Hey there! I recently came across the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule and it seems like a solid choice for keeping your desktop and other areas clean. I would have gone down to a Ryzen 5 4500 and up to a 6600 for the GPU at a $500 price point (Just managed to price parts and I could get a system at $501.37) But I think Ausin's build is not inherently better. It will depend on the games being played and what else one is doing with it.

i was hoping someone mentioned this. I keep hearing good things, and then recognized it just now as the one he’d not trusted in this video. there’s a $690 7900 XT i’m eyeing… just don’t know if I want to commit to AMD. I guess I can always have two cards down the line too.
One thing to note tho is that the Ryzen 5 5500 is based on Cezanne (like the 5600G and 5700G) instead of Vermeer (like 5600X or 5700X), so your limited to PCIe 3 instead of PCIe 4 like what the 6500XT uses. Also, Cezanne CPU's are limited to 12 PCIe lanes (with the exception of the 5500 because it has no iGPU) so that's something else to consider if you were thinking about buying a G series APU. Last note is the B450/A520 and some B550 chipsets doesn't support PCIe 4 at all anymore, so even if you get a 3000/5000 CPU with PCIe gen 4 support you still wouldn't be using the full potential of a 6500XT. Learned this the hard way when I bought a RX5700 with my Ryzen 5 4600G.
Decent build for $500. I have been building and selling computers for the past 2 years, so I know where and when to get good deals. Recently built one with a 5600x, B450M, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 5700XT, and 500w PSU for $500 with all brand new parts and a used GPU. Sold it for $800. It sold fast since it's a great deal compared to other sellers.

500 budget for sure. I rock the 6600xt by Sapphire. Graphics Ram Size 8 GB GPU Clock Speed 2554 MHz Not a sponsor they have just served me well. Extra 135.36 dollars. Goes a long way in the GPU field. $321.35 VS $185.99 (At time of comment.) So yes the 500 turns into a 600. So much longer lasting. The CPU is fine for my GPU and will keep you gaming till an upgrade. Any game around 2022 and below should run like a champ. (More than playable. 60+) Quite a library of games; mind you it cant play past "Its" date. (Above 60.)
Thanks, it's been a while since I put one together(like 5 years and a stroke and a brained injury) ...a desktop version is much better...my first one has a xp and a version 7 which were current at the time(the one on the xp I haven't used it in a while but the 7 I use 4-5 days a week...now I have to look upgrading to get the current Steam with! Thank you very much Brent
i remember these videos! i used to love watching them. for a while my pc had the Pentium G4600 and a GTX 1050ti from the 2017 build, since I knew nothing about pcs and trusted you and it worked well enough for the longest time! hope you bring these back one a year!
I bought this Zalman S3 case in December of last year and I love it. Easy to build in but I did move the front fans inside the case so they are not choked all to hael along with a few other mods for better airflow because I am using a hotter cpu and gpu but yea, I will probably use this case again in the future.
i have pretty much the same pc, the only diference is that i have a 5600g, so i used integrated graphics while saving money and then almost a year later i bought a 1660 super , the gpu was used and it only costed me USD$80, in total my entire pc, including a 75hz 24'' 1080p monitor and all my peripherals coste me around $470~$500, really happy with it
Great video, the 5500 is a very underrated CPU, actually it's not a laptop CPU, rather it's basically a 5600g without integrated graphics, and the 6500 XT is very overhated GPU, while not good, it can be a valid option where used GPU markets are still way overpriced. The only thing is that the 6500 XT is not performing at its maximum when using PCIe 3.0, wich is the maximum speed that the 5500 support (EDIT: neither does the a520 motherboard), so you're losing a bit of performance, you can buy a 3600 for a similar price and it has a similar performance, the only difference is that the 3600 actually supports PCIe 4.0 which will really help you to get the most of the 6500 XT.
Nostalgic. I remember a decade ago when Austin used to make these PC builds but never actually buy the parts, because he didn't have the money. Glad to see you can finally buy them Austin! 😂
Hey there! It's great to see you reminiscing about Austin's PC builds. Building your own gaming PC can be a lot of fun and a great way to customize your setup. By the way, have you considered adding the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a versatile tool for keeping your desktop spotless, and it's reasonably priced compared to other brands. Just thought I'd share this cool recommendation with you! 😄
I build myself a similar budget $500 PC build. I buy everything brand new except for the GPU. I went for a used RX 5700 XT for $120 which is really really a good value and performance and is on par with the 2070 TI. CPU I went with R5 5600, B450 Steel Legend mobo, 32 gb DDR4 rams, 1tb WD green ssd and some generic 80+ bronze PSU. So to everyone that is really in the budget, go for older used GPU especially the radeon cards. They are really really dirt cheap for the performance you're getting. Do your research before you start splurging for parts.
