  • FULL CHASE VIDEO!! This severe gust front thunderstorm packed a very strong winds averaging 75mph with winds in Fort Wayne, IN clocked at over 90+mph! Storm knocked out power for much of Fort Wayne and knocked over many trees small and big. Plus reports of over turned semi's and one train car with axels in it. Plus some roofs were torn up on houses and even blown out windows in places.

    This is my story: We were planning to head to Kentucky to see my brother that day. My dad was at work, my sister was at a friend's house, and my mom and I were heading out to Pampered Pets so they could board our dog while we were to be gone. My mom and I saw the storm develop, but we doubted that anything would happen, so we cursed at it and dared it to bring it on, and bring it on it did. We came home and first noticed the power was out. Next, I found a piece of siding and a gutter guard

    i was 9 and was in shelter in a trailer home. i remember everyone playing outside and i was just watching the radar. Power cut out, and i went outside to go tell my babysitter and i remember the sky looking so dark, it was like brown. everyone rushed inside. we took shelter in the bathroom.
    rain hammered the windows, it was so loud.
    after the storm, we drove around the neighborhood and it was destroyed. Trees smashed on homes, cement steps were moved from one’s doorstep. it was flooded.
    driving around fw after my dad picked us up, it was destroyed. the shopping mall off parnell, roofs caved in, part of a roof being bent of a building on north clinton.
    i think this storm is really was grew my fascination with storms.
    last year i believe it was (2022) we had another derecho that mainly hit Wayndale pretty bad but we still had trees down, power out, bad flooding in my neighborhood. it definitely wasn’t as bad as the 2012 in my opinion and no where near as bad as the 2020 one in Iowa

My sister in law was picking up her daughter from zoo camp in fort Wayne and they had to hide in the basement of some museum. What a crazy, powerful storm! I hear tornado sirens in the video. Here in Marion, Indiana we did not get warning, there simply was not enough time. That storm was trucking through and it was huge.
    I remember that the sky turned black and when I looked out the window to see why, that storm just bore down on us. The sad thing was it took a long time for the news to tell us it was a Super Derecho.

We opened the back door and were stunned to find one of our big trees had fallen and buried the patio underneath it, and it also damaged parts of the roof and all of the gutters on the back of the house. It also landed on some wires. When my sister came home, she was already worked up because of having to

    I know I'm incredibly late on this. For my part of town, I live in the northwest part of Fort Wayne, just outside city limits (Lake Township), there was no tornado. I know these were straight line winds so please don't try and educate me. This is just for the people asking. As far as I know, there were no tornadoes but about an hour into the storm, a little bit after some cloud to ground lightning knocked out our power, the tornado siren came on. Some circulation in the clouds and in the 80-90 mph winds were experienced. But to my knowledge, nothing touched down. At least, not in Fort Wayne.

    For one no one said there was a tornado, all it says is "possible tornadic activity" which mean possible circulation in the winds which was reported with this storm and these kinds of storm can produce that. I was right in the area where people were reporting a possible todnado. So that is why it says "possible Tornadic activity" Tornadic also means it could of been a gustnado to which can do some damage also and these storms are know for producing them.

  • @Petrasa
    @Petrasa 11 лет назад

    Those city folks call anything a tornado. For the most part, derechos produce straight line winds, not tornados. I suppose gustnados (which occur in front of the storm) could be produced, but they are relatively rare.

    5:40 RE: What is this?
    In many states, trucks with over-sized loads (> 80,000 lb Gross Vehicle Weight GVW) get police to escort them on the interstate highway system. The truck's route is planned ahead of time to avoid bridges, curves or hills that could cause an accident. The escort also allows the truck to skip the weigh stations to speed up the trip.

    You can't prove this storm was due to global warming but it was incredibly hot in Ft. Wayne the day before -- temperatures hitting 106, which ties the all-time record ever (there were two 106-degree days in the 1930's, and one in 1988). The next day, June 29, started out to be a scorcher, and was over 90 around noon when the storms hit. They were predicting a derecho yesterday, but it was only moderately warm for the date (89) and just a routine thunderstorm.
