Its surreal to think that 8 years later I still remember that day as I was in the Radio Station with Mike Turner, Jessica Green and others. To hear my voice on the video. Its so humbling to think no one died in Kokomo that day. I had been in Hurricanes, Snowstorms and then this. There was a few seconds of time when on air where I felt this awkward silence. Its a day Ill never forget. Side note it was bleeping cold the next day.

That red brick house at 13:40.. They had just rebuilt that house. After the tornado hit, they left and the house literally sat for a couple months. Someone I believe bought it and fixed it. I know this is a couple years old. 🙈

If you are checking to see if a power line is connected to you and in contact with your car, don't get out to look and make contact with the ground, especially in the rain! I realize that you might have been assuming that it was not connected to a live line, but it is generally not safe to assume that or check in that way to verify.

My parents drove to Lafayette that year through that storm
When they got ro Lafayette they were surprised to see people panicking
They lived in kokomo back then as well
I am originally from Seattle and got adopted by them in Indiana
so i am not used to tornadoes. mainly i am used to earthquakes and volcanoes
    so yeah
came here out of curiousity to see what they might have went through
also they lived in the neighborhood across from the mall

My house was in its path and was spared. We are so glad that we had cut several trees down in the spring. m sure if we hadnt our house wouldnt have been spared. A week before this storm we bought my mom a used chest freezer. Our electricity was out for about 6 days after this storm and the second day we had taken all of our meats from the freezer to the north end to my moms and put it into her chest freezer. Weird how things happen for a reason. Had we not bought her that used freezer we would have lost a freezer full of meat.

    • @HappyQuailsLC

To anyone who ever faces that fate, before your meat thaws, call your local animal rescue organizations including those private native animal rescue organizations in the off-chance that they would be able to make use of it.

driving under power lines that are damaged is dangerous yes. But think of it as a bird on a wire. as long as you stay in your vehicle and dont get out until help arrives you'll be fine. (if it were to fall on your car still energized) But yes, I wouldn't do it either just to be on safe side. Birds on a wire are fine, as long as they dont touch anything grounded or another phase (wire) Same as a car its like a faraday cage, power goes around it, but inside you are safe (lineman say its the best place to be unless there's a fire) If that happens you jump off your car but make sure you dont touch the car and ground, if you do, you're crispy.

Did you have more than one camera? At times, I hear the video repeat, and the sounds are different. One camera sounds like it's covered up. Also, is there footage from just one camera here on this video? I'd like to hear the entire chase, but with just the one camera with the best sound. I'm totally blind, so that's why I'm asking. Thanks very much.