Really enjoyed that you set a budget for this build. Honestly I'd love to see you try £100, £200, £300 ect ect and keep growing to show what money really gets you when it comes to PC gaming. Good video, nice one 👍
$400 and $300 are quite doable. $200 gets into the range of you have to buy used, which makes these videos have less meaning since it isn't a part that just anyone can buy if they want to make the same system.
2:23 , i use the aisurix RX 580 and it’s honestly pretty good. I definitely was skeptical like you but (at least with the one I received) it was a great buy. I have a super old build besides this graphics card and i get 120 or more fps on most games with medium to high graphics!
I am from Brazil and I am crying looking at those prices, things are so expensive here. Like we would pay here for the graphics card about 400-450 dollars.
Lol i made a 500$ pc with a i5 10400f cpu, z490 msi motherboard, same ram as in vid, same case, and a gtx 1080 on ebay. Blows this build outa the water gotta love black friday
I honestly think the rx 580 over the 6500xt not only because it performs the same if not better in better in some games but the rx 6500xt only has 4 gbs of vram and we all know how even 8 is barely good enough for 1080p anymore, the 6500xt will not be able to keep up.
Just would like to share my experience using the RX 6500 XT since I follow this video as a reference for building my budget gaming PC with some changes along the way to suit my needs. such as the motherboard and the processor. My is gaming PC build is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G Processor and the RX 6500 XT GPU, my motherboard a midrange Asus Tuf Gaming B450M-PRO II, my RAM is XPG Gammix D45 (8GBx2) DDR4 3200MHz, and my Storage is a Ramsta 2.5 512GB SSD Sata since I’m broke… I build them together around June 2023… Overall, my experience with this build is pretty pleasant to say the very least, finally able to play most of my games in ultra settings such as Sniper Elite V2 Remastered V2 and Pillars of Eternity and a couple of high end JRPGs games than I ever could with my older DDR3 PC with an AMD A6 APU and a Radeon R5 Video Card. A very smooth gaming experience I must say. If you live in a third world country like I am and only have around $500 budget or even less to build a gaming PC and you don’t care about streaming or those fancy Ray-tracing crap, get a Nvidia card if you want that sort of stuff, then this particular $500 Gaming PC with the RX 6500 XT build is very viable and fantastic! I even tried doing some light video editing using Wondershare Filmora 11 and it works flawlessly, was able to render and export videos in faster super speeds than my older DDR3 could ever do. Just don’t expect this run the latest of games in ultra setting since this is a budget video card and if your budgets allows it, buy a RX 6600 XT or up since it’s a much better card! Also don’t forget to enable AMD (SAM) Smart Access Memory by turning on the resizable bar on the BIOs for a performance boost to get the most out of your pure AMD system! Thank so much Mister Austin Evans for this wonderful guide! It really helped me a lot and for AMD for the RX 6500 XT! Best Budget Video Card/GPU ever! despite what the so called tech reviewers gurus haters says otherwise!
I built a similar PC for my daughter at right around $500. Coolermaster Master Box Case Q300L, 3x 120mm case fans, MSI Mag 500w PSU, ASRock A520 Motherboard, Ryzen 5 5500, 32GB Team DR4-3600, a PNY GTX 1660 6GB (Ebay), a 1TB WD Blue Sata SSD (from her old PC), a 1TB Sata HDD (from her old PC ), USB Wifi/Bluetooth combo (Used left over from a broken PC). I think it came to in all about $560 but it would have been more if I had not already had the fans, drives, wifi adapter, and a used GPU.
@v1n1tro Look homie, like I said you're new, and I guess you shouldn't expect tone to come through text, but you have to be the daftest mfer to think I was serious.
The main issue I see with this build is the Ryzen 5500 does not support PCI Gen 4 and the RX 6500 XT needs Gen 4 to get the most performance out of it because it only uses 4 PCIe lanes. It works but the 6500 XT performs worse on Gen 3.
Just built my friend a very nice pc for $900 at micro, 13th gen i5 , 3060ti, 500gb m2, 16gb ram, 650psu, p760 mobo (he wanted wifi/Bluetooth) nice to see prices coming down! Went with a cheap $50 montech case just because budget decent airflow with 4 installed fans, the standoffs were so frustrating on that case otherwise great build!

