YOU ARE A KING!! Wasted 3 hour to get out the spring then I think to go watch some youtube tutorial, and I found your very easy step without any extra tool! Thanks so much! I'm now go back and change the springs in 2 minute. :D
A greeting, my friend, I want to thank you for the technique in this video, I used it in a clutch gy6 150 and I put you springs 1500RPM and served me the technique of the thin screwdriver to fit the new springs, i was very easy, otherwise i was been very difficult, even try with a pair of tweezers and are very hard. :)
90GTVert sorry but what is best, increase or decrease rpm..? I watch a video were someone explained the yellow clutch springs are the stiffest..? I thought was the red..🤔
Thanks for replying 90gtvert . Yes. Tried that. It just makes the tension on the lever tighter or slackens it off. When I can't push the scoot backwards I can push it forwards so I know the brake isn't sticking on. When it's up on the stand I can move the rear wheel forwards (not very smooth though) but I can't rotate the wheel backwards. If it was a car it's like it's stuck in gear. Not sure what else to check...
If you pop the CVT cover off it will be obvious if the clutch has anything to do with this. Normally when you spin the rear wheel only the bell will spin. If the whole rear pulley or both pulleys spin the clutch is engaged when it shouldn't be. Could be a broken spring or something like that. If the pulleys aren't rotating then it's either in your gearbox or you have some kind of clearance issue.
Nice video. Before I start working on my scooter would you think I have a clutch problem. I can't push it backwards when the engine is running or switched off. It's like the back brake is on but I've had the back wheel off and all seems ok there. Seems to move forward ok with or without the engine running. I'm a newbie when it comes to working on these so any help would be appreciated. Thanks from the uk.
No experience with the Zip, but I generally recommend that people get 2-3 sets of springs and try them. Some people have different preferences, and also the clutch doesn't always work the same on every scoot.
They're fine. The way some clutches are made you can't fit them if they were wrong. You can see in the vid the short side wouldn't be able to hook up where the long side goes. Really doesn't matter otherwise.
I would at least clean out the belt dust, take a look at the roller weights, check the condition of the belt, measure the width of the belt and replace if it's 1mm or more under original spec (although quoted as 18mm many really start at about 17.5-17.7mm wide). If you haven't checked the valve lash since the PDI, it's about time to check and adjust if needed. There's a maintenance schedule in the tech library at my site under basic info and guides.
Great video I'm sorry to ask I purchased my son a rxf 50cc dirt bike full automatic. He is getting quite bored of the acceleration. do you have and tips how to modify this type of centrifugal clutch for mini motor thanks.
I'd probably consider a swap in that case. Check out the prices on larger semi-auto or manual transmissions. You can get a 125 fairly cheap, the last time I looked, and that will be a big upgrade in power. The toughest part with swapping auto to manual is figuring out how to actuate the clutch and rear brake, but if there are manual versions of that bike you can probably get whatever parts are needed. If you get a semi-auto, it's got a shifter but no clutch so you don't have to worry about that, but you don't get the same control as the manual and the manual tends to be a bit faster from what I've seen.
Great video. You are the best teacher. I have a question. From the Genuine Roughhouse R50 Sport scooter which is the factory specification of these parts: The weight of the rollers? What is the RPM of the Compression Spring? What is the RPM of the Clutch Spring?
Spring RPM is easy. They would be 0RPM. Aftermarket springs are supposed to be rated by how high the engagement RPM rises beyond stock, so stock would be 0RPM. A quick google search says 7.5-8.5g 16x13 rollers. Can't tell you for sure if that's accurate.
I am over 2000 miles now, and i was wondering what do i need to do at this mileage with my clutch and belt or rollers in my CVT? I mean what is necessary at this mileage? I am not having any problems now, and i have replaced my spark plug, gear oil, and motor oil, both oils have been done on time, and the spark plug was a little white when i replaced it.
Usually more weight and/or increasing friction. It's not common for people to add weight to a clutch though. Is it slipping a lot or you just think it would be better if it locked more abruptly? It is normal for clutches to slip in and a lot of times if the clutch does grab hard the belt will then slip instead.
