I have this notion that the little plate with the face on it *was* the hedgehog, and the blue thing used to free it was just a tool, a little ruse, a play on one's assumptions. Elegant, in any case :)
I liked that puzzle. It’s not overly complex but it gives you something to work for. So it makes you work for it, but not to the extent that you get frustrated. It fulfills the rewards system in our brains. Quite satisfying. Simple, stylish, good quality, and makes for a fun puzzle for when guests are over.
It’s fascinating. I love the way that the hedgehog is also a key and the way that the upper plate is also both an obstacle and a key. What it reminds me of is a physical manifestation of an escape room or an old fashioned text adventure game
Who else tries to slope their tablet to help Mr PUZZLE? I get so much enjoyment and pleasure watching you solve the puzzles, I wouldn't have any chance solving this puzzle with the arthritis in my fingers. Plus the high price tag would cripple my budget! CONGRATULATION Mr PUZZLE 👍😁👍........next please!
My son just turned 4 years old. He loves watching Mr. Puzzle with me. It’s something the two of us do together. And after Mr. Puzzle he loves to laugh at funny cat videos. Thanks for the great puzzle videos Mr. Puzzle!
When you removed the internal base plate I paused the video and looked to see if there were any pins that would 'key in' to the external base plate to potentially remove it. This was an interesting puzzle where the hedgehog was a tool, to remove a tool, to use as a key to remove the external base plate, then the 'face plate' and finally the hedgehog was free. Nice puzzle.
Cheis Ramsay is not expert in solving. He spends hours with zero ideas and fiddle fiddle fiddle solve. MrPuzzle has the ability to understand the mechanics smartly 😎 Still, both are fun and nice.
@@juanes9569 Yes, I know he solves it anyway, but he starts from cluelessness and is a random action maker. Unlike Mr Puzzle, who have inclinations about a wrong move, and can technically explain every step of the right and wrong move.
As a nurse, I knew immediately the base was a "key" to unscrew the bottom plate. Some of our medications that are oral/needless syringes, come with a "tool" which you use to remove the "cap". The tool is a plastic round "cap" that covers the cap that keeps the liquid in the syringe. The tool has a slit on the square flat end. You put the slit over the flange on the cap and turn to screw the cap open. Same concept.
Mr. Puzzle: "... I think I'll check it [the baseplate] out later, once I get the hedgehog out..." Me: Why not check that baseplate out *now?* (after some more fiddling) Mr. Puzzle: "Ah! I think I have an idea!" But, to be fair, the "sequential discovery" remark you made in the intro was a big hint, and that's probably why I figured out that part quicker than you did.
Forget solving the puzzle, it's very pleasing to the eye and should sit on the display unit at home. I think i would call it "The basis of safe cracking " lol.
It should be noted that the idea of the Hedgehog in the Cage comes from the legendary Czech book by Jaroslav Foglar: The mystery of the puzzle box. Inside the hedgehog there should be the plan for the construction of mechanical flying bike. I agree, this version looks epic.
This puzzle looks cool. And the "hedgehog" is blue, so that's a bonus! (edited comment after actually watching what I previously referenced and found it was too simple)
I really adore these puzzles and the way you try to solve them and the way you talk to us! I love it! I have bought some puzzles in Amsterdam, but can you or some other follower give addresses in Holland where to buy them?
Quite a lot of good quality engineering to make this though to be fair, lots of complicated and different parts and processes involved to construct and finish it. Not to mention the ingenuity in design.
I agree Travis, $200 for something like this is insane, it would easily sell even if it'd cost $500+. It's surprising they didn't go bankrupt yet considering how cheap they're willing to sell things that took many, many days to design and take hours to manufacture >:P
I have two questions. 1. If a hedgehog is polished not by a Polish guy but by a Czech guy, is it still 'polished' or should it be 'czeched'? 2. Can you add some spikes to the titan puzzle, put it in a case like this and make it the Insane Titanic Hedgehog Puzzle?
All you had to do to handle the key was to hold each end of the blue part through opposite slots and lower the key while spiralling downward.. (by rotating the assembly, while lowering the key)
I like the lock part. Am a little disappointed about the twists though, they don't REALLY seem to come into play. At first I thought the slits would widen by turning the key, but obviously they're all welded together. It seems a bit arbitrary how far some can stick their fingers in. Personally, I would have preferred having to manipulate the hedgehog from outside, by sticking him in the correct combination of slits and holding him by the feet from the outside. Perhaps that was the idea? I'm not sure. Some nice surprises in here anyway.

I'm guessing that the bottom opens up to let the hedgehog out. And you open it by manipulating and shifting the pins in the bottom with the hedgehog itself.
I consider this being a real finger breaker! :D
Interesting concept!

There's one thing I don't understand, how do these hedgehogs keep getting trapped?
Usually because a flying fox told them there were gold rings inside.
