Hey, I just wanted to take a minute to let you know how amazing you are! I had ZERO skills in editing, which kept me from posting all of my video ideas, because they always looked like a Neanderthal did them. I have improved to the point I am no longer embarrassed by my videos. Do I still need to improve? Heck yes! But I no longer suck. Your tips are amazing, simple, and they have all worked for me. Sadly, I am not making money, yet, but when I do I will be happy to give you a $super sticker or two to three.❤

Wow! I have quite a need for something like this, but I hadn't pursued it because I didn't know how to 'clean up' the green screen. I'd seen the other recent video about pre-rendering and comprehend its very efficacious use case. Thank you so much! I will use this as a teaching/training method and model to emphasize important points. I'm grateful for your help.

This method reminds me of stories about making complex musical albums (e.g. the Beatles 'revolver' and 'sg pepper's') using only four-track equipment. They would record an overlay, then "mix it down" to one track to free up the other 3 tracks, then repeat over and over. Some of the songs had 20-30 "layers" of sound but all done on four-track tape.

Good way to get around that iMovie limitation. Something I'm finding very useful for this sort of thing is using Keynote to record the voiceover video. I use a green background and make my video whatever size and position on it I want and set Keynote to remove background on it. Then I record my voiceover both video and audio and export it as a movie. I'm now using Final Cut but this would work for iMovie as well.

this is my issue... My green screen photo, it is a baby doll, it will flying be over the city, the doll photo is too big, it takes up the whole screen. How can I make the photo smaller? I used PREVIEW to make the photo smaller but it did not change the size when I used it again in iMovie. Thanks...hope I explained that right.

You can create your own backgrounds in any image editing software and drag and drop them into iMovie as a .png or .jpg.

I have been an enthusiastic and satisfied iMovie user for many years. With my Panasonic HC-X 920 camcorder I can make travel reports that fully meet my expectations. (RUclips: jandewitamateur film). That camera is now more than ten years old, so it's time for something new. I thought anyway. Last week I bought the Panasonic HC-X 1500, a camera that completely met my needs. To my amazement, iMovie didn't support that camera, and my amazement was compounded when I couldn't find any more recent (!!) in the list of camcorders supported by iMovie. I have returned my HC-X 1500 and now I don't know what to do next. In the better camcorders, iMovie only supports the five-year-old (but still available) Sony FDR-AX700 4K. Thank you Apple for letting your users down like this.
