    Beautiful performance! I love the slightly faster tempo, along with the phrasing, tone, diction, blend and balance ... and ... everything! Bravo!

    Beautiful sound. I am singing this with my choir , a much much older choir and hopefully once we perform it we can do it half as good as this. Gorgeous.

    This was my favorite in choir as a first soprano. My hubby did this on in madrigals. Sometimes we just burst out into this one.
    And I’m 51. School choir was a long time ago!!

    Great work with these exceptional voices! I'm sincerely grateful you posted this wonderful performance of one of my favorite compositions! Rutter is a without doubt a genius. I know his arrangements are not so easy to execute, so it's very obvious these voices (and ears) were carefully chosen.
    Thank you Gondwana Singers!!

    Blow, blow, thou winter wind,
    Thou art not so unkind
    As man’s ingratitude;
    Thy tooth is not so keen,
    Because thou art not seen,
    Although thy breath be rude.
    Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
    Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
    Then, heigh-ho, the holly!
    This life is most jolly.
    Freeze, freeze, thou bitter sky,
    That dost not bite so nigh
    As benefits forgot:
    Though thou the waters warp,
    Thy sting is not so sharp
    As friend remembered not.
    Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly...

    You are very good and Rutter is very brilliant! My choir sang "Candlelight Carol" during one of our last performances using a new arrangment. Write this down on the research: you will love it for sure!

    Rutter had this amazing ability to write what would otherwise be pretty standard stuff but he layered voicing in a skillful way!

    • @brunodelconte
      @brunodelconte 9 лет назад +10

      Actually it's Heigh ho !. In english this usually rhymes with sleigh or neighbour, and it is the way most choirs sing it ;)

    • @elphabafrost
      @elphabafrost 7 лет назад +4

      Further explanation:
      While it IS now common for "heigh" to be pronounced "hi" (this is how Merriam Webster suggests the word should sound) it was NOT the pronunciation of the word when Shakespeare wrote the original text. (IPA in link below) We should be true to the poet while singing :)

      Jess Think of it in a choral sense, Hey flows much easier and sounds cleaner than Hi.
