Great work on this video Wallie. I could listen to that nostalgic 1974 Kmart radio all night. It makes me sad to see this and all Kmarts closing. I know it’s especially tough for you to see this one go. I wish I could go back and savor being in these stores, great memories. On a brighter note, enjoyed your video, while the Steelers/Panthers game was on in the background. Your Steelers put it them for sure! Stay awesome Wallie.
I'm 56 years old. I remember going into this KMart when I was maybe 3 or 4 years old with my parents when we lived in Oakland. When we moved to the south hills, we started to shop at the Moon Township KMart. My parents were so happy when the Bridgeville KMart opened in the summer of 1975. What a shame. It's hard to believe such a great and strong business has ended up this way.
They are closing a Kmart here in Kansas that is about the same age as the Shaler Kmart. I was just in Shaler twp Pa in August tonvisit my aunt. Thanks for posting WallieB26. GREETINGS FROM THE SUNFLOWER STATE KANSAS!
So sad! I went there as a child, and with my husband and children. Seems this store would always be there. This is a really great video of this kmart, somethingg we can remember by.☺
Here in Chattanooga Tennessee ALL the K marts are now gone...i was also shocked to find out the 2 in Dalton Georgia (Near here) are also gone too....Thanks tor posting this..i did not notice the cafe in the video?
Awe. This is so sad! I hate the fact that these classic stores of our past are closing. Great job as always, Wallie! Also to add, my dad worked in the Sears warehouse in Jacksonville, FL for nine years. 😢
Wallie, I tried to take the "iconic Kmart" sticker off the lawn and garden door in Pleasant Hills that you liked, but it's too old. And our fitting rooms look like that every day now, too....
That's okay. I remember that sticker. I loved it. And that's a shame about the fitting rooms. It's not hard for customers to clean up after themselves. It's a shame.
Another great video. Store looks well maintained, clean and stocked. I was at the East Liverpool store #7209 last week and was it was still well stocked and sadly on the closing list.
Sorry for your loss other Kmart so close to home Kmart's are the best and this indeed is a great video and you really do such fantastic and great video work your TG&Y store friend Brian Williams Guthrie Oklahoma until next time take care stay awesome
How Sad! My childhood Kmart (Oakdale, CA) is still open. (Only big box store in town) The Kmart (Ceres) and Sears (in a mall - Modesto, CA) nearest to me is closing as well they're expected to close in January as well.
Wishing I could wrap my arms around this store and give it a big hug😥. This video is everything I anticipated it to be and much more. Thank you for presenting it to us and for all you do, Wallie.
Even though this store is closing, at least it got to celebrate it's 55th anniversary on Halloween. That's over half a century old when you come to think of it.
Right now it just looks like a fully stocked store open for business-who would know it was in liquidation? One thing I didn't see was sales clerks, damn it where are they when you need them! So sad to see the way management has completely and utterly ruined the Sears/Kmart landscape. Now we just have Wal-mart, and if you don't like what Wal-mart sells that's just too bad! Sears and Kmart are NO more in Canada! Great vlog Wallie:)
First off who are the 21 people who disliked this video. I sensed the sadness in your voice. You have every right to be sad. A classic store going bye bye. I barely go into Wal-Mart any more. If you want to hear me almost break down, check out my final fox valley Sears video towards the end. I can't wait to see more updates on this.
Oh it's a long story about the dislikes. They spiked about 2 weeks ago or so. Every video gets about that many now I think. Inadvertently those who do it actually boost my channel to a bigger audience therefore increasing views, subscribers, and ad revenue. They think it bothers me but it doesn't I just keep chugging along doing my thing and sharing my experiences with you all. Lol 😄😄
I don't know why but the Xmas music seems to fit. I used to com to this location for lunch when I worked on Washington's landing a lot. When the vet was still there I got stopped by the Shaler cops for sticking my arm in the window of my car to pet my dog while my wife was in the store We drove 2 cars and she had the keys to that one.
I was gonna ask about the blue light to see if you could have another one to your collection, but like what you said to another comment before. Although I think the biggest gem you should get is the thank you for shopping BIG Kmart sign.
This video and your series on this KMart have to go viral. I don't understand why 21 people dislike this video! Jerks! I can sense this closing will hit you personally, probably like Moon Township. A touching video and love the use of KMRT Radio Holiday Christmas music here. I played KMart music last year when I was decking out my little tree while Winnie and Tigger ran about and Tigger plotted to knock the tree down. They must have liked the KMRT music. Admit I shed a few tears partly because it's a moving video, partly because of my anger at jackass Fast Eddie and partly I feel bad that thousands of workers at KMart and Sears and other stores have to cancel Christmas and fake holiday spirit (everyone is upset at the landmark Lord and Taylor closing in Manhattan: stores been there over 150 years.) I look forward to the rest of your videos at this KMart, beer and Kleenex at hand for me. I'm a big fat mushy guy, can't help it.
