The 6500 xt saved me during the covid gpu apocalypse when my old gpu died everything was sold out or to expensive so im not going to say anything bad about this card it was there when i needed a gpu. i still use it today about to upgrade to an intel gpu when battlemage launches.
Good to hear that bro. I suppose the other good thing about the RX 6500 XT is that it was never mined on due to its limitations. Other cards would have been through rough conditions with mining.
I have both a 4GB RX 6500XT and an 8GB RX 570. I can honestly say that I put the 570 back in. The 6500xt lets you have upscaling and frame generation which is nice but I found that the lack of vram was causing a lot of my games to crash. It should also be noted I’m using an i5-10400 so pcie 3.0
I have a 6500 XT, and it feels extremely weak. Any game I play usually has at least some FPS drop and my FPS maxes out at about 120, which isnt bad, but the FPS drop makes it so much worse. This graphics card also doesnt have good encoders for recording, which makes it much worse.
Surprising results, especially since the 5500XT has more VRAM, is 4.0x8, and has a higher BUS bandwidth, yet, it seemed to be consistently outperformed by a card many consider to be trash because of its X4 configuration and 64 bit BUS. Great video!
i have the 8gb vram version from this card, i even overclocked it and undervolt it (bought it new at 177 usd, a really good deal here in mexico considering how overpriced new gpus are in this country and i had to bough it as an emergency) and i have mixed feelings with this card, in some games like overwatch 2, this card runs above perfect in ultra settings, and it could perform well in the vast majority of games, the problem is that there´s a lot of stuff that doesn´t have any kind of optimization (UE5 games are a nightmare for this card, and to be fair, more powerful cards have trouble with that gross engine) and is kinda sad considering how nerfed this card is from launch
Yeah I’ve found one and have been trying find a review on it but all that people talk about is the 4gb version. Really wished these tech channels covered all bases rather than just saying it’s a bad card because it’s only 4gb and not testing the 8gb version.
This is a horrible gpu, unless you can get it for cheaper than $80, then it’s not worth considering. There are a ton of 1650 supers for cheaper or 1660’s for around $80-100 that are far better
Definitely if you can get those supers at a good price, go for it. I ran the 1650 Super on my last video and it was amazing. Otherwise for people, who don't have the option and this is available in their local marketplace.. it's actually not bad. 😉
bro, don't get this GPU if you're going to use the Ryzen 2600. The PCIe 3.0 will hit you bad. Try to upgrade to something like this instead - s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DBT7XDB
As far as A GPU released only able to run games on its year goes, yeah its pretty bad. It should have released with 8GB VRAM at the bare minimum, to which it wouldn't utilize its bandwidth potential on a 64 bit wide bus. Not to mention all the other missing features that makes it effectively eWaste. 🤣
It's a cheap card bro.. if you are comparing this to something like a GTX 1630 (not the 50 but "30"), released on same year. Between the two, I would pick this overclocked laptop GPU for raw performance, even though it's gimped in features. 😉
@@Machistmo I loved my RX 6600 XT and definitely one of the underrated cards. And because it's an AMD card, the demand is naturally lower compared to Nvidia hence why sellers would be keen to accept lower offers.
@@OverseerPC-Hardware I think a bunch of people bought them at the end of the scalpocolypse. Then as prices came down they upgraded, leaving a ton of these on the used market. They are all over FBMP and Craig’s and eBay and Amazon. I recall a time when the 6600XT was the only card at Microcenter and they sold pretty much all of them back then.
So, what do you think... is the RX 6500 XT worth considering now?
no
Never
@OverseerPC-Hardware i'm using 6500 xt. why does adrenaline solution has no record and stream option?
RX 6500 XT doesn't have an encoder

I'm switching back to amd from Intel. AMD is way better in my opinion.

Definitely stay with RX 570 bro if you're on a PCIe 3.0 system. The RX 6500 XT pretty badly on PCIe 3.0 because it only has 4x lanes.

I bought a GTX 1080 about a week ago for $100 from Ebay. And it was in great condition.
Funny I just bought a rx 6500 xt today for 100 on eBay.

looks good to me. they also make a 8 gb version for a little more.
Yeah, was surprised to hear that before when they had 8gb versions of this one.

@saron95662 agreed
curious about using afmf2 on top of it.
Is the 8 Gb variant worth it ?
Yes, if.. you have a PCIe 4.0 system, and if you don't need encoders 👍
can you somehow share ur msi afterburner preset for the osd
What 3D resolution would you recommend for a RTX 3050 32 Gigs of DDR7 on fortnite
Of course the gpu is still good if you only run games that are older than the gpu itself
Well for some games here yes.. However, the other live service ones have changed a lot since launch. And I've got Helldivers 2 in there too 😉
Rx 6500 xt 8 gb ❤
Downside is the vram i wish it had 6gb vram not 4
They did make 8GB down the line but that was already too late.

compare it to a 6600xt (you can find these USED CHEAP AS A MF everywhere on resale sites too)
RX 6600 XT would definitely be a better choice, which is reflected by the price (more expensive).
