Binged the entire thing, had the dumbest smile on my face the entire time. It was really interesting they changes they made. Everyone expected it to be a straight adaptation of the comics, but no, it's a spiritual sequel to the movie with a different timeline. This show is awesome and I hope it gets more seasons.
As something new who knew the basic premise of Scott Pilgrim and disliked the movie, I loved this anime. Binged it myself.
Some little bits of information.
The original material is a comic. The comic began to be written before the movie. Than quite a few volumes were written at the same time as the movie so the author influenced the movie and the movie influenced the comic. When the movie released the last two books weren't finished so the movie actually inspired quite a bit of the comic ending.
The comics are the best more well developed version. Sadly this isn't an adaptation. Although this version is great I still want an actual adaptation as I feel it does all the characters much more justice.
The author said to consider every version of the story as it's own universal btw
As a stands I think Scott Pilgrim could use a break.
Keep in mind, the live action movie didn't take place in Scott's imagination, it took place in a universe where all the things that happened can happen
I love that it wasn't 100% faithful to its source material and instead made its own original "What if?" story
That was even better than the original

It feels a lot like Bryan Lee O’Malley grew up, realized the flaws of the original story, and made a better series

Wow this show was crazy good with its plot twist, story development, and great relationship
Something i like thats different between the movie and the anime/comics is that scott is way more of a cool dude in the animated version whilst the live action scott is more of a awkward dude yet both work for scotts character
But the anime still makes clear he’s a moocher and a loser.