A couple things: -Don't get the ryzen 5 5500, get the Intel i3 13100f for $75 with much better performance. - that PSU is totally safe - there is nothing wrong with low end motherboards. It will not effect performance at all - silicon power is a great brand of ram. Do not be worried about the price or looks. - the aserix rx 580 is totally trustworthy but go for the rx 6600 in this build. With the money saved from CPU and case you should be fine. - SSD does not have to be the biggest name brand. T force and silicon power are cheap and great. - get a cheaper case. It does not matter as it doesn't effect performance and will allow for the better GPU
i managed to build a 1000 dollar gaming rig (brand new and used parts). I got a ryzen 5 5600 and rx 6800xt. A 32 gb of dual channel ram. A respectable FSP hydro g 750W gold rated psu. Asus tuf b450m plus ii. 6 arctic p12 argb fans. darkflash dlm21 mesh case. darkflash dx240 AIO (replaced stock fans with arctic). A couple of 1 tb harddrive and SSD. both 2.5. I am playing on a 1440p ultra wide monitor, so the CPU and GPU combo is great. I can play fortnite epic settings at 100 fps (max nanite and lumen), and most games at 60+ fps with some RT on. I mainly play rdr2, and I can reach a 100 frames at max. I built this system for the past month, and I cant be happier with what I built for the price. Basically twice the power of a ps5, with twice the price. And its a PC! I can do anything I want with it. Even emulation ;) (TOTK 60 fps RT). Never had a BSOD or sudden crashes, which I was surprised, considering my gaming laptop does that a lot. This build is a monster for its price. It took me months of planning and finding parts that are in good condition. I got the rx 6800 xt secondhand for a little under 400 dollars. I do not plan to upgrade anytime soon, but will upgrade my CPU, motherboard, and an nvme (for PCIE 4.0). and some aesthetic stuff probably around Christmas this year until early next year. Sidenote: I undervolted my GPU to reduce electricity bill at the same performance. 1030 mV at stock speeds. Max vram speed. Stable as hell with an average of 70 W power reduction. CPU idle temps hover around 35 to 40 deg C and 58 deg C at full load. GPU sits around 70 to 80 at full. Noise level is silent and I cant hear it even when playing in speakers.
AMD and NVIDIA skimping out on VRAM for their "lower" end GPUs (up to the 4060TI and 6600XT.....) is one of my biggest grievances with the newer GPU generations. The RX570 already had 8GB of VRAM and playing in FullHD in 2023 on 4GB of VRAM is infuriating.
Bro I haven't watched you in a while and have been earthing for you for over 4 months. I just found you and that was from when your house burnt down.....
In 2008 I built my first AMD gaming PC with only $500 while I was still in highschool and I was able to run Crysis in all high graphics. I thought it was a pretty huge accomplishment being my first time 👍
I built myself a budget build last year Specs: CPU: i7 8700 GPU: gtx 1650 super Ram: 32gb SSD: WD 500gb PSU: 550w Case: NZXT h5 flow And honestly it was worth every dollar, I could’ve waited and saved up more for a higher end system but honestly with the games I play it’s fine for me. Probably overtime I would probably have to upgrade parts along the way but it should be fine. If anyone is on a budget, definitely look into the games/tasks you’ll be doing on the system
2 months ago I build same cpu and motherboard on micro center I save 20 buck on cpu and mobo combo and pairing rx 6600. Reason is Warzone 2.0 fps 100. I’m so happy upgrading coming from I7 8700 with Gtx 1070.
My recommandation is to buy almost everything new except for the GPU. The A520 supports PCIE Gen3 x16 but the GPU is PCIE Gen4 x4, the best is to buy a 2nd hand RX 6600 or RX 6600XT, they may be PCIE Gen4 x8 but x8 is bigger than x4 lanes.

Imagine comparing a gtx 1650 vs a rx 6650 while you are looking to buy a rx 6500 😂
I was trying to figure that one out myself.
I appreciate these kind of videos Austin. thank you 👍
What a throwback. PC Building spin off channel?
Learned this the hard way when I bought a RX5700 with my Ryzen 5 4600G.
another thing to take into account preowned and used pc cases, work just as well as a new case
Damn i remember when Boson 2.0 was my first ever pc i built back in the day, glad to see you’re still continuing the Boson builds
Can you elaborate on the parts and prices i have almost the same build but i got 500dollars without the gpu
Evans you are appreciated so much in the PC community and I just want to say thank you!
Hey {{3}}! I appreciate your kind words! When it comes to keeping your PC clean, have you considered the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a handy device that offers both powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities. With features like high-quality filters and multiple tubes, it's great for maintaining a spotless environment. Plus, it's portable and perfect for various cleaning tasks. Definitely worth checking out! 😄👍
500 budget for sure. I rock the 6600xt by Sapphire.
