    It’s mid fall for me in California and the lowest temperature at night is about 48-50 degrees. Should I leave my cactus plant outside or put it inside for the night ? Also how often do I water it during spring ?

    • @SucculentsBox

      Most succulent can only endure winter temperature at around 40°F. However, your chubby outdoor greens still need to care properly or else the frost may cause damage to them. My room doesn’t have much sunlight should i place my cactus in the balcony so that it can get direct sunlight? Or is too much sunlight exposure would be harmful for it? I live in egypt and it’s kind of a hot weather spring/summer ahead.. thank you in advance i really appreciate your video and effort

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  3 года назад +2

      Thank you for your kind words, we're glad that you love our video! About your question, we think you should bring your cactus outside since they love the sun. If you still want to keep them indoors, please place this cactus in a spot where it can get as much sunlight exposure it can during the day, especially in areas facing south. Hope this clarifies :D

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  2 года назад

      Yep, then when the dormancy is over, please repot it in a suitable pot with well-drained soil. Please do note that during the winter months, they don't need to be watered as frequently as in the growing season.

    So is it better to use clay pot instead of plastic? And is it okay if the pot is a bit bigger than the cactus? Or should I just use pot that's not really big like in your video?

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  2 года назад +1

      Hi Ceon, both plastic and clay pots have advantages and disadvantages, but clay pots are more versatile, available, affordable, and reusable. Nothing looks more natural and appealing to us than a nicely aged clay pot stocked with a smattering of young plants, both inside and out.
      In general, leave about a half-inch of space between the main body of your cactus and the rim of the pot. This will give the plant enough space to grow and spread. You can check out this link to learn more succulentsbox.com/blogs/blog/choosing-the-right-size-pot-for-your-succulents?_pos=2&_sid=cdcd3f045&_ss=r
      Hope this helps.

    Hi! I recently got a small cactus that looks like (I think) the one in the video. It's literally my first plant and I want to take good care of it. My main issue is with lighting. I have no outside garden or south facing windows. My cactus is near a west facing window, but it's more to the side of the window, not in front of it. However, I do have a balcony, so my strategy atm is to leave my plant in the balcony (like 7 am to 4 pm) and then bring it back inside near the west facing window that I mentioned before. Is that ok? Am I doing a good job? Should I change something? I live in northern Mexico so its pretty extreme climates, like very hot and very cold weather depending on the season.
    Edit:
    By very hot I mean anywhere between 30 to 40 celsius and very cold like -2 to 15 celsius

    Too bad I live in a tropical country where there are only two seasons: dry and wet (rainy). However, even during the dry season there are still some ocational rainy and cloudy days so it gets kind of tricky know when to take them outside in orden for the cacti to recieve enough sunlight.

      same, I cope with it by putting my succlent inside a wilkin's bottle (the huge one). i cut the bottom and just place it on top, its like its personal green house! If you aren't picky with the appearance, you can do that as well.

    how can I clean my opuntia pads if they're dirty?

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  Год назад +1

      The most common way to clean cactus is using dust blower or brush. In case you cactus comes to very large that are heavily spined and its very difficult to reach those hard to get places with your brush, a powerful water spray pump will work a treat, as the pressure of the jet spray will help to dislodge any dust and grime.
      Clean rainwater is always preferred over tap water because the chemicals often found in tap water can often be high in lime and will to leave lime splashes over the plants. We also recommend overhead watering with clean rainwater. overhead watering helps to keep your plants clean and dust free and also is a great prevention against Spider mites too.
      Hope this piece of info can help you well 🥳

    My bunny ears always have a root rot :(

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  2 года назад

      So sorry to hear that. It might be because of your watering schedule. As soon as you see early signs of rot developing, immediately stop watering and transplant it in porous and well-drained soil. But if the rot is already advanced, you can still try saving it by cutting away the parts with all signs of rot along with some of the healthy tissues to make sure it wouldn't spread. I just realized that my angel wing cactus has grown another full angel with 2 wings. Should I propagate that one first? Is it to late to do it now? It’s an indoor potted plant and I’m newbie. Not really sure how to tell when a plant enters its dormancy period.

    cactus? winter? no no.

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  2 года назад

      Of course, when you move a desert-native to a location with harsh winter landscapes, keeping these prickly plant companions can seem to be an impossible task. But first and importantly, your cactus should be prepared for winter before it strikes.
