It would be so great if Schrodinger (or anyone) *actually did* do that cat experiment! Alas, no one has stepped up to the plate. Great content as always, Mr. P I find that this seems similar to 'sequential discovery' boxes, generally very complicated (and expensive) boxes a la Strijbos's Angel Box (in my opinion the finest example of SD boxes) or Lotus Box... Stickman also has a few SD chests as well... These are my favorite type of puzzlebox; alas, most are out of my reach. Very limited editions, and as said before, expensive. Because, technically, it isn't an experiment. Schrodinger coined the "experiment" to show the absurdity of the the Copenhagen interpretation, which states that quantum particles are in a super imposed state until we view them, then they settle into 1 of the states. Schrodinger that this was silly, and wanted to create a thought experiment to show it. So like the quantum particle, the cat inside the box is both alive and dead, or some mixture of both, and that state changes when we check after an hour. Either the atom has decade, setting off the hammer that breaks the acid and kills the cat, or the cat is alive, after you have waited an hour. But there's the fact that the cat isn't in some type of physical limbo. It is either alive or dead. Observing the cat doesn't make it automatically change into that state. That state already exists before it is observed. The Schrodinger Experiment was created to show that, after Schrodinger talked to Einstein, who also disagreed with the Copenhagen interpretation.
@@matthewstafford7150 Yes of course; it was purely a thought experiment, and it is highly unlikely that a macro scale 'demonstration' of the collapse of a quantum wave function would operate as it would at the quantum scale. If I remember correctly, though, the collapse of a wave function can be (and was) demonstrated by the Delayed Choice Quantum Eraser experiment, a modification of the classic Double Slit Experiment. A possible improvement: a QR-code outside the box starts the timer, the cat's QR-code stops it.
So you open the box and then scan both codes -_-
OK, improvement v.2: scanning the first code you'll get the first clue and you can't open the box without it. :P