@@49ccscoot it works as normally or as intented atm, but i would like more grab as soon as i hit the throttle, but i suppose it could be the belt slipping
I can not imagine how you exchange springs from clutch, the springs go already broken before you already installed, only times Tip of me the best you switch as follows Fuse discs / clips from clutch pins remove all 3 clutch pieces evenly from the clutch carrier , After hanging the new springs all 3 couplings on coupling carriers / pins draufziehen so the springs are also not pulled out. ;-)
My scooter's back wheel spins on its own as soon as I start it and the idle screw is on the minimum, when i inspected the cluch I found one of these springs brocken. Could it be the problem? Please answer. And by the way,i love your work man!
The spark plug has to be considered to figure out the compression ratio. If you are interested in all of the details about finding CR, check out this video : ruclips.net/video/87aHTfxatag/видео.html
Can you tell me if the 1000 rpm springs are the same as the stock ones? Iam looking for a little better pick up en more power take off.. Iam using the stock clutch springs now. I dont know if 1000 rpm is just fine or do i need to go for the 1500 rpm ones.
The way that they are supposed to be rated is that a 1000RPM spring will get revs up 1000RPM more than stock. Doesn't always work that way, but that's the idea. I usually buy a set of 1000, 1500 and 2000RPM springs (or soft, medium, stiff) and test them to see what works best. Sometimes springs are too stiff and engagement doesn't happen till the CVT is already shifting and you lose the best takeoff ratio so you can't just put the stiffest in and assume they're best.
do you have any advice about upjetting carbs I have a 21mm carb tnt with 70cc airsal kit, malossi fly clutch, polini varaitor and at top end revs bike back fires and bogs till it's slowed down again
+Luke Sykes Check your plug immediately after it does that and you should know if it's rich or lean. Change jets accordingly. More info : www.49ccscoot.com/faq/carbtune.html
An owner's manual wouldn't show that and some service manuals may not. In stock form many are sealed now so you can't even adjust them without unsealing the carb. There are 2 links below that may be of use. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/429/idle-mixture-adjustment 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/5148/unsealing-carbs-mixture-tamper-screws
I have a 150cc jonway, GY6 engine. I have replaced carb, plug, cdi, plug boot, gas, filter, compression showed I was low, so I adjusted valves to .05 clearance, & replaced fuel lines. It will NOT start unless I spray start fluid in carb, then it idles and runs great. I don't know what else to do.
The springs resist centrifugal force trying to throw the clutch shoes outward where they would mate up with the clutch bell and drive the rear wheel (through the output shaft and gearbox). Stiffer springs require more force (RPM) to overcome so the clutch doesn't engage till later.
I have a yamaha razz 50 cc. How do i check if the clutch and spring are worn out? Also the carb is always dirty in the outside its like its leaking petrol, what should i do?
The most obvious thing is to observe how the scooter takes off from a complete stop. If the rear wheel is always engaged and trying to spin you either have too high of an idle speed or the clutch is not functioning. If it takes essentially no throttle to move, then again it may be that the clutch is engaging too fast from worn springs or elongated spring grooves that create lower tension. If it does the opposite and slips a lot on take off then your clutch bell or shoes may be worn or glazed or the oil used may be wrong for your transmission. Your Razz should have a wet clutch, unlike the CVT driven scoots, so if you go to remove the cover remember that oil will come out and it will need to be replaced. Find a service manual and Yamaha should give some sport of specs to check the clutch by measuring clutch/bell diameters or clearance.
***** the scooter has done more than 37,000kms, and ave only changed the piston and rings. Should i also change the crank shaft, carb, clutch and springs? Also the airfilter is worn out and i need to change it. Anothet qn, how many turns out should i make on the fuel air mix screw?
+EpicScootModz Try all the clutch springs and find out which works best for your application. Watch when the belt starts to move before takeoff. If the belt moves much before the clutch engages, you could miss out on the full advantage of the CVT's "low gear" and may want to use softer springs.

@90GTVert i have the HOCA adjustable clutch for 139qmb. what are the adjustable spring loads for? is it to engage the clutch quicker or does it put more strain on the clutch itself?
