    Svempa used run a tow truck business that grew to be a SCANIA custom build company. He had a race truck in yellow in the 90s that war pretty famous. He had a lowered semi truck and trailer with a police exhibition in it and emergency lights. A lot of cool custom trucks. I used to hang out at his house since I went to school with one of his sons. He is a true legend around here. 😊

      He had a race truck in the 80's: the Yellow Widow. I was at the Truckstar Power Festival in Zandvoort in 1988, where it participated in the races. Not sure if it's the same, but could well be.

    • @driver288

      @@Tiger313NL could be. It was yellow with Svempas in leaf gold in the doors and blue leather seats. He raced it at Mantorp Park in Linkoping back then and after the race drive it home to Stockholm. He used to do burnouts with it on Sveavagen on car meets at times. It could do a little over 215 km/h. It was often parked outside of his home and when he turned 50 it got the vanity plate SVEMPAS as a gift from his family ❤️

    For someone in the know. The Chimera (race truck) runs 6 turbos and they do burnouts with that thing. The red towtruck it the odd looking bed is a stacker. Top bed lifts up to hold one car and opens up the lower bed to hold another and a third behind. and the whole bed tilts up and rolls back on to the ground with both beds.

      @MrJonken70 8 дней назад

      I think You're absolutely right: The truck standards in the US need to change. Just an insane behaviour on US-part -to stand in the way of future progress. All north America and Canada need to think in the longer perspective; on what is the most effective and better future for them. Sure: The US truckbuilders would take a serious hit -by making Euro Trucks available on their markets. But as mentioned: The upside/reward in the long run; would be like boosting efficiency close to a time machine over a few year period. This on all aspects.
      The need to reevaulate is essential; when 25 and 15 year old Euro trucks outperform -everything that is made available on their own markets.
      The day a another brand Truck outperforms a SCANIA Truck: I'd sure would like to have that avalable for my company -as an alternative investment choice.

    You can tell the quality of a truck by the attention to detail and how it does with work over the test of time. Yes every truck will have wear and tear and deteriorate. Certain manufacturers after 12 months of hard work will be falling apart and just rattling. I personally find scanias hold the test of time and generally if there looked after will last 5 years or more before needing any real work

    • @shaggings
      @shaggings 9 дней назад

      If they are uses for work and have over 1 million kms and haul serious weight like up norrh, they are gonna be falling apart in 7 years of use and honestly could use a proper rebuild just to avoid being in the shop every week...speaking from experience. PS. Man I love it when the 16.4 starts pissing coolant out from the head....

After my service i have driven a Mercedes for 5 years and tried all the other brands + Volvo on and off and I must say the only ones i truly miss are the Sisus (SM SR and Polar) and my 144C 530 Scania (4 series 530hp 2001 model). The driver "settings" (seat position,wheel position ,etc) was amazing and the power of the engine and the mapping of the transmission was the best automatic transmission+engine combo i have driven to date. Also the cabin layout of the Scania is my favourite to date. We have a friendly rivarly going on between the finns and the swedes but i heave got to say we both know our trucks better than the rest of the world. While you may think of the 3 axle version as very American, once you go across the border into Norway and during winter, you will get surprised.
    Due to traction issues on the slippery stuff, most of the trucks going further north are 3 axles with drive on the rear.
    The difference is clear every winter when the southern European trucks show up, they tend to get stuck wheelspinning at the mountain crossings, even after chaining up.
    Since the weather changes quickly, it can put you in an icy soup quicker than you realize.

    The red truck is a dual layer tow truck. It can hold two cars. The first one is going on the insert and gets lifted up and then the lower part is used to pickup car two.

    Well Bruce the count down begins to get that Beautiful piece of Swedish engineering back home,
    Now if Bat man had a Scania it would definitely be the Frost Fire Edition with out a doubt the back end is wicked, that truck has been at a few shows in the UK ( I did try and send you a video of it, but alas with no success 😪 ) anyway I see Ville has the silver burn out truck up and running again so great news all-round 👍 Keep up the great videos 👌👌

    Bruce, you should probably ask to get some stuff to show at truckshows together with the R770 to show examples of how Scania trucks can be equipped like cab, axels, different bodies on the back engine options and so on.

    Sooooooo, what's the chances you ever drag a subscriber with ya to the HQ if you go again? Asking for a friend lol.
    But no seriously, first time i heard the name Scania was in the mid 90's. Saw one of the old Mack/Scania trucks and had my mom raise ol dude on the CB so I could talk to him. She drove a Freightliner at the time and yes, i thought her truck was the coolest. Then I started researching the Euro trucks and was hooked. I gotta give my mom props for not only raising me to research whatever I wanted to know, but to teach me how to drive a rig and do what I love.

    Correction, the tow truck is a 6x2-4 because the boogie can steer so it has 2 steering axels one in the front and 1 in the rear, a 6x4 is 1 steer axle and two drive axles

    I used to own several Scanias in Germany, moved to Canada about 1.5 years ago, drove Kenworth and now Freightliner. Other than the sleeper size I miss everything from the Scania. It's really sad how bad american trucks actually are and having no cab air-ride in the front, just bolted to the frame should be illegal. It's beyond me how truck manufacturers here seem to not care about the drivers at all.
    I would love to see Scania in the north american market and I would dream to see a Longline version that is not a show truck so it not only would match but exceed american sleeper sizes. One can only hope and dream.
    Keep up the good work Bruce, I'll follow your journey and maybe if you want we can meet sometime and chat about my experiences and comparisons for trucking and trucks between Europe (or Germany especially) and North America.