Graphics Ram Size 8 GB
GPU Clock Speed 2554 MHz
Not a sponsor they have just served me well.
Extra 135.36 dollars. Goes a long way in the GPU field. $321.35 VS $185.99 (At time of comment.)
So yes the 500 turns into a 600. So much longer lasting. The CPU is fine for my GPU and will keep you gaming till an upgrade.
Any game around 2022 and below should run like a champ. (More than playable. 60+)
Quite a library of games; mind you it cant play past "Its" date. (Above 60.)
You should do budget gaming pc like once every year. That would be very helpful.
I went hard for my first pc last year with a ryzen 7 and a 3080. Thx 4 the videos Austin keep em coming.
Thank you very much
Brent
i remember these videos! i used to love watching them. for a while my pc had the Pentium G4600 and a GTX 1050ti from the 2017 build, since I knew nothing about pcs and trusted you and it worked well enough for the longest time! hope you bring these back one a year!
Highly appreciated!
I bought this Zalman S3 case in December of last year and I love it. Easy to build in but I did move the front fans inside the case so they are not choked all to hael along with a few other mods for better airflow because I am using a hotter cpu and gpu but yea, I will probably use this case again in the future.
where inside the case did you move the fans? I'm thinking about getting this case too and I'm quite curious
i have pretty much the same pc, the only diference is that i have a 5600g, so i used integrated graphics while saving money and then almost a year later i bought a 1660 super , the gpu was used and it only costed me USD$80, in total my entire pc, including a 75hz 24'' 1080p monitor and all my peripherals coste me around $470~$500, really happy with it
Great video, the 5500 is a very underrated CPU, actually it's not a laptop CPU, rather it's basically a 5600g without integrated graphics, and the 6500 XT is very overhated GPU, while not good, it can be a valid option where used GPU markets are still way overpriced.
For pci-e gen 4 support you also need a b550 or x570 chipset
Literally was praying for you to do this because I am trying to build one!
Thank u so much! I’m stuck with an older pc and needed an affordable upgrade so badly
Welcome back to the actual tech RUclipsr space
Nostalgic. I remember a decade ago when Austin used to make these PC builds but never actually buy the parts, because he didn't have the money.
Glad to see you can finally buy them Austin! 😂
He came full circle.
BRING BACK CLASSIC AUSTIN VIDEOS🙌
Absolutely love watching these videos!
Love how he shows the new pc builders where to place stuff 😀😀😀
Ive followed tbis as closely as I can and Im really excited for it. My whole setup will cost around £515 (including mouse+keyboard). Great vid
Hi I Youssef, I 20 years old How are you Can I get to know you?
All here for the agressive apexes.
OHHHH YESSS 500$ Builds are back thank you Austin!
Really enjoyed that you set a budget for this build.
Honestly I'd love to see you try £100, £200, £300 ect ect and keep growing to show what money really gets you when it comes to PC gaming.
Good video, nice one 👍
100?? You'll get nothing
At that price i don't think there is even a windows laptop from amazon, maybe if you got it from wish or something.
@ru2225 haha that's the challenge 😋
@kr555wizard think it's just fun to see what you get rather than is it good lol
$400 and $300 are quite doable. $200 gets into the range of you have to buy used, which makes these videos have less meaning since it isn't a part that just anyone can buy if they want to make the same system.
Holy crapsickles I forgot about the boson! Such nostalgia
With the intel arc 750 limited edition going for 200 usd currently. I think that would be the best budget gpu available atm.
about to build a 1080p gamming rig for my son! this video was of GREAT VAULE / AWESOME Job Sir.
You just love to see another budget pc video
2:23 , i use the aisurix RX 580 and it’s honestly pretty good. I definitely was skeptical like you but (at least with the one I received) it was a great buy. I have a super old build besides this graphics card and i get 120 or more fps on most games with medium to high graphics!
Yeah, I was wondering why he didn’t trust AISURIX
I am from Brazil and I am crying looking at those prices, things are so expensive here. Like we would pay here for the graphics card about 400-450 dollars.
I NEEDED this video. Im pc shopping rn and i wanna stay pretty budget
I CANT BELIEVE I WAS THE 10K like ON Austin`s channel. Great to b here
Man! American prices are so good! We get hosed so bad in Canada.
Just would like to share my experience using the RX 6500 XT since I follow this video as a reference for building my budget gaming PC with some changes along the way to suit my needs. such as the motherboard and the processor.