Mark, we both know why I got 21 dislikes. Lol like they think that's going to bother me. Little do they know the extra exposure they give me to a bigger audience and inadvertently boost my channel in an even better way. So who is the joke really on?! 😂😂😂 Anyway, yes, this store closing is definitely going to hit me in the feels as I can remember back to when I was a kid being in this store with my parents. This and the West View one. I'm at least glad I can come here and say goodbye to this place and save the memories of this particular location like I did the Moon Township Kmart... another near and dear location for me. I feel bad for my friends that work or have worked at this store. I have a lot of friends from high school that worked here at one point in time or another so itll be strange to see this empty hole in this shopping center once it closes. I used to come here for K Day when they would release exclusive hot wheels cars as well as getting a much kick higher chance of scoring a Treasure Hunt and Super Treasure Hunt and watching the older guys fight over who got one and who didn't as I usually always got here early enough to secure a box to myself to pick through. LOL fun times.
It’s so sad to see Kmart slowly edging toward death. It was my dad’s favourite store to shop at when we visited our grandparents in Connecticut. We literally would leave the store with so many bags we could barely carry them all to the car. Now it looks like a tired, run down flea market. It’s easy to see that poor management ruined what was once a great store.
Yes it's a little crazy to see all the Kmarts closing I left the comment in your video before I didn't know you get a chance to see it about my Kmart is closing in Rock Hill South Carolina I do work there at the moment hope you get a chance to videotape a Tall store before close have a good one
If you are ever feeling bored we have 3 Kmart's left in the Cleveland area the store in Middleburg heights is closing the store near where I live in seven hills isn't closing yet but the city released the plans for a future Meijer store in it's place and as for the Brunswick Kmart store who knows?
You wonder how these stores stay staffed. I mean if I'm an employee, even a manager, I'm looking for another job pronro and out the door. And this store still looks well srocked.
Cant beleive they are still around up there!! Here in South Tennessee, they are all gone now, many have been remodled into new stores and some are torn down.
Very sad to see yet another Kmart store going under, this store looks like a well maintained and well stocked store. I think some of those they decided to close over the years should have been kept open in favor of a lot of the Sears stores. Kmart could have stood a chance if they had put focus on that brand and remodeled their stores. One of the major issues that always plagued Kmart stores was and is their POS system when you go to check-out, always freezing up you name it. I was always that customer with a cart load of items that caused it to break down with a line behind me as well as that patient, understanding customer. Good times.
sad to see more Kmart's closing. ours closed the beginning of this year. miss shopping there. one thing was funny. the Christmas items was marked down to 70 percent after Christmas. then a couple of days latter after they found out they where going to close the prices was changed to 30 percent off. I thought that was crazy.
Yes! Many other US icons too! Kodak,Polaroid,Zenith,RCA,Plymouth,Mercury... In the end We "Boomers" and "Xers" will only have Coca-Cola and McDonald's left from our childhood that our kids will remember. :(
one of the few kmarts left here started their closing sale last Sunday (Patrick street Charleston wv) . very sad that there were more cars in the lot than i have seen there in a very long time
The round vents. All about the round vents. I used to think there was people up there watching us. I wish our Kmart sold Pirates stuff. I like all the MLB teams.
I went to the Roswell N.M. Kmart last week, it's not going out of business but the atmosphere was still depressing. Eddie Lampert sucks. Sorry about your Kmart.
My heart breaks that all over those people are going to lose their jobs, especially during the part of the year when it’s basically impossible to get a retail job. Kmart should have taken their profits back in the early 2000’s and invested in themselves instead of the black hole that is Sears. These people in major company roles need to take a serious look at the retail history of what happens to the majority of these type of stores when they spend money buying up their competition. It generally doesn’t end well for them.
I find it incredibly disheartening that exactly one year ago, I began my closing Moon Township Kmart series. And now I'm doing it all over again with one of two lifelong Kmarts. God forbid the West View, Pa one gets the axe.

