanting to deal with you for some odd reason.
This might be something for me in the future, the brand Moza with their bundles. Could be a good step up for me from my G920. Fanatecs are too expensive and always sold out
I just checked and there is no FFB functionality on the LED screen, so you can't make FFB adjustments on the fly, which you can on Simagic's new FX Pro and Fanatec rims. No FFB adjustment on screen, no buy.
For someone who will race in vr, the screen isn't needed for me but I really prefer those leather grips, I just wished moza would release a GS wheel leather grips version like you have many different versions with the Rs wheel

Hi will, can you please let me know if the dash works with assetto corsa please as ive just bought the fsr rim. Thanks in advance matey... another informative vid by the way good work.
When you need to use the analogue paddles as throttle and brake that 10mm throw is just not enough. Shame, I was very almost tempted to take a punt on one of these.
I’m primarily a PS5 player, and I’m thinking about getting a rig with this wheel. Is this where compatible with PS5 or does it depend specifically on the base?
Good that there is competition for the Fanatec products in the affordable price range, and it shows that Fanatec is dropping the quality ball a bit. Random scratchy feeling of the CSL DD, random loss of FFB and an unacceptable metal quick release and an even more unacceptable plastic QR are things that directly affect your driving experience. I still love my CSL DD, when it works properly, and I even can forgive it the occasional snap of the QR during racing, but it should not be, and the next simracing product I buy won't be Fanatec because of it. As long as there are alternatives in my price range that is, and it looks like there are and there will be more. :-)
Same here. Bought a DD1 which lasted 2 years with probably only 2 hundred hours on it before it just completely failed. Thing is, I kind of expected it. The failure rate seems high for the price and beta testing the latest software is too risky. I got a replacement but I'm not sure if i'll stick with them WHEN the next failure happens unless they bring something great to the wheel line-up.
Correct. You’ll need a Fanatec hub and QR (or an emulator) to enable FFB on the Fanatec base. And the wheel will need to be connected via USB to the PC directly.
Agreed. So much so I specifically Asked if it’s on the cards. They wise they will be adding lots more dashes but no plans to allow 3rd party access or customisation at present.
Does your discount codes only work for so long? Looking into making a purchase and it does not accept "BOOSTED", love your videos and would like to make sure they know who sent me! HAHA

Hopefully more players will enter the market to compete for better wheels that aren't so pricey, which like what happened last year with DD wheel bases.
USB compatible?!? That's a very nice feature as a Simucube 2 user. I'll consider this wheel for sure.
Loving the pit garage look your going for !! Can’t wait to see that pc boot up ! 👏
Eagerly waiting for the Gomez Wheel Review 🤟
I used to be very pro-fanatec but recently with how they are treating people who have supported them, and shown no real support for the quality of their shitty made products...so it's great to see Moza pushing - I just hope they care about their community better than Fanatec.
im amazed that not more companys has put a screen on the wheel. The added hardware cost is around $35 including a microcontroller fast enough to be able to play DOOM for example, and you also get wifi / bt builtin so you can send telemetry to the wheel without problems.
Great review as always! Between this and the new simagic FX pro so many wheels to check out! (Although lack of compatibility with the simagic has me leaning more towards this)
What compatibility are you referring too.
Both can only be used on pc.
@@markandrews8835 between wheel bases, it's not clear whether the simagic can be connected via USB to PC atm
@@kerosinecircus263 the simagic wheel base connects via usb to pc.
Do you mean the fx-pro direct to pc via usb.
@@markandrews8835 apologies I mean using simagic FX pro on a non simagic wheelbase.
Yer I am in two minds about these screens they look cool but it could be distracting. Plus all the info is already available on the main screen.
I always love your reviews on Sim gear. Are you going to be getting the Fanatec BMW M4 GT3 wheel in for a review when it is available?
Anyone else feel Fanatec released the CSL DD only because Moza and Simagic came on the scene?? They have nothing left to compete!
Moza needs to work together with console manufacturers, especially Sony. Gran turismo 7 would be great with this. They allready support fanatec.
Your code doesn't work on the Moza site, has it changed?
I'm so glad fanatec is getting some competition
wait so they are making an adapter for the moza wheel to work w fanatec???
It's having a disccount on their official Taobao shop, I just got it at around 490 usd and it just arrived at my door, will try it out after work
Really digging this wheel, looking at buying the R9 with the oval rim. Seems like a great deal and I really want this wheel too haha. For some reason, if I add this wheel to the R9 + CS steering wheel in my cart, they want $160 just to ship the formula style rim.. Hopefully it's an error because this wheel looks way too nice not to have in my line up.
A universal hub ($49) is now available for this wheel to use for any third party wheelbase.
Fanatec needs to make a proper formula wheel thats affordable and has a screen like the sf1000 thrustmaster wheel
I'm low level impressed. I looked at the price and it's about £700. It's peaked my interest. I was ready to bail after the price as wheels of this style can cost a lot more.
It is £579, VAT included, if you buy it from Abruzzi.
All eyes on Fanatec now…
I will be highly considering the Moza Racing Wheel but an extra $260 to ship to Australia is a bit steep
It's a shame there is no xbox and ps5 support with this set up looks great 👍 great review as usual 👍
Haha yep that would have been me :)
Thanks for the review. Are they using genuine leather or vinyl?