My is gaming PC build is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G Processor and the RX 6500 XT GPU, my motherboard a midrange Asus Tuf Gaming B450M-PRO II, my RAM is XPG Gammix D45 (8GBx2) DDR4 3200MHz, and my Storage is a Ramsta 2.5 512GB SSD Sata since I’m broke… I build them together around June 2023…
Overall, my experience with this build is pretty pleasant to say the very least, finally able to play most of my games in ultra settings such as Sniper Elite V2 Remastered V2 and Pillars of Eternity and a couple of high end JRPGs games than I ever could with my older DDR3 PC with an AMD A6 APU and a Radeon R5 Video Card.
Great video!
New to building a gaming pc and was recommended your channel. Gonna follow this verbatim and hope for the best lol
This spec perfect to ride out inflation. Same spec but forgo casing since i already had one. Different PSU too, chose the better/more reliable one.
Bro i love the ending
This must've been right before the AMD GPU Price cuts. 6600 (non xt) can finally be found consistently under 200
I built a similar PC for my daughter at right around $500.
Nice! Love the build. Love the video!👌
More like Bozo 5.0 hahahahahahaha just kidding we love Austin.
Is this Austin? I thought he was replaced when he stopped doing his intro.
So True
@v1n1tro You're obviously new, so I won't judge you.
@v1n1tro Look homie, like I said you're new, and I guess you shouldn't expect tone to come through text, but you have to be the daftest mfer to think I was serious.
Thank you, good explanations of decision making, especially trade offs.
I agree with what Barney says on Austin’s shirt in the ordering process
The main issue I see with this build is the Ryzen 5500 does not support PCI Gen 4 and the RX 6500 XT needs Gen 4 to get the most performance out of it because it only uses 4 PCIe lanes. It works but the 6500 XT performs worse on Gen 3.
Also A520m Pro or B550 are better boards. And the A620 WiFi came out this week is also a Good fit
You missed an opportunity to an ad for honey. An ad on service that auto applies coupons to your online purchases. Works well in chrome.
Yo this took me back in time, back when I did not have a good PC and used to watch Austin's PC Build videos thinking when can I build my own.
Love you Austin, taxation is THEFT :)
For anyone from the Netherlands, I managed to build a list for a 500 Euro(ish) PC.
This is my list.
Asrock Radeon RX 6600 Challenger D 8G / €199,-
Asrock A520M-HDV / €59,90
Lexar NM620 512GB / €26,90
Aerocool Quantum Mesh / €29,90
AMD Ryzen 5 5500 / €99,90
Patriot Memory Viper Steel 2x8GB 3200Mhz DDR4 / €35,90
DeepCool PF450 power supply unit 450W / €40,95
Total: €496,40 with shipping!
Store used: Megekko / Netherlands
PC parts are finally getting affordable again! No more 600 dollar entry level GPUs!
The silicon power ram is a solid choice. I know that 1 persons experience doesn't prove its worth, but its been fine for me
The name for AMD RAM speed equivalent to XMP is not AMP, it's DOCP for previous gen and EXPO for the 7000 series
Intel just slashed the price of the A750 to $200. Given the market and budget, that seems like a reasonable option.
His T-shirt killed me 🤣💀
Same 🤣
did anyone else notiice that was 6650xt and not 6500xt on user benchmark :P
The build is quite ok for everyday use and some light gaming.
Finally after 5-6 years you finally made a 5.0
Do a $1000 PC build next
Did you just open USER BENCHMARK?
i3 + a750 would give a significant performance advantage for a little more
In the market for a new pc soon, this saves me some hassle.
A couple things:
-Don't get the ryzen 5 5500, get the Intel i3 13100f for $75 with much better performance.
- that PSU is totally safe
- there is nothing wrong with low end motherboards. It will not effect performance at all
- silicon power is a great brand of ram.
The closest micro center is 126 miles away
i managed to build a 1000 dollar gaming rig (brand new and used parts).
I swear the first thing that caught my eye was that "Commit Tax Fraud" with that Barney😂😂
This video is a great introduction for people to learn how to build there first pc! 5/5
In 2008 I built my first AMD gaming PC with only $500 while I was still in highschool and I was able to run Crysis in all high graphics. I thought it was a pretty huge accomplishment being my first time 👍
This $500 PC costs actually 900-1000€ here in Belgium... see the difference :/
I built myself a budget build last year
Specs:
CPU: i7 8700
GPU: gtx 1650 super
Ram: 32gb
SSD: WD 500gb
PSU: 550w
Case: NZXT h5 flow
And honestly it was worth every dollar, I could’ve waited and saved up more for a higher end system but honestly with the games I play it’s fine for me.
I think for this Rx580 8gb would have been better and a lot cheaper.
Agreed. Or a used or new 5700xt for close to his budget of $200
The 580 would have a lot of cpu bottle neck tho
