  • Not a lot of Beach goers know what Sea fish swim underneath them ! In todays session i head for the `coast in Search of some bigger fish.Putting some Improvements in to Place really did make the difference in the end.
    An enjoyable time was had but you can see how dependent my mood is on actually catching some fish !

    If you enjoyed this video why not check out this one from the Same Mark.
    Notes on this Video:
    Always try and release fish in to the deeper water , in this case releasing the Smooth-hound in to the Surf just meant it gets washed up before it finds its bearings. Very often they will swim around in the shallows for a while and i've seen them still in the area a good 10 minutes after capture in the Past.
    The Thornback was a bit small to eat and i don't eat Smoot-hound. A male fish has claspers.
    Please don't ask where this Mark is, the reason is it was shown to me by someone else and i don't want to give it away out of respect to them. there are plenty of Marks on the channel.

    Hi, I'm new to the UK fishing, what about safety with a Dogfish and Skate can they bite or stun if you hold them wrong?

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  Год назад +3

      Yes definitely the thornback can crush hard backed crab shells so don’t put your hands any where near ! Dog fish less of a bite but rough skin always a bit dodgy. I’m a bit old fashioned but I’d advise being cautious

    Nice vid, good for people like me trying to get into fishing. This might be a silly question ut where did you clipped the bait on exactly? Cheers, keep them up!

      There’s a clip that’s attached to the lead.-Also with the cascade clip little clips on the swivels

    Have you tried PVA string? Holds the delicate bait on but dissolves in water. Tiny spools. I've used it with mussel and whitebait.
    The beaches here are packed with cuttle shells. That has to be a good bait!
    Best wishes

    What's the difference between UK and continental beach casting rods Matt?

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  Год назад

      Continentals longer, thinner a slower lazy cast. I think of British rods as being pendulum casters stiff and powerful more for harsh conditions than bite detection

    Always been curious what fish can be caught from a beach.
    So much of our coastline we can walk out what seems a good distance and still only be hip deep.
    Interesting to watch as I've always been a fly fishing lad

    Good day out on the beach and a nice little sesh of mixed species - and target achieved!
    Pity the water looks a bit too coloured for the lures.
    Tight lines Matt!

    Well done Matt :)I would love to catch a ray off the beach.
    I am going out Wednesday to the west side of Bexhill somewhere. I dusted off the bait rods as i can't lure fish in this wind and muddy sea.
