- How to Use Green Screen in iMovie
The green screen in iMovie is one of those things that is not very obvious. You have to set up your timeline correctly before you can see the green screen option.
Simply import a green screen or blue screen clip and add it to your timeline. Add another clip to be used as the background and bring it to the bottom of the clip.
Bring the background-clip to track 1 and bring the green screen clip to track 2.
Now, you’ll get a new option for using the green screen effect on the effects menu bar.
You can use any video, image, or backgrounds that come with iMovie as the background.
Here are the resources I mentioned throughout the video.

Great video! Just one question. Is it possible to select a video as your background instead of a static image of an office, for example?
Good question. I’m pretty sure you can but I’ve never tried it. I know you can in other editing apps I’ve used
Thank you
great video, does this work for a video in outdoor and we want to change background?
Nice vid, thank your for sharing your tips and hacks. Do you know a good site where to get green screen sequences like explosions aso for free?

I have a question is there a way to keep things that are green in the foreground when using green screen?
Sir iMovie is this available in the play store??????
Thank you. I was wondering how to use the green screen without a green curtain in the camera. If use shutter shock to create a green background, I can do it for free. I am planning to use videos of me that I shot & turn the backgrounds green? How can I do that making all parts of the video outside of me all green?
excellent video I subscribe
i cannot drag my video up
Hello. I have a question. I am 100% new to using iMovie. I did a sample video recording of myself - using Qucktime. The only thing behind me is my closest - I do not own a green screen (again, I am completely new to this).
When I inserted one of the stock backgrounds and selected "green screen / blue screen" as the option, nothing happens. I am not seeing the background. I also have the background underneath my sample video clip, just as you do in your tutorial. Do I need to purchase an actual green screen before this option will properly function?
I own a 2019 MacBook Pro - in case that matters - and all of my software is up to date.
what if i use a camera to take a video? can i remove the video background to add another background in
does it work with videos?
It doesnt let me put it under the footage
I'm having trouble adding a transition when using the green screen feature/adding a background. It doesn't allow me to add a transition once the clip is merged with the green screen/background. Any advice?
I’s this only be able to
Be done on the laptop?
how can you move the person to the corner of the green screen
How do I move it
Very good but I get the green screen flickering thru my hair and sometime outlining around my ears
Why dont i have those features? I have i movies
So how to use a background using your own video library without a green background? I'm confused.
can the background be a video?
but what if your background is the original video
2:36 what you need
Thanks man 🙏
I appreciate you ❤