Very well clean store
Almost 56 years, im impressed that a Kmart could be that old!
Kmart was my favorite store

There was a Kmart near my area that closed down like 20 years ago. When the Walmart opened few blocks down the road, many people went overthere.
Never was one to lose my mind over Christmas displays especially in the last 8 years, but I always loved seeing how Kmart decorated for Christmas.
So sad! I went there as a child, and with my husband and children. Seems this store would always be there. This is a really great video of this kmart, somethingg we can remember by.☺

Good buy kamrt nice knowing you
Oh heck no man. When it dropped White Christmas just as you entered the Christmas display
I did that on purpose. Lol
Love the Christmas display it so 😎
They have good quality Christmas decorations
I love the sign where there's just a K for some reason, I really enjoy it

Kmart in New Kensington is closing also
The K-mart from my child hood closed back in April
*Hell Yeah! First! Thank you for showing us this foundation store. Sad to see so many of these stores just disappearing.*
@wallieB26 I like that you're just very real by that I mean you don't hype stuff up etc love the straightforward no nonsense attitude... 😎
Hearing the old jingles while seeing this store die….is tragic actually
Love these Kmart videos around Christmas, sad nostalgia.
Me too..
You should vlog the one going out in Carlisle PA it’s the closest one to me since mine closed.
Kmart and Sears have the best Christmas decor sad to see them go 😭😓

Here in new zealand there is a chain named Farmers. Just got in christmas related stock, trees etc. Already 50% off. Crazy.
Good video 55 year's wow :) Sad it is closing.
Any chance you will be able to make a Lowe’s closing in Shippensburg?
So Sad to see this Kmart go
Wallie, our Kmart in West Mifflin is closing.
KMart is your saving store, Eddie screwed us hard and we are no moooore...
You need a new headlight bulb on the passenger side.
Hey wallie I enjoyed the video stay safe and awesome
Awesome video, love the music and all you have done to make a great presentation! :)
so sad to see that one of the OG kmarts is now falling into the history books. great video

this store looks very clean and well stocked especially when compared to other Sears Holding Stores. Sad to see it go.
It was a very well run store. Only "corporate" killed it.
Closing my local Kmart too.
Yes it's a little crazy to see all the Kmarts closing I left the comment in your video before I didn't know you get a chance to see it about my Kmart is closing in Rock Hill South Carolina I do work there at the moment hope you get a chance to videotape a Tall store before close have a good one
Yea, never been to a Kmart and probably never will
Great video lots of love🧡
Any chance you could visit the Kmart on Tarentum bridge road in new Kensington. I heard it is closing down after the holiday season
Nice video! I miss the Kmart that used to be in my town. It closed back in 2016.
Last night we just went by a big k it was still open
Wow, this Kmart opened when JFK was President (Oct 31, 1963/ 23 days before he died).
I've read that taco bell and pizza hut more of their stores are gonna close up and that's kind of crazy..

Another great one!
Another one in Pittsburgh? I'm surprised, yet glad that none of the Sears/Kmart lists hit the Akron/Canton area.
Jim E didn’t the Sears at Chapel Hill close like a year or two ago?
Yes, but this year none were on the lists. Canton Sears is still going & there are 5 Kmarts staying open within 20 miles from me
Sears outlet is a separate chane from sears holdings so if the main company goes out of business the sears outlet stores are staying open
And the hometown stores in the smaller communities.
Very sad to see yet another Kmart store going under, this store looks like a well maintained and well stocked store. For some reason my Kmart closed in 2003 because of Kmart's bankruptcy
Now my Sears is closing because of Bankruptcy
Kmart was the store to go to at onetime
Just went to the one in West Seneca that's closing... Mark downs aren't good enough yet lol
Oh the sales here are awful too.
sad to see more Kmart's closing. ours closed the beginning of this year. miss shopping there. one thing was funny. the Christmas items was marked down to 70 percent after Christmas. then a couple of days latter after they found out they where going to close the prices was changed to 30 percent off. Yeah, I'm not sure what happened halfway through. It worked when I uploaded it. It could possibly be a copyright thing. Sorry about that.
WallieB26 No need to apologize sir.
I wonder what Christmas was like at kmart back when this store opened. I know kmart sold A lot more back then.
Wallie get big K-Mart sign.is this the last big K-Mart
"Kmart is your high priced store where your dollar buys you less"
more kmart closing wow
fun fact: the highest point in pennsylvania is lower than the lowest point in colorado.
I better hope my kmart near me dont go by by considering its the best one in Missouri according to one of the employees
Was the blue light for sale?
No, they will not sell it. Believe me, I already asked.
Darn
damn bro that sucks
Our sears store in santa rosa California is closing soon
I went to the Roswell N.M. Kmart last week, it's not going out of business but the atmosphere was still depressing. Eddie Lampert sucks. Sorry about your Kmart.
Wow 55 year old kmart and it's closing it doors, such a shame.
lol at 11:50 😆
Even being a foundation store couldn't save it from Fast Eddie's incompetence and greed.
that looks like it was big kmart, it looks bigg

Fundamentally large stores like this are a flawed business model. Hopeless.
