I still mark the fuck out every time I see this beautifully written, beautifully shot, beautifully acted scene. It is perfect, and like a perfect old time rasslin' match, it never gets old and never will.
@DragonBat362 I'm talking about mass, not height. Hogan was well over 300 pounds in the 80s and was famous for having some of the most massive arms in the world. Lundgren was a big, athletic dude, but he wasn't freakishly huge and bulky like Hogan was at that time. Most of the reason Ivan Drago looks so huge and terrifying in this movie is because of excellent camerawork.i think most people really have no idea how unnaturally huge some of these WWE wrestlers actually are. Particularly back in those days when steroids weren't banned.
Take me back to the 80s please. Rocky, Aliens, Predator, Terminator, Princess Bride, no cell phones, playing outside, TMNT, HE-MAN, & when life was good.
People who says Hogan never could wrestle.. . it`s the proof that they know shit about wrestling and Hogan´s history. Don`t read those stupid comments... you, me and many people know about Hogan in Japan and his matches where Hulk is like a giant technical wrestler, not only the powerhouse taunting man, that Vince Mc Mahon created and putting a limited moveset for him in the 80`s and 90`s. ( after that also we know Hogan was too beaten and under many surgeries ... )
I saw this film 20 minutes after the last day of school in 1982, on the day it opened. Paulie with the chair was worth the price of admission all by itself.
you gain respect by not just how much of a fight you give, but how much of a beating you can take, Thunderlips instantly respected Rocky after the match.
I always loved the scene, especially when Paulie tries to help Rocky by attacking Thunderlips with a chair. It's touching and freaking hilarious at the same time!

Hulk Hogan was actually fired from the WWF for taking this role by Vince McMahon Sr but brought back after by Vince McMahon Jr who wanted to build the company around him and it's safe to say that payed off very well
They could pull that off because Stallone is so short. Hulk looked like a fucking mountain next to Stallone. They claim Stallone is 5'10" but that's a stretch.

Hulk Hogan, Mr T and Sylvester Stallone all in one film. The 80s was a great time to be a sports fan. Its also awesome that Sly himself inducted Hulk Hogan into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.

I can’t believe this scene. It wasn’t even a real fight, and Mickey was still coaching Rocky like it was a boxing match! Great scene, and great movie overall. My favorite movie in the whole series.
Fun fact: This was based off a real 1976 boxer vs wrestler match featuring Andre the Giant again Chuck Wepner (the inspiration for Rocky). Of course the real match didn't have as much action in it. The most Andre did was a few holds, a headbutt, and a throw Chuck over the ropes.
We had Sylvester Stallone and Hulk Hogan fighting while Mr. T watched. Surely this is the most 80s fight ever.