MOZA the best for this price!
Component shortages.
Hey fellow Fanatec user and I believe they are busy with quality control with the budget CSL line of products.
While Fanatec remains in this "component shortages" speech, Moza continues to produce and launch new products.
i have this wheel but wished all the knobs below the screen were backlit, didn’t even checked when i bought it and i only hop on the rig at night. so many times down the main straight i searching for the TC and ABS knobs and accidentally changing the wrong settings
Should make a adapter to reuse old phones as a display. Clip it in plug it in and drive. Is that not similar hardware on the board to the old I-phone?
Thoughts on the FSR vs simagic Neo for F1 racing? Worth the extra cash?
Does the screen on the steering wheel show the same info as the Moza CM HD Racing Dash?
Hey and thanks for the Video .. work's the FSR Wheel on the R5 Wheelbase from Moza too ?
Hey Will, good review as always. Can you get your hands on a Simagic alpha mini? Would love to see the battle of the mainstream DD base/wheels. Alpha Mini vs Moza R9 vs CLS DD/GT Pro 8NM.
No sorry. We don’t cover Simagic here after past experiences dealing with them.
@@boostedmedia it is Moza then! 😁; my apologies if it is something you don't want to answer, but is that experience based on product quality or dubious business practices (like wanting editorial control, etc) or they simply not wanting to deal with you for some odd reason.
thats awesome men. also going for a upcoming upgrade, sth else?
Will "Big Hands" Ford is at the town 😱
😅
Whoa that wheel 😍🤩😳
This might be something for me in the future, the brand Moza with their bundles. Could be a good step up for me from my G920. Fanatecs are too expensive and always sold out
I just checked and there is no FFB functionality on the LED screen, so you can't make FFB adjustments on the fly, which you can on Simagic's new FX Pro and Fanatec rims. No FFB adjustment on screen, no buy.
Hi. Great video. Can you use the wheel with a Simucube 2 pro very easy with an adapter etc or is not compatible? Thanks
For someone who will race in vr, the screen isn't needed for me but I really prefer those leather grips, I just wished moza would release a GS wheel leather grips version like you have many different versions with the Rs wheel
Check out a company called Pineapple Grips ;)
@@boostedmedia I will watch some reviews, i just visited the website and looks awesome, thanks for the tip and the impact on the sim racing community, love from Portugal.
Fanatec doesn't rlly need a response...podium is still so crisp and whats the chance u can look at ur mini screen if ur tryna grind down 0.002 seconds
Moza-name says it all! Prava džiba
Have you seen the ACC integration with the SF1000. They amount of information it displays on the screen is amazing
Unfortunately not. The product was in its infancy when we did the review a year or so ago and we only had it on loan. I need to get my hands on or again to see how it’s evolved since.
Any news of updates on the screen??? Has it get better after updates???
Hi will, can you please let me know if the dash works with assetto corsa please as ive just bought the fsr rim. Thanks in advance matey... another informative vid by the way good work.
now we just need an f1 wheel for $250 from moza.
When you need to use the analogue paddles as throttle and brake that 10mm throw is just not enough. Shame, I was very almost tempted to take a punt on one of these.
I think it would be enough for me but yeah, may not suit everyone. Other options have significantly more throw.
I’m primarily a PS5 player, and I’m thinking about getting a rig with this wheel. Is this where compatible with PS5 or does it depend specifically on the base?
I ordered an sf1000 and I don't regret it
Well, you should.
Meanwhile fanatec are still trying to figure out a quick release design that works.....
So you can use the moza fsr wheel on an fanatec wheelbase. But do you need to install an quickrelease of fanatec?
Correct. You’ll need a Fanatec hub and QR (or an emulator) to enable FFB on the Fanatec base. And the wheel will need to be connected via USB to the PC directly.
Would like to get this for my simagic wheel base. But unsure if i should purchase the 50 or 70mm hub. Do you know?
Waiting for the cross platform support to switch over.
Moza is moving so much faster than Simagic!
Can you adjust the dual-clutch bite point on the fly in-game like the Fanatec wheels, or is it just the slider in the software to adjust?
The lack of Simhub support is a big let down imo.
Agreed. So much so I specifically
Asked if it’s on the cards. They wise they will be adding lots more dashes but no plans to allow 3rd party access or customisation at present.
No drink button?
You will not have the drink.
I put it on my hit list! That’s mean that itch mines 😂😂😂😂… time to retire my g29😂😂😂😂😂😂.
Code Boosted does not appear to work anymore... curious if there is a new code?
More than custom, I want that screen to match whatever the game car is showing. Gt3 looks like gt3, f1 is f1
Anyone know if display is covered by glass, or scuffable plastic ?
I'm guessing it's LCD and not Oled.
Does your discount codes only work for so long? Looking into making a purchase and it does not accept "BOOSTED", love your videos and would like to make sure they know who sent me! HAHA
All MOZA need to do now is bring this on wheel hub on Consoles xboxseriesX & Ps5.
Without simhub support for the display its a no go for me :( otherwise it would have been a nearly perfect wheel.
